My wife and I rode LEJOG in 2018 and your video brought back wonderful memories! Incredible effort by your dad proving age is no barrier! You have the magnificent SUSTRANS and we love your cycle network. With any luck my wife and I will again cycle in England in 2022! I hope to see more of your adventures to sustain me before we can travel again. Thanks for the vid!
Hi Douglas. Thank you. It is a great experience isn't it :-). We did a tour of Holland in 2018 which I also made a video of. Here's the link - ruclips.net/video/uLEocw9oQhM/видео.html - keep pedalling :-)
What a wonderful video Steve, I very much enjoyed viewing it and to see your dad cycling along side of you made it even more special, I wish my much loved dad was still here today......well done to you all
Thanks Tom. It was all his idea. He was going to do it with or without me, so I tagged along for the ride. Glad I did. Hopefully more to come. Thank you.
This is just such a beautiful film and what an amazing adventure to remember for the rest of your lives. I found the finish to be quite emotional. Your dad is amazing.
Cheers Tony. It was a great experience. This August a shorter trip - train to Newcastle then cycle then cycle back to my Dad's house (Aberdeenshire). Should take about 8 days. There will be a video :-).
About to do LeJog through June and saw this video. Absolutely smashing film and so lovely to see father and son on a trip like this. Hope to see more like this from the two of you!
Glad you enjoyed it. It was a fantastic experience. One piece of advice - don't go up the A9 direct to JoG . Turn inland at Tain & go via Boar Bridge, Lairg and along the top coast from Bettyhill. It's well worth the extra few miles to stay off that stretch of the A9 which has massive hills and loads of big trucks squeezing you off the road. Not a nice way to finish a superb ride. Have a blast.
What a truly inspirational video. This deserves so many more views, what an epic journey for the pair of you, you must have the most incredible memories from that trip. Some of the roads & scenery were awesome. Well done you two 👏👏👏.
Cheers Matt. Really glad you enjoyed it. It was the most wonderful experience and especially to do it with my Dad, and latterly with my uncle. We toured Holland the year before (did a video for that too) & had hoped to go to Belgium in 2020, but alas! Hopefully we'll do a week or so somewhere in the UK this autumn and then maybe another biggy in 2022. Take care and keep pedalling.
Hey guys, your route looks fantastic. we are plannin a more scenic route like yours (away from main roads) and wandered where we could find yours? thanks x
Hi Walter. Thank you. It was a wonderful experience. We followed Royston Wood's "End to End Cycle Route - A Safer Way" which has GPX files I uploaded to my Iphone 7 and we used that to navigate (& to film the video) - it was easy and we were very rarely on any main roads. It's slightly longer and I guess must have more climbing but if you're not trying to do it in 10 days it's a brilliant route. You need to be on a hybrid or gravel bike though. It's not for skinny tyres. N.B. I would strongly recommend not following the A9 up from Tain directly to John O'Groats. It's shorter (not that much) but that A9 road above Tain is a nightmare - very busy (a lot of trucks) & some big climbs on it. We went inland from Tain to Bonar Bridge, Lairg & then onto the top coast at Betty Hill. From there it's east to JoG. It was a wonderful way to finish LEJOG. Book accommodation ahead though when you get north of Perth, even outwith school holidays it can be hard to find a bed. Up until then we used booking.com every day which worked well. Keen to do it again but in reverse, possibly in 2022. Good luck.
What a great record a fantastic adventure- hats off to all of you.
Brilliant, thank you. Here's the latest adventure - ruclips.net/video/T7vBbgndC9k/видео.html
What an amazing adventure for both of you. Well done 😊👍😊
Father and son, superb.
Life is about adventures so well done.
Nice one, Pops!

Did as you suggested re route up through Lairg. You never forget a ride like this. I’ll be back at some stage to do Jogle 🙂👍🏻

I had plans for this morning, saw this and was gripped. I waved back as you crossed the Forth Bridge. We've got to get out again on a tour soon.
Definitely. I will be spending 50% of my time touring when the lockdown is over LOL............
Fab ride fella's
