YESSS WHILE REWATCHING I PICKED UP ON THAT TOO. Very telling, I feel like the writing in GG hinted at Dan/Blair being soulmates since pretty early on. So it just didn't make sense at all when they backtracked on it last season.

Dan was always someone they looked at as someone who wasn't one of them and used the friend label when they needed him for something or to help them. They were terrible friends to him and never cared about him the way he did about them for the longest time. Only one I'd probably consider his friend was Nate tbh but he'd always choose the others over Dan if it came down to it. Blair is a toss up because for the longest time it was one sided and then Blair started to realize that and return the favour but it wasn't for long before this ended. Everything Dan wrote about wasn't bad imo, it was something they needed to hear from someone or else who knows, maybe they never would've fully grown up and been stuck in their childish ways. Sometimes you need to hear the brutal truth to really wake the fuck up and I think it worked out for everyone when he spoke up and finally thought about himself for once and his career.
Dan’s book is like the whole series. At first we all thought the star of the show was Serena but it was always Blair. The same thing happened with Dans love life. We thought Serena was Dan’s epic love but it was actually Blair. He brings out the best in her and ever since he came along she didn’t have to live in Serena’s shadow. Dan helped her develop and supported her even as a run away bride.
What an interesting end it would’ve been if Blair Waldorf, elitist princess of the Upper East Side, ended up with middle class Brooklynite Dan Humphrey. Ugh, I wish.

there’s three things that really solidified my love for them. 1. despite her insistence that she hates him/could never want help from him, blair repeatedly turns to dan for advice or just to talk throughout the series. 2. the way dan was there for blair after the accident, helping her with no judgment, supporting her in every way he could. (also the fact that she felt safe enough to confide in him speaks volumes about how much she trusts him). 3. the way blair spoke about chuck “whenever chuck’s around i just feel like a weak little girl” vs how she spoke about dan “dan is my best friend and when we’re together it’s great. i feel strong and safe.” they had one of the most well executed enemies to friends to lovers developments before they completed destroyed it.
I know right, he did a lot of things for her. He wrote Louis wedding vows that's so beautiful. He kept her pregnancy a secret, bought her a cheap tiara, made her the star of his book. The list goes on
This was by far, the best couple in the series, they started to know each other little by little, stoped judging each other at the same time, became sincerly friends, started to feel attracted, then he fell, and it took some time to her to accept that she fell as well, but I think they shared much more in common than the other couples.

It's always been obvious to me that Dan doesn't feel as strongly as Serena in the end. Even at their WEDDING. I've seen this show dozens of times and part of me STILL expects Dan to be stringing Serena along for his book when they get back together for the last time. I loved their relationship in season 1+2, he believed in her and gave her a second chance. But as he grew up, she didn't and it became very obvious that she wasn't going to. Serena tells Dan, "in high school, you were the only person who saw me for who I really was", but the reality is that he saw her for who she COULD be (and who he always hoped she was) and didn't see her for who she really was until later. He gave her a chance and she blew it, again and again. Serena was my favorite the first few seasons, but they ruined her by turning Dan into her only purpose.

Prisc Moi I just recently binge watched Gossip Girl all the way up to season 5. I won't even bother watching season 6 based on the comments I've read about it. In my mind, Gossip Girl ended with Dan and Blair together.
I always liked the idea of a Chuck Bass, some rich dude who could give me everything I want. But Dan was perfect for Blair because he was supportive and healthy and loving. He listened and they could be intellectual with one another. This should have happened. This would be what I want.

When i first watched gossip girl i was so mad that blair and dan dated but now as i mature more and more i felt like dan and blair were perfect together. It just doesn't make any sense thematically speaking in regards to how Gossip Girl is always commenting on class differences, wouldn't it have made more sense for Dan, a middle class writer hating on the rich while secretly wishing to be one to end up with Blair, someone who never would have dared to be with someone "beneath her" it shows both of their character developments. And the way Dan started to realize that Serena, his childish blonde obsession thinking she was different from the rest of the elite, only to find out she isn't while with Blair he found out she works just as hard as he does to earn her place amongst the elite. It makes more sense narratively if Dan ended up with Blair to prove that Dan's beliefs about the UES were right and wrong at the same time. Plus, all Blair wanted was to be happy with someone who understands ALL of her, Louis only saw the good, Chuck the bad, and Dan BOTH. Ugh, season 6 is non-existent in my mind.
There's no way Blair would not have given props to Dan for being Gossip Girl the whole time and she probably would have fallen more in love with him since game recognizes game. Plus she probably would have become his manager and the power couple of NYC.

I think that Dan was always in love with Blair, even when he was obsess with Serena. When Blair’s mother picks Serena to be her model and Blair ran away from Serena, who follow her? Dan. I think that he was her true love but like they say: when you are in a toxic relationship it’s easy. And you start to feel comfortable there, being hurt. Because it’s what you are used to do, be hurt, and because you know how it feels you prefer that than something that it’s new. She is used to suffering from chuck, it's easy because she's known. Dan shows him true, healthy love, and I think Blair ended up with Chuck because he was afraid of feeling something very strong for Dan and that he hurt her like Chuck did, then it was on the simple side and he went to the familiar, Chuck. Just for being afraid of the new, the healthy, the true.
I just finished binge watching this show and the writers did them so dirty, I'm upset they weren't endgame, and this edit does them so much justice, I love the fact that you included the voiceovers over the people who supported Dan and Blair's happiness such as Rufus and Vanya, the parallels in the elevator, "Dan loves me for me", the tiara and the met steps, the kisses, the music choice. I keep coming back to this video and keep viewing how amazing it was well put together, thank you for this.
They did them super dirty, especially Dan. Made him look bad in an uncharacteristic way just so the break up can be justified. I love their slow burn. It was always there and slowly evolved if you put all their scenes together.

