I did when I saw the concept. How ever I'm not interested in this. I'm only here cus I like 44 teeth. The seat and tank shape ruin the looks for me. Probably fun to ride but it's to ugly for me.
Let’s hope it’s better than the 690 duke. My thing broke down if you did more than 20 miles on it and Ktm had it for six weeks and f in useless. Ktm suck
XSR900 has three modes, and there is a palpable difference between B and A modes. Some find the modes extraneous, however I find them very useful for a number of reasons, and frequently switch between them depending on weather mainly.
Nice review, am glad I changed my mind and went for the Street Triple though, I think This needs an "R" version to really be a contender, although I will eat my words when I get a demo on one if proven wrong.
but there currently is no "R" version coz they want folk to buy this one first, possibly because they wouldn't sell any of these if there was an "R" version.
there will be a R-version for sure - but because we want it, not only because they can sell it ;) it's a sick situation; I guess most people would even pay more, if there was a RR-version (higher, faster, better, more expensive -> i want it; we buy it. So they just play our game with us, ........ or let's say against us ;-)
Very good and professional review! And thanks for the compensations with the Street Triple and the MT09. What about the Z900? Thanks! Hello from Vietnam!
8 minutes in discussing throttle response in track mode. I feel your pain. my audi is almost undriveable in sport around town, I still want the Husqvarna though
Smooth (ish) 20 degrees roads is one thing..3 degrees in London..with non adjustable suspension??...It might be a scalpel but one ride in the UK on this and all you're gonna cut..is yourself! Still gonna demo it..
"This couldn't be my only BIKE" comment puts me off. Was going to get this to replace my 765r as my only bike. May have to look elsewhere. Also expected loads of low down grunt supermoto style, that engine sounds more like 848.
All non-electronic suspensions are essentially non-adjustable; once you adjust them to your weight and riding style, you don't adjust them anymore. If factories set them perfect from the start, there wouldn't be any need for adjustment. Yet no one is the same weight, height, or riding style.
Nope. You also adjust them according to envrionment, eg myy local B road and my local track: what suits one dont suit the other, even though its the same rider.....
Environment is only one more parameter. Once set, it's essentially non adjustable. It's quite possible to have the right spring rates and damping rates for a given person in a given location on a given piece of pavement. Can the average motorcyclist actually utilize adjustable suspension? Do they get off the machine and twiddle with a wrench and screwdriver before they get to a canyon road? I think it would be easier to adjust their riding style than turn screws that few people even understand how they work. Otherwise you gotta pay a thousand dollars more and it no longer remains competitive in the class and KTM loses interest.
Some people don't adjust adjustable suspension, but plenty do. If you were right, Ohlins (for example) wouldn't exist, since everyone would have adapted to the questionable and largely non adjustable suspension that was around when Ohlins started...... It's a bit like saying every bike should have the same tyres.
Adjustable suspension is good stuff. Nothing wrong with it. It just costs over 1000 dollars more to go from your typical fixed units to the adjustable stuff. 1000 dollars minimum. Add in the hi/low speed circuits and other later technical innovations and the cost just goes up from there.
cost cutting and cheap compared to the usual ktm forumla, which is fine i understand what they are doing, but the brakes, suspension, cable clutch etc, no thanks maybe id be interested in the r model but ill keep my 690 smcr and just get another 1290 if i want a naked bike again.
I would be really interested in a mt 07 where they had a 800cc parallel twin instead (so it would have the 270 degree crank with just a bit more hp than the current mt 07 but both more manageable than the mt 09 and not quite that much hp as then it gets to the point it needs to start to have the electronic aids like they added now to the mt 09). I dont think they will do it because it would canabilize their mt 09, but i thought it might be a better all around bike that can be at the cost of the current mt 07
Niklas i get what you are saying, but i thot an extra 10 to 15 hp with the same torque would be awesome. But they would probably have to stiffen the suspension up somewhat
In Norway this KTM 790 DUKE cost 188 000,- whit some extra everyone wants... it cost a lot here Around 19 334 €uro Around 17 355 Pund £ (GBP) Around 21 998 $ Dollars (USD)
The only problem with bikes like this is when you buy one you ride it every where you can where you live. After awhile you, after doing this it will get boring. How many times will you want to ride the same roads over and over and over. This bike will make a good commuter bike but you really don't ever get to use everything that this bike can do so why have it? If you ride 25 miles or more to work then you might prefer a more comfortable ride. Yes you can play on your off days on the same roads that you have gotten bored with but you might want to take a trip away from where you live. Hence the more comfortable ride. I would opt for a sport tourer that one of these. Maybe KTM will come out with one with this motor. I rode my Street Triple to the Smokies Mts. which is 5 hrs each way and just loved it. I had my 09 Stiple for over 5 yeas and only got rid of it because of the oil oil seepage around the motor.
Great review..but will it be reliable? New engine from KTM? Doubt it will be..rode the 690 in Tenerife and it broke down. Rode the 1190 in Tenerife and it rattled a lot and the electronics were not all working
Bez Bizara have you ever ridden on Tenerife? The roads are some of the best in the world and the weather is excellent. 1 of many places that I have ridden around the world. Travel and motorcycling are my main passions.
you watch what stiff suspenders and engine as a stressed member does... it will pull the motor apart, all it will take is a few big potholes and there ya go... engines as stressed members instead of full cradle is the worst idea ever. I have never had a bike that has a stressed member engine stay copasetic for long...
If this was my money I’d go with the MT-09 for a few hundred quid more. Proven reliability. I don’t want to wake up every day wondering if something will go wrong with my bike

