2024! Wow! 2023 has been so wonderful building this community on RUclips, and all of us having such a wonderful time together with the ships! I feel blessed to know each one of you and to have such a wonderful people interact with each other constantly watching these ships. It’s an absolute blessing! Boat Friends forever!👍⛴️
One of the things I like about this awesome ship, is she has an extra deck level on the aft superstructure. This makes that section really stand high. The captain certainly has a nice view up there! You can really see this starting at 9:35. Stop the video at 10:40 and count the 6 levels! The Burns Harbor is in the same class as fleet mates Walter J McCarthy Jr, Indiana Harbor, American Integrity, and American Century, however her extra deck on the aft superstructure differentiates things and makes her extra-extra special in my eyes.
Hey, that’s fine with me, I’ll just head up to Canada. Plenty of ships up there for me to check out too! Happy Saturday my friend🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦👋👋👋⛴️⛴️⛴️⛴️⛴️
Hello Mike and Boat Friend Community. It's about 60 degrees with rain in Kerman CA (Central Cali). Watch all these videos and appreciate your knowledge, great attitude, and positive vibe. Thank you.
You know what is crazy, I would’ve said at this time of year I wanted that 60°, but I have been waiting for some snow, maybe it’s some from Minnesota, I’m not sure? It was so wonderful to see it snowing today with the ship during the live stream.
I get Prairie Home Companion vibes when I watch your show on Saturday afternoons/evenings. You are The Garrison Keillor of Boat watching my friend. Happy 2024 .❤❤❤❤❤❤
Loved the pictures the boat friends sent into you Mike. Thats quite the shot of the Burns Harbor coming in with the light snow coming down. The Burns Harbor looks massive coming up that canal. There is a good size crowd along the canal wall. Wow, that was quite the pivot. Always looks cool to see the ships disappear into the fog. Great video Mike! Have a great 2024. I'm looking forward to an exciting new year of your videos!
Congratulations!! Here's 🥂 to 20,000 subs Mike!! You've worked hard and brought us some awesome content. I can't wait to see what 2024 has in store for the Boat Friends.
Mike, so many great memories that you gave us in 2023. I can hear my uncle's voice as he did what all the lift bridge operators have done since and will continue to do as they open this harbor for all the ships. I'll be forever grateful to you for posting his story. Here's wishing you and all the boat friends a blessed 2024. I hope we all take the life we've been given and make it the best for all we meet. ❤
Can you please provide me his name one more time? I want to find that story and post it again. There might be many people that didn’t see the story of the first time. I want them to read it.

