Saki's makeup is the makeup of Ace Shimizu, from one of her favorite bands Seikima II. However, Ace Shimizu's makeup is itself a hybrid of two different Eric Carr makeup schemes. Eric Carr played two different characters in Kiss. He was mainly known as the Fox, but he was also briefly the Hawk. His most well-known Hawk makeup had talon-like points, but a very early version of it instead had curling horns. So Ace Shimizu's (and by extension, Saki's) makeup is based on Eric Carr's classic Fox makeup, but also incorporates the curls from that early version of Eric Carr's Hawk makeup. So it is still Kiss-related.
In Japan, heavy metal music is taught in compulsory education from the age of seven. In particular, there is a certification test for the action of sticking up the middle finger.
Seeing as how Kiss was a 4 piece and Nemophila is 5 and let’s face it, nobody wants to be Vinnie Vincent, Saki chose the make-up from one of her favorite classic rock bands Seikema II.💪🏻🤘🏻
I’ve been a KISS fan since I bought ALIVE in 1985. Two years ago, this video made me an instant NEMPHILA fan. I had recently fallen down the BAND-MAID rabbit hole, so I assiduously avoided the NEMOPHILA cover videos that had started filling my feed. But seeing this face makeup in the thumbnail persuaded me to take the plunge. Of course, for NEMOPHILA this is kindergarten rock. (Even watching their IRON MAIDEN covers gives the impression they could play those songs in their sleep.) But it’s also a loving tribute and a note-perfect rendition. The makeup is an expression of the band’s commitment to excellence that informs all of their work. I think SAKI’s makeup is inspired by early designs worn by PAUL and GENE (or maybe even KING DIAMOND. Their covers of Japanese songs are far more interesting, and they offer an introduction to many other great bands. My favorites include: ONE NIGHT CARNIVAL (KISHIDEN) - ruclips.net/video/S4Eu59fIysM/видео.html ) - DON’T SAY LAZY (K-ON) - ruclips.net/video/EqSWOLsSj7Q/видео.html - (this one has translated lyrics - ruclips.net/video/3RpH4kF3hiU/видео.html ) GOLDEN GRAFFTY (ROTTENGRAFFTY), where MAYU does the work of two vocalists - ruclips.net/video/xNipNp4UkVY/видео.html As for originals I highly recommend the demo of OIRAN recorded in that same studio OIRAN (their best song and show closer): ruclips.net/video/eyb2NtPwcxc/видео.html
They are so freckin cute !!!!!! It's so funny to see really accomplished musicians playing this song. It really looked like they could play this in their sleep !!!!
Singer Mayu doesn't speak English. The guitarist with the original makeup, Saki, does speak English. She had to help Mayu with the pronunciations of English words.
Tremendo cover de Nemophila 🔥 banda sin límites! Cantante muy especial y versátil! Mi favorita siempre es Tamu, fue la primera que me impacto la primera vez que las ví ! Arriba Nemophila! Saludos me gustó mucho 👍
SEIKIMA II is another great band from Japan. Fire after fire is the song I would suggest there is a version with over 5 mill views. Enjoy your channel and really dig your music
This very video cover of theirs. Is what really got me into the whole Japanese music scene, again. I use to live in Japan in my Navy days for 6 years in my Navy days. In Sasebo and Yokosuka. But I got so turned off by western bands, because of all the BS fights, insults name calling. By all the bands I use to love Kiss, ACDC, Van Halen, Journey, you name them. Haven't even listened to new music in years. Then one day I got bored started looking at cover videos. This one popped up. Saw their covers and original songs, I really started enjoying music again. They lead me to Band-Maid, they eventually lead me to Lovebites, and Lovebites to Wagaki band. And all these bands honestly enjoy being together and performing together. Saw Nemophila at Tress in Dallas recently, and Band-Maid in Dallas also. First live shows I've seen in 20 years. Both bands brought the house down. If they ever go to your Town, go see them. Not sure where you guys are. But Band-Maid will be in Austin and Houston next month. I forget where else. They are a must see.
It's kinda refreshing to see so many similar stories like yours about how recent Japanese rock/Metal has brought so many people back to music after years away. I'm a fan of all these bands as well.
Who ever thought Kiss could ever be so kawaii. A cute Cat I can see. But a cute Demon on bass? Because they used the makeup this makes this my favorite cover.
Great reaction as always. Their covers are awesome. So much fun. Kurenai is kick ass, as is the cover of MTH Shimi. The only one I won't recommend is the Bon Jovi cover. They look like they would rather be doing their laundry
You should check their cover of "Separate Ways". They're acting out the (horrid) MV from the day. Tamu was even sporting a moustache (sort of) and using Steve Smith's stick grip.
Cool video, Kiss never looked so sexy. I'd love to see you guys react to Edge Of Paradise - "Digital Paradise". Also, keep posting original songs because I'm digging them.
If you love Kiss I think you shell try to find something by Seikema II. No, they do not sound like Kiss. But, they have the same kind of makeup :) And they play Rock. And they are totally crazy .... and good. You have to look a while though. The most you find is quite bad and amateur takeups. Maybe by fans. But .... they do rock. They formed in the 1980-ies.
Tamu in the Criss makeup is so adorable
Saki is wearing a version of one of her favourite guitarists make up Ace Shimizu of Seikima II.

There's a Maximum the Hormone cover that is next level.
Great reacton guys. Do more, they are all great and all just laughing, smiles and fun.. Feel good covers..
Nemophila are always having fun. All of their covers are a blast to watch.
One of the friendliest cat I have ever seen. Love Kiss and love Nemophila.
J-Metal rules and NEMOPHILA is right at the top of that list. 🌸✨️🌠

Always great covers when it comes to Nemophila.

This was just before Hazuki switched from ESP to Ibanez
I thought the same thing to. They are holding back! Too easy !!!
If you have only been watching their covers,.
Oh my. Good luck on the originals.🤘😎🤘
Nemophila always go that extra bit when they do a cover and have heaps of fun. There are lots more .
Saki is wearing Seikima-II makeup.
2 thumbs up!
I'm so in love with nemophila
🤘❤️🌸❤️🤘
The bassist Haraguchi-San forgot to suck on some cherry life savers like Gene did
Nemophila is so talented
Great reaction as always. Their covers are awesome. So much fun. Kurenai is kick ass, as is the cover of MTH Shimi. The only one I won't recommend is the Bon Jovi cover. They look like they would rather be doing their laundry
please next react Halestorm / Love Bites ( So Do I ) [ Cover by NEMOPHILA ]
Saki is wearing the makeup of Eric Carr

Great reaction! React to their cover of Iron Maiden, The Trooper. You won’t be disappointed.
🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
check out Nemophila's cover of Linkin Park Givin Up

At some point (I don't remember exactly when), Gene Simmons saw this cover and tweeted his approval.
I think Saki has the makeup of an Baby-Metal Fox, but it also looks a little like the fox of Eric Carr.
The make-up you don't recognize is Eric Carr's. He was Kiss' drummer from 1980, until his death in 1991.