So OK, the bike is 8,500 GBP in the UK, which more or less is 9,600 EUR: www.google.com.tr/search?q=8500+pounds+to+euros&oq=8500+pounds+to+euros And, here's the case in Turkey as of now: www.spormoto.com/ktm-fiyat-listesi I do think that our government has the most -correct- *profitable* understanding of the term "tax haven", indeed... *Sigh
Have to be honest I'm not impressed , yes it has colour dash etc but as with other KTMs will the engine be reliable and durable 105bhp from a 790 twin is quite a lot and the 690 engines are known to be a bit fragile , I think putting adjustable suspension on it and losing the colour dash and traction control would have been a better idea but hey I'm a wanker wtf do I know .
Aleksander Krajisnik Thats what I am waiting for my will save my money and buy that one... hopefully with more than 110hp and less weight than standard version
If ever there were two blokes to front a new top gear style bike programme on tv I'm looking at em right now, chuck a female motorcycle journalist in the mix as well and you have the perfect tv show. Oh well, maybe one day. Sad face sad face sad face
Great review guys. I'm not going to lie - I've been waiting for this one since the show bike blew my mind, and I'm definitely going to book a test ride now! Please keep up the great work!
I love how on the road sections everyone keeps to the lines and Fagan is all over the place xD These reviews really have been brilliant lately, much higher quality than the usual motorcycle magazines.
This bike just doesn't look right. It looks like one group designed the front and, and another the rear, and never talked about it, then just bolted the two bits together. The two parts do not merge well at all.
Eastern Menace if honda built the back, then they should build really nice looking motorcycles. Instead they put square looking shitty swingarms and the back are all same old same old. European manufacturers build the most beautiful motorcycles unfortunately not the most reliable.
The plate holder looks like shit (but it always does with stock motorcycles). But this one in particular is really meh. Not mentioning that the tail light is directly on it so it's a bummer. I understand the exhaust looks like shit too because Euro4, but man why did they put a huge passenger seat, why did they fucked up with the suspensions and still label it "scalpel" naked bike made for sporty riding type of people? And the long gearing on a twin engine, it's made for torque, not top speeds otherwise I would buy a four cylinder smh
You know how ktm and husqvarna are like the same company! i wonder what husqvarna does with this bike and this engine if they get their hands on it?! Nuda 2.0?!!!!!!!!! holy shit!!! that would be FUCKING AMAZING!!!
What happened to the concept bike because of emission laws or because ktm got lazy and didn’t want to fabricate another setup they new it was gonna pass euro 4 so wtf are they doing I was so stoked for this honestly now I’m let down and they got rid of Brembo...... wtf ktm
Lifted_Above still looked better then a big dildo hanging off to the side this bike was sick now it’s just a boner kill love the front end hate the rest of it had an opportunity to take one for a spin and the seat will be the first thing that gets modded
Us that grew up on moto cross bikes don't actually require all the gadgets and gizmos. We can get on any damn bike we like and ride the hell out of IT.....WITHOUT ANY DAMN RIDER ASSISTANCE ELECTRONICS.
Best review I've seen for the 790 so far. great how its compared to mt09 an street not the mt07.still not sure if it buy the mt09sp .please review all 3 back to back .vid of the year.
IL MOSTRO meh, if journalists want invited to any other unveiling by any brand they can't say anything negative. Take whay you hear with a grain of salt until the small time reviewers get their hands on these.
Cracking vid chaps. Best Duke 790 review online at the moment. However, where is your Duke 690 test?? With it's low weight advantage, surely it could keep up with the 790 on the twistie roads!? I just picked up a new 2017 Duke 690 (exactly same as 2018 model apart from some graphics and colour changes) for €6,000! That's 5,000 in the queens money!! Is the 790 3,000 pounds better?? My 690 also cam with Track Pack :-)
