Oh yes, some black metal ! One of my top 10 from 2020. Melinoë is an excellent album ! I wouldn't recommend Akhlys to you but I'm glad you listened.
Numenorean - Adore (album : Adore) is more your style I think (post-black). Actually Adore is my #1 song from 2019, this song is absolutely beautiful.
I'm terribly upset with this album. Home is 10 times better. Adore was the biggest disappointment for me that year ... :(

naas is a genius. extremely talented individual. his old band excommunion made a comeback a few years ago after being on hiatus for over a decade although i still prefer their first album. different type of metal but heavy as fuck nonetheless. i recommend "rendering the demon gate" if you wanna check em out. his band nightbringer is amazing as well and closer to the style of akhlys than excommunion.

Y'all should try listening to this album end to end. It's very much more of what you already got - it's atmospheric, you'll be low-key vibing while the music surrounds you. All about the atmosphere.

Hey girls if their interesting the black metal, disonance, noise, etc. The first album whit these noise is Bathory from early 80"s 1984, and the second álbum the return and under the sing of black mark.

Akhlys is one of the most interesting black metal bands out there. And I loved you having to confess you like it. Because it is fucking great. And be careful not to go to a live act, or you'll become metalheads

I loled at the lotr thing. Yeah: death metal is for the bit where Gandalf is bellowing you shall not pass at the balrog. That scene is quintessential (good) death metal mood. Black metal is for the spider stalking Frodo. That scene is perfect black metal mood.
Unless we're gonna talk about bands like Siege Column or Aura Noir in which case, the same but you're in a really scuzzy bar drinking with the balrog and the spider...

Okay so two recommendations:
1 Shadow Of Intent - The Heretic Prevails (when will you react? pls?)
2 on a more instrumental level, I highly recommend checking out "SHIFT" from "Alex Rudinger" he is the current live and studio drummer(if it hasn't changed the past year) of Whitechapel.
You probably think ...ugh more Deathcore, however this song has no vocals and is at a drum festival from one of his endorsers. He is absolutely amazing and can
play left and right handed (very hard to master).
Great song, but not one I’d start someone with. That was a deep headlong dive for non Black Metalheads. Good on them. I would suggest Mgła for a well rounded starting point.

Without a shred of doubt the best black metal band from the U.S I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. I would definitely put Akhlys in the same category as bands like Deathspell Omega, Blut Aus Nord and even Funeral Mist. Very dark, chaotic and atmospheric.
Yes. As a swede I've always been quite sceptical about bmbands hailing from US, but Akhlys are amazing! Proved me wrong.
@@Kaasth-hhh Same here. I guess that American BM has had a slow start because they are such a strongly religious country, while here in Sweden religious people are a minority.
Black metal reactions are great, but talk about being thrown in the deep end with this one lol. Should have requested something less dense like Mgla to start with instead.

This type of black metal is hard to get into sometimes when you're not used to this scene
I'd suggest Harvest by Naglfar for a completely different experience with black metal, much more melodic !
This type of black metal is probably the easiest to get into. Clean production, mainly not repepetive riffs, drums etc. interesting ideas, image, lyrics themes. Naas is the guy, a mastermind. You comment woul fit if it would be under reaction of some Darkthrone/Burzum-like clone, definitely not under ths one.
The purpose of black metal, like its original intention was to turn away the "average" music listener.
It's a genre that makes a point to push people and make them uncomfortable.
Whether that's a good thing or not?....I have no idea, but It's an interesting way to create art and music.
There are bands out there that are a lot more accessible in the genre.
It's evolved from a very elitist genre to a pretty big and diverse genre.
Relax. It's not that big of a deal.

Quite possibly one of the finest releases of 2020. Sublime darkness. But definetly an acquired taste this.
I'm surprised at how much you guys grooved to this jam lol, I hate pop, country, and electronic music, but everything else is fair game, and this band definitely has a badass wall of sound, the stamina for the drummer is inhuman
Also, some writers purposefully use words that are relatively unknown in hopes that a certain percentage of people want to research and discover for themselves

Hola como estan?. Mi inglés no edm uy bueno por eso escribiré en castellano. Acá hay mucha indormación en su letra.
Aklys hace referencia al edtado del extasis parecido a la parelisis del sueño. Dicho estado es parecido a la incorporacion de un espiritu o dios o diosa, quién lo parece experimentado ese estado mencionado a la parelisis de sueño y posterior perdida de la conciencia.
Los dioses mencionados: primero Janus (Jano) es el dios del pasado y futuro es dios de las puertas y los caminos. Es un dios romano y en algunos paracticantes del ocultismo mas occidental le invocan como aquel que abre las puertas de lo diversos planos. Se le repreenta como un hombre con dos rostros uno adelante de un joven y uno atras de una anciano y su emblema son do llaves una de plata y otra de oro.
Pan es un palabra mayor, Aklys toma mucho de los himnos órficos ( explicado de manera simple es un culto esoterico en la época helena). Pan es el dios de los bosques, la sexualidad masculina, los poderes indomables de la naturalezaen la mitología griega. Pan es invocado como patrono del extasis violento parecido a orgxsmo es la fuerza que inicia a los magos y ocultistas a los misterios del inconsciente. Pan significa:" todo" , en la mitologia griega tien la forma de un hombre de la cintura para arriba de hombre y la cintura para abajo de patas traseras de cabra. El estado de pánico o miedo irracional viene de su nombre.
Cuando Aklys invoca a Pan habla del estado pánico sagrado de terror mistico de " ver al dios pan" que inicia al mago a los desconocido pero si no esta preparado puede caer en el miedo y la locura.

Listen to it alone in a pitch black room when noone is with you and then come back to tell us if you were able to finish the whole album. This is the proper way to listen this genre. Also even though this isn't (traditional black metal like early Mayhem, Burzum, or Bathory lets say) it's still one of a kind.

kinda interesting as well that a name like naas alcameth is seen as pretentious, when we have people like Dua Lipa, Lady Gaga or Drake around... not saying they are bad, I for one fancy Dua Lipa very much as well but the artist names of most modern pop/hip hop artists are hardly better than the admittedly sometimes ridiculous monikers some bands come up with.
Hehe to your point the first thing that popped up in my head was lil Nas X. Don't get me wrong, I think he's great and very talented, but real talk he could've called himself anything, and that's what he went with? Shit lil Nas alcameth would've been a better name 🤣.

It's all about diving into the wall of sound and following where it leads you. It's easy to be overwhelmed or distracted by the drums or singing. ;)
One man black metal bands. If you are interested check out the Noisey documentary called One Man Metal. It features 3 guys (Xasthur, Striborg and Leviathan) Also a fun one to listen to is the Ruins of Beverast. Also labeled as black metal, but definitely more doomy influences. A guy from Germany, but it's good stuff! I suck with titles, otherwise I would've thrown a few at you.

There's something really EDM to the guitars and drums on this (almost) whole album. I could imagine dancing to this live, reaching for the lasers at some end of the world apocalypse rave in crumbling ruins. This song especially makes me want to dance.
Also, between the two of you starting to groove to it with faces looking either deep in thought or like you expect to hate it, it's a picture perfect definition of cognitive dissonance

I'm a black metal fan but I don't get this band.
Not remotely musically interesting enough to justify the song length. I can take a long song, there are plenty of 8 minute+ ones in my music library spanning jazz to mathcore, but the good ones worth listening to more than once or twice earn their length.
I will say that the drummer is a machine and kudos to him if he ever manages to play this in one take.
