Me and my best friend were fortunate enough to do an episode of Mike's show "Drive" several years ago... he was the best. A truly humble skate rat, and we had a fantastic mini ramp session before we started filming, He's a skater's skater, and a pen pal to this day. Really hyped to see this clip with him and "Negrotaco" showing some NJ pride (I say that as someone from Louisiana who has a lot of pride in our own skate scene). Don't let anyone bullshit you... Mike is stellar on every level. A truly good person, and one of the few skateboarders that can do a demo by himself. Mike is gold.
WOW, Mike was so laid back in this. So many videos out there where he is just so fired up and aggressive. This is so interesting seeing him so low key.
@@RandomRUclips123 I know the videos of him being all fired up are decades old. It was nice to see him so chill now. Nice that he had relaxed and can enjoy life. Being fired up all the time is hard to maintain and no fun. I know...I used to be that way too.
met him once at the little Vista park in '99; it was sort of a crowded day, but everyone cleared the floor just to see the legend get some in person, almost like a micro-improv demo; and one of those very rare days in Cali where every last person seemed respectful...
mike VVVVV!!!!!!! what a legand ! i i still have his drive dvds somewhere he is such an inspiration! i watched those vids so many times when i was younger . 9 club soon I hope!
I just seem to love Mike more and more as we both get older. Nobody can do a step hop hauling ass like that guy. His public d part still one of my all time favorites, because I’ll never forget how it made me feel when I saw it.
It’s crazy. I met Mike at a drop in skatepark nj demo in 02 for the release of Vallely skateboards. His mentality was so much different. But then again he was just featured in cky3 beating up 4 jocks. As well as cky2k, 411vm, his wrestling matches. But seriously though. Super nice dude. Glad he reps the Dirty Jerz.
rly hope he gets on nine club jus cus the elephant in the room, at least in my mind, is that he has certainly done some srs energy work since the last time i heard him talk in some online interview years ago. completely unrecognizable person compared to just several years back, if i'm not mistaken. had to have done some real personal work and what a wonderful thing to witness. great job, mike!
One of my All time favorite skaters I meant him and got to skate with him at east coast terminal in Binghamton, New York .....great park wish it was still around
brilliant episode Chris but a simple introduction of the guy in the back seat would have saved him the eternal badge of being 'that weird guy in the back'
I skated in the late 80' 90's and I vividly remember seeing the "barnyard" board hanging in my local skate shop in Visalia Ca. (Home of Tom Knox, Paez bros, Karma etc.) Needless to say I bought it and loved it. Was one of the first to start doing the double tail design I believe. Cheers Mike!!
Had no idea he had his own company now, Street Plant looks neato. I was just randomly watching his Etnies video the other day for the first time and I was blown away at those crazy moves in his early Powell days....stuff I never got close to even thinking of learning!
He's always posting cool stuff for sale on his instagram and he signs it if you want and a handwritten note comes in the box. It seems like a great little family business.
This is awesome. I remember the zoo ad maybe 98 or 99 announcing the fence at the banks and I was bummed because I wanted to Ollie it. In hischool we went to nyc on a weekend in 2003 maybe, I remember doing ollies into the fence just to prove to myself that if it wasn't there I could make it. But Mikes,Ollie over the fence made no sense being there in person. Its just not possible!
"And now, the one and only, the legend...Mike (get's name wrong)!! I love this guy! Love this guy so much! Woo hoo!" Perfectly executed as always, X games :D
I've been calling him Mike Valley for 15 years now, even knowing there is that extra L 😅. But watching Mike V made it feel okay for me to be bonelessing down sets and onto rails, so thank you for that 👏❤
i met him when i was 13 in 00' at a stake demo he did at a local shop on a 5 foot mini ramp.. He was one of the most positive people Ive met and was so patient with us 13 year old idiots asking him to do stupid tricks.. he told us to stop paying tony hawk lol
he was my favorite skater for a long time after speed freaks and I owned more of his boards than any other pro, but glad he took he took some humility pills because I thought he became a jackass for some time and regretted owning so many.
Yea he was a G and still is I’m sure. But all skaters back in the day were “badass” (hate that saying). Nobody would want to scrap a group of skaters.. now skaters are mad puss
How can you not love Mike V. I like to see how humble he has become. A true legend. It would be amazing just to cruise the streets with the guy.
I agree I saw some of his earlier fight videos, good to see he's humbled a lot would never guess it's the same guy
GrowingDownUnder he was provoked.
CAN Control heavily
Mike is the reason i do 360 bonus
Mike V. is one of the reasons why I started skateboarding in the first place.
Great video. Thank you!
whenever i need to get pumped up i pull up the video of Mike fighting 4 other dudes by himself. very inspiring. thank you Mike
Mike for me has the purest form of skating, you can tell he’s just having fun and doing what feels natural and innovative.

He’s seems more chill now. What a G. Still wouldn’t want to fight him....
seriously never forget
Only real ones remember the video
He's always been one of my favourites, and it seems like he's in a really good spot atm. Nice.
WOW, Mike was so laid back in this. So many videos out there where he is just so fired up and aggressive. This is so interesting seeing him so low key.
Age has mellowed him - I like him better this way.
Hes actually been laid back for a while now, there is a doc tht is a few yrs old now n he is exactly the same.

He had his own show called drive where he was just like this. Used to love that show
He's so well spoken ! In a Time where we Lost some legends we should cherish those who still here like Mike V . God bless

I bet he’s closer to 49 than 48
Mike is definitely more humble now than what he was in the past. I'm glad he's chill now.
7th Street School was my baby sitter when I was 12-14 I’m 43 now. The barn yard was my favorite board back then...
Some well said things in here about skateboarding. Mike V is the man.
Thanks Mike. .. for everything!

One of my most favorite skaters.
Mike V such a amazing dude! And I had one of the barn yard board in 90s
Mike V was the first pro skater I ever met in CT in 1999 at a demo. I also saw him play a hockey game for the Danbury Whalers.
this is why we love you, mike!
We need hundreds of these

Digging all the archive footage.
T-Funk paid tribute to Mike V's indy foot plant(fast plant) in his DC 'Promo' part. Pretty sick.
Ben Rayburn in 30 years, radness.

Mike V the coolest ever. I NEED the lightning bolt deck again, bring it back!!! LOL
Mike v !!!! Legend 🤘🤘
10:50 Mike V still has the street in his blood its like every move this man does look so badass.
Yeah as someone about his age.... climbing that high of a fence is doable but riskier than skating.
So good.
OG!
Best original skater ever
The real street part was so clean
Is the guy in the back seat dead?
Sound guy maybe?
I think its a dummy to use the carpool lane
I think it was in another episode. It's a dummy he'll put in the passenger seat to use the carpool lane.
It's Medium Black Bernie.