I wouldn't say 790 is 3k better but it's clearly way better than 690. On the smaller one, I need to flick through gears very quickly to keep it in the powerband, I can already feel I'm reaching the bike's limits. I was not able to push 790 to its limits though, I'm still not that experienced.
Was really looking forward to this bike, the concept was mind blowing!! And I know production bikes never the same as the concept but this is actually pretty boring looking, there is something about silver plastic that I really don't like. I love the look of the 1290 and even the new 390 looks really good, but this just looks plain in comparison. For the money this bike is a steal, and i thought I would straight down to my local dealer throwing money at him but I'm just not sure I can get over the looks... never know hopefully it'll grow on me!!
Why dont you suggest these guys to have a presentation in Cyprus? We have the best twisty roads here. Or is it a matter of cost that forces them to have every presentation in Spain?
Too bad it does not look like the prototype. Lets hope there will be kits out there to convert it to something like that. I mean it pretty much is a different subframe, a different airbox and a pipe right thorugh...
Guys could you please do a review where you basically just keep repeating “Sadiq Khan your a bellend and your new no private bike in London law is a fucking stupid idea” over and over again?
In my 46 years of experience my 790 Duke is the absolute best machine I have ever thrown a leg over. KTM got it absolutely right straight from the get go. Can't imagine a better engine.
Please review a huski 701. I would be interested in seeing one of you guys try a supermoto type bike, to compare against your ss/naked/etc type bike /preference/
DhaAng B DeRes I will upload that next month. For now I have a Street Triple RS video and I will upload the z900 review by next week. In the z900 review I have compared it with the Street triple RS.
Great review. Planning to upgrade from my. MT-07 next year as I’ll have two years riding under my belt. One question. Could you tour on this? Could you add some wind protection?
For my next bike I'm undecided between getting an older second hand S1000R, or an MT-09, or a Street Triple R, or a new 790 Duke... I never intend to use it on a track, just road use only. The lighter the better, and I really want to have an up/down quickshifter/blipper on my next bike.
Good job chaps. So KTM has hit it out of the park with the 790. Good news there. I want the comfy riding version however to go with my leather cardigan.
Bought the bike off the back of this and many other reviews....at 1850 miles my bike needed a complete engine rebuild as a result of a hairline crack in the cylinder head that must have been missed at the point of testing when originally put together. The dealership took three months to fix my bike, upon returning it and having to run it in again, the very first time I fired it up....it was leaking coolant. It's back with the dealership....again. Fantastic bike when working, rubbish bike when sat in the dealership workshop. I think I'll be px'ing it come springtime.
who else have been searching 'duke 790' video on youtube everyday?
hahaha! Same for me! And this will be the case until next week, when my orange one will finally arrive at my dealer. Can't wait!
Same here, and this will be for the coming years until I manage to gather enough money to buy one.. ;p
wow cool. gonna be another year till it reached our market here
I did when I saw the concept. How ever I'm not interested in this. I'm only here cus I like 44 teeth. The seat and tank shape ruin the looks for me. Probably fun to ride but it's to ugly for me.
790 Adventure* :)
I appreciate the effort you put into micing up properly. The sound got much higher quality, cheers to that!
Much better than the Bike World review. Thanks lads!
Best motorcycle channel imo
Let’s hope it’s better than the 690 duke. My thing broke down if you did more than 20 miles on it and Ktm had it for six weeks and f in useless. Ktm suck

