Meet the world renowned fly tying expert and creator of the Jvice. This is a Lekker story about Jay Smit, a true craftsman.
Jay Smit developed a tying system (the Jvice) that is tailor made for the fly tier, a well-engineered and well thought-through vice. The system is also modular so you can buy bits and pieces as you go, you don’t need to buy the entire vice-kit all at once. You can start out with the basic vice and clamp and go from there.

I bought this vise in June of 2013. Still using it today. Still looks the same as when I bought it. Incredible workmanship. Thanks for this video.

I live in Colorado. My J-Vice is number 1757. Jay customized the base for my needs. He also made a custom caddy for my resins and head cement. He did a very nice job. The vise is beautiful and highly functional. I use it nearly every day as I'm getting ready for the next fishing season. The vise holds even tiny hooks ( e.g. size 26 ) firmly. I also have a bunch of his J Bobbins and Hackle Pliers. All are solid and well thought out.

I've own JVise for 2 years. Been tying flies for over 20 years. Jvise has been the best fly vise I've used to date.

What a beautiful and very well made vice Jay. I first saw it used by Gordon van der Spuy, Hans van Klinken and Peter Linders. This vice is on my wishlist.
Thank you for the nice demonstration in the workshop.
    Regards Bram Eijkman Holland.
