Very incorrect, Purple is entirely overrated as a collective, Blackmore and Lord individually were phenomenal and had occasional moments of brilliance together but were dragged down by the rest. Early Rainbow was the best of Blackmore's rock n' roll career and Blackmores Night is where he always belonged and showed off his best compositions (again aside from Rainbow)

@@ricksturgis6403 Definitely a worthy consideration! DP is my number one, in that regard. I think Made in Japan is the greatest live album ever, and much of what the MK2 lineup did together was nothing short of brilliance. But, I see no wrong answers.. when choosing from amongst the legends.

Back in 1998, after school, I watched The Relic (movie) on my friend's VCD. This medley suddenly appear after the ending credits of the movie. It's so weird for it to be there but that's how I discovered this masterpiece. Good times.

I don't care how pissed off he was, people had paid good money to see him, and he put his own gripes before delivering to the audience who were clearly thrilled to see him. What a pity. Jon always said: "When someone buys a ticket, it's like a contract, and that contract says the person will play to the best of their ability". Ritchie didn't see it that way.
That's part of the reason why Blackmore was so exciting though- that temperamental guitarist thing. You never knew what was going to happen next. I've heard from people who were at that gig and none of them felt short-changed.
Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore were the true success of Deep Purple. Steve Morse and Don Airey, does anyone remember a single ??? What albums have been successful after Lord and Blackmore ???
I don't know about you, but I think Ted the Mechanic is an amazing song. Same with some of their recent stuff from "Whoosh!" Whoosh!, Nothing At All, Drop the Weapon, What the What.

When they came in Romania Jon Lord played Romanian classic composers' music during his solo! This was respect for the us the audience!