It is an easy bike to remap the ECU up to 15 more HP, try that against any street triple you like
@@chrischristofis8501 I got a Gixer 750 instead 🙂148bhp on tap
Love my 2018 Duke 790.
Great handling and engine.
Original brakes work well but lack feel.
Standard suspension is good.
Great review but not a Street Triple beater. Ridden those roads in Gran Canaria and they are amazing.
Please post the duke 390 vs r3 comparison you teased in the new years' video! +44Teeth
I really hope they bring out an R version!
So what are the chances KTM will release a 790 R with Brembos, (Akras) and tunable fork/shock? Guess that'd destroy the competition, no?
Another well made professional review guys! Me thinks though that I may like the Brutale better.
When can we see the next budget bike battle?? Nice Duke video guys, not my cuppa aesthetically but maybe a test ride would sway me!!
Will you be reviewing the 890 soon?
Very good and professional review! And thanks for the compensations with the Street Triple and the MT09. What about the Z900? Thanks! Hello from Vietnam!
im still happy with the dragster 800 for less swingarm but this is a serious contender i do love my 390 duke
Baron wasn’t interested he knows the 1290 is the only duke 😎
Best MC reviewers on RUclips. Love you guys, thanks. 790 Duke or the new Speed??
Congrats on winning the Gymkhana. Well Done!
Thought I was going mad. Got the notification but the video isn't in your video list???
RUclips trying to fuck us over again, probably
I think I'll keep my 765RS

