HELLA Matrix LED System

  • The Matrix LED System allows the driver to travel in his vehicle with a permanent high beam without risk of dazzling oncoming traffic or any preceding vehicles. Technically speaking, this function is achieved using LEDs with individual electronic control, which are turned up or dimmed down as required. Using the Matrix technology now makes it possible to open several tunnels at the same time. While these are "hidden", the high beam continues to illuminate all the areas between the vehicles and to the left and right of them at full power.

I enjoy reading comments from people who still cannot understand how a proper LED headlight system works from this video. Most headlight system that blinds other drivers are usually aftermarket HIDs and LEDs in the wrong headlight housings and are not compliant with DOT standards.

I bought I car where the previous owner put in bright LEDs me personally thought it be cool too see good at night until a cop pulled me over and said my lights where super bright. To me siting in the car seemed bright but not overly bright cop told me maybe they had to be aligned told me to just be careful at night cause might blind drivers. I decided to head home right away next day put halogens in. I’d rather be a safe responsible driver then a idiot with overly bright light making it unsafe for everyone else

This type was way better than the new HD matrix led, this actually cut the light accordingly, or rather made a "shadow" for approaching cars or the ones infront, the new HD just works by shortening the light instead of making a shadow path

This tech is so cool. I was driving a BMW 5 series and you could see how the light shifts and it worked excellent since I didn't get any flashes from the other drivers.BTW this tech works only on high beams which is used only outside of populated areas. I agree with these new type of headlights are and can be blinding. That being said, I would venture to say, when these bulbs are installed, the headlight assembly is not re-aligned per vehicle manufacture specs. There are AXIS adjustments (at a specific distance the center point supposed to be adjusted. i.e., at 6ft. from the headlamp on a level ground, the main part of the beam is 3ft. high) where the main focus of the beam is supposed to be adjusted to. I would say most are aimed to high.

They make this sound so neccessary... "Approx 30% of all accidents occur at night"... *Well* *that* *means* *70%* *occur* *during* *the* *day* ... 30% at night sounds pretty good to be honest.
It seems pretty pointless and the next lighting gimmic next to _sweeping_ _indicators_ ; what they also fail to mention is:
    - "how long does it take the software to recognise a vehicle, and adjust the light pattern so it doesn't immediately blind that driver?"
    - "how accurate is the software at recognising vehicles? If the windscreen is slightly obscured by rain or road dirt, how much does this affect this accuracy?"
    - "Will the vehicle recognition software recieve updates?"
You only need 1 exception for someone to be blinded by this.
When this breaks due to age, vandalism, etc. it's going to cost an absolute fortune to repair or replace, because there is no way it'll be allowed on the road if it's not functioning correctly.

Good lightning for the owner but I'm sceptic about disturbing other drivers. It's stated that this lights does not glare others, but I see problem elsewhere. Cars equiped with this kind of lights also iluminate road to other users in near visinity and when they leave them they also take the ilumination. To some point I find this disturbing since for the others it's the same thing as turning the light out.

We must have them in india

No, because in India drivers don’t follow red lights, proper neat straight roads. And there’s so much cars that crowd and don’t use turn signals and don’t follow proper driving. What the point of having it in India then?
