- It's been a busy day getting the Caravan ready for our first trip out. Long Clip......Sorry!!!!
We have cleaned it inside and out, got rid of stuff we don't need and checked everything is working before we go.
We have found a leaking tap, which I have now got the part for it and will upload replacement of the part.
I have also been trying out a new microphone, Rode videomicro, Please let me know if the sound is ok.

I am a class 1 driver too.... i am amazed at the amount of people who do not check wheel nuts etc. Always torque the nuts before every trip and again before we leave a site!
It’s overlooked, ‘it will never happen to me’ attitude, I torqued mine up before we left and they needed it! Thanks for watching. Martin 👍
Ive never understood why people torque up caravan nuts but never the car. The alloy car wheels sit on steel hubs as do the caravan wheels but car manufacturers dont recommend torqueing up before each trip, or after the first 30 mile.
If you park up on a site overnight do you recheck the torque next day gefore setting off again and once again, 30 mile later? Where does it end?
I do check the caravan wheel nuts before every trip but don’t stop on my journey to check them, I also check the car wheel nuts a couple of times a year. You can go over the top with it but I don’t! 👍
Brilliant video. You covered loads of stuff there. Got to get mine ready again soon, great to see what you do. Please keep them coming!
Thanks Jeff, hope all goes well getting your van ready. Cheers 👍
Soon as you said Walk round checks lol .. new you were a driver.. hope you filled your defect book in ..🤔😉
Ha ha, oh how I miss the defect book! 👍
Hi Martin, I noticed that you use WD40 in your van. I stopped using that about 5 years ago when I had a problem with some of the locks on the van. I now use XCP Pro. It dose not react with plastics or aluminium and will not freeze.
Glad to see you use Puraclean. Thanks for your tips. Mic is okay but could be a bit louder for us deaf old gits. Cheers
Mike.
Hi Mike, Thanks for the advice on the XCP Pro, will be getting some of that. We use the puraclean a few times a year, got to keep the pipes clean! Thanks for comments and watching. Martin 👍
Masterclass for the reversing in one ! Jobs going at my place for shutters if you are interested 😀
Interesting what you said about the stabiliser I didn’t know that
Thanks gavin
Cheers Gavin, will stay working in a school for now, more holidays for caravanning! 👍
Just in passing Martin I notice you have ATC and that has a check light - what it does not have is any warning if that fails on route electrically, however, this system is only a sticking plaster - I operated a fleet of LGVs for 20 years and qualified transport engineer. You will know as lgv license holder that the shorter the combination the harder it is to reverse just like 20ft containers compared to 40ft. Also the correct way of loading a trailer is to load it evenly along the platform and this is true when loading your caravan - it is wrong to put all heavy items just over the axle since the lighter the ends are the more responsive to wind it will be to set off sway contrary to what you have been told. This is why I carry two electric bikes on the back of my van and have "Differential Stability" to ensure it does not start swaying in the first place.
Shame about the tap, otherwise a good day for you. Excellent reversing and good use of cameras to make the film. Thanks for sharing. Trev
Thanks Trev, tap update this evening hopefully! Cheers Martin
Hi just started watching your channel. We store in the same place and live just down the road from you in Bradshaw. We too are off on Friday so I am up to storage this lunchtime to do some packing. This will be our 3rd trip away this year since New Year. Cheers
I am going up later to repair leaking tap! Bay M7, come and say hello. Just at home waiting for British Gas, 8 to 12 appointment so that could be any time! Cheers
I'll be up there about 12:30 so we may there the same time. We are in H3.
Yes, nuther good un! exactly like your front bin? mine was a mess? but not now! I bought curcular zipped bags for my water pipe & waste pipe, Lovely! nice n' neat n' tidy int bin! g'won you have to get em! to stay sane? (Motovational video? NOW I will after clean me van?)
Our new van is a little tidier but will now be looking for zipped bags for water & waste! 👍
This came on after watching your latest, was an interesting watch, I do all those identical checks almost to ocd levels, and the application of the stabiliser after I’ve pulled out and got straight. Seems funny seeing the Lunar in 2021 now that you have the Bailey.
I think if you have the same routine your less likely to miss something. The Lunar was a great van. cheers
Great video, I have just came across your channel. I shall be watching your other videos. One thing I noticed is your aerial is not pointing the correct way. According to the manual the wider end of the aerial should be facing the front of the caravan. Looking forward to future videos.
Thanks for watching, I will have a look at the aerial situation. Cheers Martin 👍
Leaky lunar’s the newer ones are known as now. Everyone I have met who has the new models have all said the same. A couple of them have even returned their vans and swooped them.
Yes I have heard people saying this and that vans have been sent back.
Nice vid. Your intro and outros are better👍 the sounds better🤙. Man you have a lot of stuff in your front locker! It looked like you may need a new breakaway cable as it has no red on it and the clip looks worn, maybe you could change it for a more secure carabiner style, easy change great fix. All the best Oliver
Thanks Oliver, ah yes the breakaway cable.....another job I keep saying I need to do, every time we go away! Will have to do it now you have spotted it..ha ha. Cheers 👍
Reversed like a pro
cheers 🙂
I have that wallpaper 🤣
I see you keep your caravan in storage outside.... is it because of space you Don keep it at home... we have a large drive and wondered whether to put it into internal storage for the winter?? Are caravans OK outside all year
We don’t have room at home for the van and cover it over winter. It would be great to store the caravan inside but for the majority of people that’s not an option. cheers