How was your demo? I was actually surprised how well the nonadjustable suspension handled my frame weight. I could easily live with that.
Jason is back.
"This couldn't be my only BIKE" comment puts me off. Was going to get this to replace my 765r as my only bike. May have to look elsewhere. Also expected loads of low down grunt supermoto style, that engine sounds more like 848.
If its choppy as fuck there, imagine it in blighty....... non adjustable damping..... come on.

Nice video gentlemen. Question is, should I trade in my Duke 690 R to get one?
no, the 790 has 1 cylindre too much; i'll keep mine as well ;)
I'm doing it in a few months, loving the bigger brother.
I also roll in ktm 790 duke on my chain, I also install some parts
Best as usual... what else can I say!
How does it compare to the Hypermotard 821/939? We don't get it down under for another couple of months!
cant wait to see for myself what the power is like!
How about the comparison between the Ducati 821 middleweight?
great review as always!!!
cost cutting and cheap compared to the usual ktm forumla, which is fine i understand what they are doing, but the brakes, suspension, cable clutch etc, no thanks maybe id be interested in the r model but ill keep my 690 smcr and just get another 1290 if i want a naked bike again.

MT07 has way too poor suspension and other components to handle more power..
Niklas i get what you are saying, but i thot an extra 10 to 15 hp with the same torque would be awesome. But they would probably have to stiffen the suspension up somewhat
In Norway this KTM 790 DUKE cost

Around 19 334 €uro
Around 17 355 Pund £ (GBP)
Around 21 998 $ Dollars (USD)

How does it compare to the Ducati Monster 821 ?
so which is the better a2 bike
Anyone have any knowledge of the reliability of the bike ?
Great review..but will it be reliable? New engine from KTM? Doubt it will be..rode the 690 in Tenerife and it broke down. Rode the 1190 in Tenerife and it rattled a lot and the electronics were not all working
Bez Bizara have you ever ridden on Tenerife? The roads are some of the best in the world and the weather is excellent. 1 of many places that I have ridden around the world. Travel and motorcycling are my main passions.
How does this stack up to an Aprilia Shiver 750?
The headlights remind me of Alex Baldwin's "monster face" in Beetlejuice
Not bad ;)
Nice mid range fighter
looking for a new bike to retire my 99' SV650S, cant decide if i want a 790, a Street triple, or a mt 09 :(
SunzOffski a bit off on price, on my country it goes for almost 11000€
SunzOffski Also i dont want a i4, i do prefere to have more torque
so is chris just mad that he didnt get to go or?

OMG those roads. 😍
Illinois sucks!
Illinois sucks? Those guys have to ride shitty UK roads on a daily, you have no clue :P
Maybe Rottweiler will do a intake kit for this bike too to release a few more ponies 😎
and wings do an exhaust
Build Quality Issues ? 4:06
That is a tail tidy...
Guys bikers drink red bull
KTM bikers drink adrenaline!!

I do think that our government has the most -correct- *profitable* understanding of the term "tax haven", indeed...

Thks guys.

Sod the mcn review I've been waiting for this! Good work boys
how does it compare to the brutale 800?
I pass on other vids waiting for the 44Teeth review... Worth it every time.
Another great video fellas. Puts the competition (read bigger channels) to shame!
So basically, wait for the 790 Duke R with the Öhlins, Brembo, Akra exhaust and Supercorsas.
Aleksander Krajisnik Thats what I am waiting for my will save my money and buy that one... hopefully with more than 110hp and less weight than standard version
Can't see Ohlins on a KTM when they own WP suspension. Might see upgraded sussies on it and a bit more power on an R version.
About a year ago a KTM executive said there would be a r version with about 115hp. No comment on brake/suspension at that point.
Supercorsas on showroom streetbikes is dumb, gimme some S21's, Rosso3's, etc.
Aleksander Krajisnik i’m waiting for the 790adventure
If this is a scalpel, the 1290 Adv S is a meat cleaver
CPUspeed 🤣🤣🤣
Nah. Sledgehammer.
Lifted_Above jackhammer
With a lot less vibration than a jackhammer.
What about a pointed stick?
The majority of people won’t be throwing this on a track so I think the suspension is justified for this 790
The Suspension for 90kg is soooo Bad! 😮
And the more money for the 890r is 🙄 because the Suspension of the 890r is not so good like the Triumph Öhlins!
If ever there were two blokes to front a new top gear style bike programme on tv I'm looking at em right now, chuck a female motorcycle journalist in the mix as well and you have the perfect tv show.
Oh well, maybe one day. Sad face sad face sad face
Trevor Bailey I'm sick of sayin this.... Its never going to work with only two of them... They need a third northern wheel.... 😁😉😂
They need an older more mature gent, perhaps someone with a passing resemblance to Sean Connery perhaps..
Get JoJo on it
Just add Nicki shields done!
Rember though you would only get 12 one hour shows a year and 45 minutes of that is going to be scripted unfunny b.s.
Love the editing and video quality! Easily on par with any other channel out there and honestly exceeds most by far. You guys are doing awesome
Those roads were very hit and miss haha. Can't wait to ride it though! Nice review!
PistonHeadChaz fellow subber, nah fam
Nice analogy about the 390 duke and 1290 hahaha.
Sexy sex
Great review guys. I'm not going to lie - I've been waiting for this one since the show bike blew my mind, and I'm definitely going to book a test ride now! Please keep up the great work!