My father rode the Queen Mary ocean liner over to Europe during WWII and found it an unforgettable experience- and I grew up on his glowing tales about it. I think my interest in these large ships may stem from his stories! Though obviously these lake freighters have an entirely different (though equally important) purpose, watching them in motion gives me a little bit of an idea of what the QM may have looked like when sailing, as my dad rode on her- and especially this ship does, as it is about the same length as QM. That turn was magnificently navigated! I was glad to hear that this channel continues in the winter, even while the ships are in their resting season. Thanks for the video.
I had the absolute pleasure to actually tour the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California. It was unbelievable. I imagine what it would be like out on the ocean during a voyage. They say it’s just like the titanic. It was absolutely fantastic and breathtaking walking around that ship. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RMS_Queen_Mary
@@vibewithmike Wow, how neat!!!! It’s on my “bucket list” to do that, too, and- in a sense-retrace my dad’s footsteps! Jane, I’m super glad that you enjoy watching these ships. All the best to you and yours in 2024.
Finally, light snow, here i thr northern suburbs of Mpls also. I heard yoy mention some folks leave christmas decor up till the 1st, well for me the first may extend well into January. As I get older, takes alot of time getting them up as well as taking them down. I soet of transition take all colors down except red for Valentines day. Not looki g forward to jan 15th but time flies and in notime well be at March 25 and a spring entrance to our shipworld 2024! Love Indiana Harbor and all the lakers of the great lakes. Will catch up on reading and alittle research into maritime subjects during the lull, also whatever you present to keep the magic going.Have a happy, warm and safe New Year to you and all shipwatchers around the globe.❤
Amazing view! Not much snow.. hope you are all safe in Duluth!
It’s been such an odd and warm winter. There’s still some snow coming down right now in Duluth but I don’t know how long it’ll last. At least I was able to get some snow with this ship live.
It was nice meeting you today
Hey friend, it was a pleasure meeting you as well. Know you love the JRB so I will be thinking about you when I see that coming in the next time. At some point, I believe that ship is going to break the decibel record. How fun was it to see the ship in the snow today? I hope to see you again down the road. All the best of my friend.
@@vibewithmike It was very cool seeing The Burns arrive in the winter because it can be interesting on how the captain navigates the sometimes predictable weather
@mikekatemaurer7349 those captains are true professionals
This is one reason I want to go up in Spring 2024 to watch the freighters come in. So awesome!💛
Go for it David. You will have a great time.!
I have no idea why but this video popped up on my RUclips site. I’m so glad it did. I watched this ship with total admiration. Thank you for sharing it. I’m in central Texas and I subscribed!
Welcome Glen to the channel. Hope you stop back many times!
Glen, it’s a pleasure meeting you. I hope you’re doing well. Thank you so much for checking out the ship! I think you’ll like these ships moving forward because I always show different big ships coming through and they’re so fun to watch. I’ll make you a trade, I’ll send you some of this walleye from Minnesota and you send me some of that awesome Texas brisket!😂😂😂😂👍👍 thanks again and I look forward to chatting with you soon
@chuckg6039 👍❄️

Absolutely, it was a big crowd and they got to see 1000 foot ship going through the snow. How cool is that?
That one was extraordinary, Mike. You’re going to have to include it on your greatest hits album. You were perfectly positioned for the pivot too. Nice to finally see snow.
I always try to get on the ledge to watch those pivots. You can really see the ship turn when it’s 1000 footer too!
Great video thanks Mike! Wish you a very Happy Blessed New Year! 🤗❤️

Mike, thanks for this, the year is about over and I want to wish you and all a far better year in 2024. I've learned a great deal about the Great Lakes ships here. Living in NC and in the south most of my life, but from the Lake Ontario area, my roots are up there with the ships! If we don't talk tomorrow, have a wonderful New Years celebration and see you next year!!! God Bless!!
Elizabeth, can you believe it finally have a snow video with a ship. It happened two days before 2024. I knew when I hit the live stream start button that it would be cool because there was finally snow coming down with a massive ship. All the best to you. And bless you and your family.

Mike I leave my christmas lights on till MAY, light all year long, always, light greetings from The Netherlands
If you left it up to me, we would have Christmas lights up 12 months a year. There’s nothing better than looking at those beautiful lights twinkling as you drive to work or wherever.
Mike I'm really late it's 11:04 pm NY time. But I wasn't going to miss the last 2023 raising of the bridge and a ship ⚓🚢 ring in the New Year Right 🎺 📯' s blowing. Thank you so much Mike God bless you all there, Fred.

It was coming in quick, but luckily I was able to capture everything going on in the snow with this thousand foot ship! Lauren! I finally was able to record a ship coming through the snow. Sam in 45* Towson! Thanks Mike👍👍👍👍
Sam! There was finally snow coming down with a ship brother
@@vibewithmike I am a “Denyist” (I made that term up!😂). I don’t “believe” in SNOW! As in total denial. I curl up in the fecal position and chant: “There is no snow, There is no snow” Over and over until the skies clear up and my beloved SUN reappears in all its glory. So, my friend, I don’t mean any I’ll will, but I don’t care if it NEVER snows wherever I am.
🥸🥱😣
@samuelcollins1331 Sam you’re the best!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
