Hwasa wrote 'be calm' for her late uncle who passed away in a car accident. He was like a father to her and helped her a lot during trainee days. Hwasa dedicated a victory on a music show to him as well.
fun facts: that little boy is Park Woo Sang's son (the producer of Maria album and many other Mamamoo's songs). He's the one who shot this mv, they spent just few won to do it. Many scenes are from Hwasa old neighborhood and apartment.
Sorry, I wrote a lot but Hwasa's mvs and songs have always a deeper meaning. Anyway, since you're a dancer I thought you could enjoy Hwasa's newest song 'Chili', it was released just few days ago on Street woman fighter and the dance crews are competing for the best choreography for the song. I think it would be interesting to see what a dancer thinks about those choreo.

LMM = Lost My Mind.
Cyndi Lauper...yes, that Cyndi Lauper, was in South Korea when LMM was released and in an interview said she had the song on her playlist! That's crazy!
Hwasa said one day after work she went home and suddenly had hard time breathing and she cried a lot, she felt uneasy about her future and couldn't think of anything happy. She felt like throwing up and just wanted to run away. She wrote how she felt in LMM lyrics.
In the mv she's just living her life when those arrows appears, some enter even in the place she is living, so she decides to go away from that place. The only arrow able to reach her body is the one she shoots herself, stabbing her in the back. Basically it means she's not hurt at all by what people say about her, what really destroys her is self-criticism, when she treats herself badly. You never see her running away or panicking, she doesn't fall down even when that arrow hits her back. In that moment she decides to go back to her place and faces head on those arrows. The amount of arrows keep on growing and in the end they are so many to cover the sky, but none of them can touch Hwasa. In the last scene she's unharmed surrounded by arrows, it's almost like those arrows created a flowery meadow. Calling back the phrase that open the mv "Flowers do bloom even in rain falling down". Hwasa symbol is a flower and those arrows raining down are the hate people keep throwing at her, so this means I will bloom even if you keep on hating me.

FOMO (fear of missing out) is a b side on her Guilty pleasure album, I'm a B is the title, and the only other song is Bless You which doesn't have an MV but does have a performance at another company. I'm not sure who, but they were promoting Tommy Jeans. Bless You as well as all of the b sides on the Maria album are amazing. Park Woo Sang, who filmed FOMO and Be Calm was very involved in writing and producing for Mamamoo, but especially Wheein and Hwasa. He went through burnout and left RBW and that's about the time Wheein left. Now he is a writer and producer on two of the songs on Wheein's album In The Mood including the one Hwasa features on. The album releases on the 12th. PWS has recent interviews with both Hwasa and Wheein on his You Tube channel Logos.

In ‘I’m a B’ Hwasa plays with words again, the Korean title is “I’m a 빛 “ it means “I’m a light” but 빛 sounds like bitch in English. "When I concentrate on working on music, I often torture myself and become quite hysterical" Hwasa said. "That is why I used the b-word to describe myself in the tune, asking people for some understanding. On top of that, I also believe I am the light of my own life." She added
"I think I missed out on a lot of things in my life as I worked too hard to move forward… I also did not take good care of people next to me and I felt guilty about that. Therefore, I wanted to express these feelings with the song."
The initial scene can be compared to a birth, plus Hwasa has the same dress used in Maria, connecting the two mvs and themes as Maria was like a rebirth to her and the water (another recurring theme) represents life.
When she opens the door the scene is like watching inside that box she came out but as you can see everything is black outside instead inside the box is bright because Hwasa is the light.
As we will see later there are 2 Hwasa, one watching inside the box and one actually inside of it “there’s no light without shadow” as Hwasa said.
The whole mv and lyrics are playing with dark and bright, white and black, you can clearly see it in this part “life is so incredible. Even if I go crazy my sin is beautiful” then “life is now so terrible I can’t cry even if I smile”.
Her sin is beautiful because she’s doing what she loves, music, but she feels like she’s sinning because she’s ‘mistreating’ herself and the people she loves.
This is her guilty pleasure: pushing herself beyond her limits.
We can spot flowers in the whole mv, the pictures in the blue room, she’s wrapped under plastic like a flower in a bouquet and in the room with white furnitures, the only touch of color are the flowers…Hwasa loves flowers and her symbol is a flower.
Talking about this room, in Maria mv Hwasa wearing a sort of straitjacket was monitored in a white tiles room, she was cornered by pencils (comments) pointing at her…now she’s free standing bold on those white tiles furnitures, this time she has a pencil in her hand and she’s completing a crossword with ‘Hwasa’ and ‘Crazy’. Basically she’s saying I’m crazy, so what? Again with the lyrics ‘In a word I’m out of my mind so far I’m alive’ like she has to go crazy working on music to really live.
In the ending scene there is another recurring theme since Maria, the snake, another symbol of rebirth, transformation. Historically, serpents and snakes represent fertility or a creative life force. Of course that scene is hinting to another mv she will release for another track from Guilty Pleasure album. Hwasa co-wrote and co-composed 2 out of 3 tracks and this is the first time she teams up with non-Korean music producers.

I wish I could love your video a million times. Hwasa is an artist through and through and the artist of my life. All of her solo work just speaks to me in a way no one else ever has. So happy you watched the I’m a B performance video because the whole song and performance is so underrated. I was literally crying while you watched LMM (Lost my Mind). There’s break down videos analyzing her lyricism and MVs that are super helpful. I love her so much!

The dancer you asked about is H1, she is from SWF season 1, she was in Lachica! You were right! She is now part of Team Hwa Sa! and one of Hwa Sa's choreographers.
The instrument used is a Geomungo 거문고 or 현금
The geomungo (also spelled komungo or kŏmun'go) or hyeongeum (literally "black zither", also spelled hyongum or hyŏn'gŭm) is a traditional Korean plucked zither with both bridges and frets. Geomungo is a representative stringed instrument made in Goguryeo before the 5th century.[1] Scholars believe that the name refers to Goguryeo and translates to "Goguryeo zither" or that it refers to the colour and translates to "black crane zither" (hyeonhakgeum, 현학금 / 玄鶴琴).
The geomungo's place in Korean culture is traditionally that of a scholars' instrument for self-cultivation, much like ancient Chinese had done with the guqin in China.

Not only do they help with the lyrics, and things that unless you are either Korean, or speak Korean fluently, you wouldn't understand by just reading the lyrics. They help with the hidden meanings in the videos and with letting you know things Hwa Sa intended with her lyrics, and her visuals in the MVs. I just wish the people who did these had continued and did videos for all of her songs, because I love them that much, and you will love her songs that much more after you watch these.

The instrument is called a gayageum/kayageum., and is the Korean version of a zither. It is based on the Chinese guzheng and is similar to the Japanese koto, Mongolian yatga, Vietnamese đàn tranh, Sundanese kacapi and Kazakh jetigen.
