this remake was definitely one that hurt me bc Mulan has always been one my favorite characters. Who hasnt felt like they arent enough and feel the need to prove their worth? She is such an interesting and inspiring character bc we see those vulnerabilities and can all relate to them on some level. it's really disappointing that disney feels the need to update these stories that sorta fit into this "girlboss" narrative but in turn strip well rounded female characters for bland women that are totally unrelated. Disney just ends up missing the point of their original stories and what made them so beloved
So it was a good desicion not to see the movie. I didn't watch it for the last point you added, but seeing all the things wrong with the plot and characters makes me not regret this desicion at all, for I love the original and would have surely been disappointed! Keep going with your essay videos, they are very well done!!
Definitely the right decision :/ I also waited to watch the movie until you didn't have to pay extra money in order to stream it on Disney+ because I didn't want to support Disney even more after all they've done. This whole movie was a dumpster fire from beginning to end... Anyway, thank you for your kind words 🥰🥰
