Ain’t that the truth I am a Christian and I see people all the time using one or two out of context verses to justify just about anything they want to believe and if I offer a verse that completely refutes the interpretation of the verse they offered then they say I’m taking it out of context they’ve created a beautiful system where they can’t be wrong

@@jdoe7674 I agree. People who are constantly and truly taking scriptures out of context and quoting scripture at you to try to get you to do what THEY think you should -- are not actual followers of Jesus. What they seek is to control you. Religion and its related documentation are dangerous; it only takes a hot second before someone is abusing them for their own selfish, ungodly purposes - while claiming their "Lord" is God. Nope. They are their own Lords and bow to themselves. This is why the founders of the United States wanted church/religion and the state/government to be completely separate. One does not control the other. This is why the current extremist right-wing Justices on the Supreme Court are so dangerous. They are ruling otherwise...

@@jdoe7674 That's the problem with the Bible in general. There is no context provided for what the "correct interpretation" of it is. Religion just feels unnecessary. I want to learn as much as possible, and respect your right to worship/believe whatever deity/moral system you align yourself with. I just really wish the world would focus on reality and and trying to find out what reality even is. That is the true way to find “god” in my eyes. I would hope something similar to church could replace it in a hypothetically religion-free society because it is the best form of community building and way to gain trust in your fellow community members that we currently have.

If God disapprove slavery why is there any chapters written in the Bible about a slavers.
Stop trying to clean up the Christian god the Christian God did not have a problem with slavery. He allegedly inspired the writers to include chapters about slavery. The Bible also said that the slave Master had the right to beat the slaves because the slave was his property
Ephesians 6:5-8 Paul states, “Slaves, be obedient to your human masters with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ” which is Paul instructing slaves to obey their master. Similar statements regarding obedient slaves can be found in Colossians 3:22-24, 1 Timothy 6:1-2, and Titus 2:9-10.
