Fantastic - When I was a teenager in the 60s I could not wait to leave Bridgwater to see the world. Now I am 68 I cannot wait to settle back there.

Ah I remember seeing King Kev, went with my mam, we followed Beefy around that was taken when Sir Vivian Richards had his testimony year. Keegan played for the Toon Army who were fighting for Promotion to Div one. I'm sure we'd just beaten Man City Being a Toon fan this was the highlight of my visit. I was probably standing just a few yards away when that photo was taken must of been about 1982? My wife bought her wedding shoes in Wedding Bells that was 33 years ago August. Still some wonderful pics of a fantastic old town, some things you remember like yesterday others you're saying "where's the heck that too" ❤ many thanks

Wow Brian, is there anything left of the town now? I emigrated in 2015, I used to visit my mates, but was living in equally depressing Yeovil at the time. but it was almost all gone then, but I imagine there is nothing left on the high street now? We tried to save the basin Bridge and telescopic bridge engines out at Westonzoyland Engine Trust. Our engineer, Geoff used to live in the brige keepers cottage, but those gears were taken whilst we attempted to get a preservation order on them. Mind you the council felt guilty and we got some pumping engines from the canal on the Taunton side as a compromise, and a nice pug from the old Wills factory.

Thanks for sharing. I loved that washing line mural by the old car park of market street. So many old sites bringing back old memories of growing up there.

Lovely to see all these photos. I particularly enjoyed seeing the one of Rex Browning - I sang with that choral society under his baton for forty years!

Amazing photos that brought back some great memories. Not sure the modern developments really helped our town particular when the big super markets arrived.