Looks like KTM made the front and Honda made the back
Eastern Menace if honda built the back, then they should build really nice looking motorcycles. Instead they put square looking shitty swingarms and the back are all same old same old. European manufacturers build the most beautiful motorcycles unfortunately not the most reliable.
True. The rear kinda reminded me of the NC700s but now that I googled it and had a closer look it's nothing like it
The plate holder looks like shit (but it always does with stock motorcycles). But this one in particular is really meh. Not mentioning that the tail light is directly on it so it's a bummer. What confuses me about gymkana is those goddamn cones ! if only i knew which way to friggin go...
You know how ktm and husqvarna are like the same company! i wonder what husqvarna does with this bike and this engine if they get their hands on it?! Nuda 2.0?!!!!!!!!! holy shit!!! that would be FUCKING AMAZING!!!
I was only interested in this bike when it had the under seat exhaust now it looks meh.
Looks like a load of shit compared to the concept bike
What happened to the concept bike because of emission laws or because ktm got lazy and didn’t want to fabricate another setup they new it was gonna pass euro 4 so wtf are they doing I was so stoked for this honestly now I’m let down and they got rid of Brembo...... wtf ktm
Under-seat exhaust is so early 2000's. Roasts the butt and adds a lot of weight and extra cost.
Lifted_Above still looked better then a big dildo hanging off to the side this bike was sick now it’s just a boner kill love the front end hate the rest of it had an opportunity to take one for a spin and the seat will be the first thing that gets modded
Where would you like to put a Euro4 catalyzer? There's only so many places for that.

Monster 821 vs 790 Duke Head-2-Head review.... go!
IL MOSTRO meh, if journalists want invited to any other unveiling by any brand they can't say anything negative. Take whay you hear with a grain of salt until the small time reviewers get their hands on these.
The 821 will get slayed.
I've owned the 821 Monster. A nice middleweight bike but would get its ass kicked by my 790 Duke.
Yeeeesss woke up at 1.15am in Brisbane to watch this when the notification came up
Was really looking forward to this bike, the concept was mind blowing!!
Going to get some hate BUT the Street Triple RS nearly made me sleep. 790? Bought one after first test ride.
Different strokes for different folks so don't listen to em'
I've got no clue what people see in those triples. Rode Tiger 800 and I thought the engine is broken it was so slow.
2 years late all hale the new 890 duke r boom
Great concept fukn ugly styling....hope a Husqvarna Vitpilen version comes out!
Please 44 teeth do Vitpilen 701
Why dont you suggest these guys to have a presentation in Cyprus? We have the best twisty roads here. Or is it a matter of cost that forces them to have every presentation in Spain?
Journalists in Cyprus get killed , that why...
Gran Canaria is very easy to get to from UK. And pretty cheap.

I got the impression that the bold bloke were talking to his psychologist! He he!
Was waiting for this!
Ride With Rahul can you have a comparison video between street triple rs and z900? I'm liking your reviews. -from Philippines
DhaAng B DeRes I will upload that next month. For now I have a Street Triple RS video and I will upload the z900 review by next week. In the z900 review I have compared it with the Street triple RS.
Ride With Rahul nice, man.. I'm looking forward for that
have been waiting review from you guys!
Once again JEALOUS!!! Awesome review and have been waiting for this from 44! I trust and love your
reviews over anybody else. Now 1290 or 790...
If you can afford it 1290 all the way.
Ahh Fresh orange 🍊🍊❤😀
Does Anyone else just hit the like button before even watching the video? You just know it’s going to be good with you guys, keep up the great work.
Thanks Lads! Great review as always, even if Baron looked quite sarcastis and bitter at the beginning.
JS gets chinned by Duke...😉
Great review. Planning to upgrade from my. MT-07 next year as I’ll have two years riding under my belt. One question. Could you tour on this? Could you add some wind protection?
Yes
For my next bike I'm undecided between getting an older second hand S1000R, or an MT-09, or a Street Triple R, or a new 790 Duke... I never intend to use it on a track, just road use only. The lighter the better, and I really want to have an up/down quickshifter/blipper on my next bike.
Samgab what did you get in the end?
Much like those cyclist seats, LOL.
I think I'll be px'ing it come springtime.
that's why I never buy brand new bikes
