Hi Yardley, these two are having a problem, the first question I have is exactly how does your unwillingness to talk to them makes it difficult to help you!. In the end they have to do exactly what they should have done to start with! and still they have to walk away without what they asked for. This encounter was a good effort to try the silent treatment but it is so very difficult to just stand there and let them rattle on, in fact I think they will have learned more overall they they might otherwise have done, because they did not get the satisfaction they craved to start with but had to go away disappointed, this leads to what we call negative reinforcement and eventually leads to the adoption of more effective strategies. You guys know where you're going so it is easy to google the specific policy regarding the use of BWV, possibly for every different constabulary. This information gives you a weapon against a constable who says 'I don't have to'. Oh, your policy says this, exactly......... what other regulations or laws do you choose to ignore? Are you corrupt?' In a similar vein it always makes me chuckle when they have identified themselves, sometimes after a few attempts while they struggle to remember their number and name and then ask for the 'auditor's' i.d., which is declined. They then often say, 'but I've given you mine so why can't you identify?' It reminds me of being in primary school...'if I show you mine will you show me yours?'
It occurs to me that if a police car is parked on yellow/red lines when not on an emergency call it would be perfectly in order to stick a warning notice on the windshield to advise the driver. Annoying for the driver who wouldn't want to take it further as that would expose their bad parking habit. What's good for the goose is good for the gander clearly.
Sadly, unless you're a parking warden or similar, they'll probably pull the "touching our cars, and putting notices on em is criminal damage" routine. A verbal rebuke is shrugged off, and a sticker/ notice, will likely get you grief from the" club house gang".