Dan and Blair should have ended up together. I don’t care what anyone says. They where perfect for each other, they went from enemy’s to lovers. She’s the rich pretty upper east side princess and he’s just an average guy from Brooklyn trying to fit in. Chuck treated Blair horribly, and as you can see when you watch the show, they are a toxic relationship... haven’t y’all realized that chuck and Blair date and then brake up because something bad happened in the relationship and then they get back together and then break up again... it was an endless cycle that everyone got bored of... if they really loved each other they would be with each other ... and not to mention all the horrible thing chuck did to Blair like selling her for a hotel, cheating on her MULTIPLE times, and leaving her and moving to another country. Chuck made Blair have hate in her... instead of doing good thing in the relationship they would do things like scheme and hurt other people... but when dan was with Blair, it changed her. Her true self came out... none of us knew she loved to read and was a movie nerd and loved going to museums... she felt like she could express herself when she was with dan. Dan made her a better person...and she made dan better too... they where the epic couple ... until the writers ruined that amazing relationship, I still cry to this day because I wanted them to be together.

I always liked the idea of a Chuck Bass, some rich dude who could give me everything I want. But Dan was perfect for Blair because he was supportive and healthy and loving. He listened and they could be intellectual with one another. This should have happened. This would be what I want.

I loved Blair and chuck but I was in love with dan and Blair. They were perfect. Chuck and her were toxic in more ways than none. Dan was there for her even when she was horrible to him, he understood her, accepted her and loved her whole. He brought her back to who she used to be when chuck made her lose it. He made her happy and complete.
The writers were stupid in making her go back to a guy who wanted a hotel, A HOTEL over her. Dair should’ve been endgame.

i don't understand why people prefer chair to dair i mean dair is the exemple of an healthy relationship and a lasting one but because of fan service the writer destroyed it. You can really see they wanted dair as endgame that's why their ending was so rushed and so unrealistic cause the writers knew the tween and their hormones only wanted chair and the show was ending, 6th season is usless they should have ended at 5 with a better end.

I’ll admit-I’ve always loved Chuck more than Dan. However, Dan & Blair’s relationship stole the show for me. They are incredible together & deserved so much more than the writers gave them. Their relationship made sense; it grew overtime & progressed into something HEALTHY. They were meant to be and should’ve ended up together. Nothing will change my mind on that.

When i first watched gossip girl i was so mad that blair and dan dated but now as i mature more and more i felt like dan and blair were perfect together. He saw good in her other than her schemings what most people see in her but at the end she was much more than that and dan appreciated that part of her. It just doesn't make any sense thematically speaking in regards to how Gossip Girl is always commenting on class differences, wouldn't it have made more sense for Dan, a middle class writer hating on the rich while secretly wishing to be one to end up with Blair, someone who never would have dared to be with someone "beneath her" it shows both of their character developments. And the way Dan started to realize that Serena, his childish blonde obsession thinking she was different from the rest of the elite, only to find out she isn't while with Blair he found out she works just as hard as he does to earn her place amongst the elite. It makes more sense narratively if Dan ended up with Blair to prove that Dan's beliefs about the UES were right and wrong at the same time. Plus, all Blair wanted was to be happy with someone who understands ALL of her, Louis only saw the good, Chuck the bad, and Dan BOTH. Ugh, season 6 is non-existent in my mind.
There's no way Blair would not have given props to Dan for being Gossip Girl the whole time and she probably would have fallen more in love with him since game recognizes game. Plus she probably would have become his manager and the power couple of NYC.

I think that Dan was always in love with Blair, even when he was obsess with Serena. When Blair’s mother picks Serena to be her model and Blair ran away from Serena, who follow her? Dan.
I think that he was her true love but like they say: when you are in a toxic relationship it’s easy. And you start to feel comfortable there, being hurt. Because it’s what you are used to do, be hurt, and because you know how it feels you prefer that than something that it’s new.
She is used to suffering from chuck, it's easy because she's known. Dan shows him true, healthy love, and I think Blair ended up with Chuck because he was afraid of feeling something very strong for Dan and that he hurt her like Chuck did, then it was on the simple side and he went to the familiar, Chuck. Just for being afraid of the new, the healthy, the true.

I just finished binge watching this show and the writers did them so dirty, I'm upset they weren't endgame, and this edit does them so much justice, I love the fact that you included the voiceovers over the people who supported Dan and Blair's happiness such as Rufus and Vanya, the parallels in the elevator, "Dan loves me for me", the tiara and the met steps, the kisses, the music choice. I keep coming back to this video and keep viewing how amazing it was well put together, thank you for this.
They did them super dirty, especially Dan. Made him look bad in an uncharacteristic way just so the break up can be justified. I love their slow burn. It was always there and slowly evolved if you put all their scenes together.

Dan and Blair should have ended up together. I don’t care what anyone says. They where perfect for each other, they went from enemy’s to lovers. She’s the rich pretty upper east side princess and he’s just an average guy from Brooklyn trying to fit in. Chuck treated Blair horribly, and as you can see when you watch the show, they are a toxic relationship... haven’t y’all realized that chuck and Blair date and then brake up because something bad happened in the relationship and then they get back together and then break up again... it was an endless cycle that everyone got bored of... if they really loved each other they would be with each other ... and not to mention all the horrible thing chuck did to Blair like selling her for a hotel, cheating on her MULTIPLE times, and leaving her and moving to another country. Chuck made Blair have hate in her... instead of doing good thing in the relationship they would do things like scheme and hurt other people... but when dan was with Blair, it changed her. Her true self came out... none of us knew she loved to read and was a movie nerd and loved going to museums... she felt like she could express herself when she was with dan. Dan made her a better person...and she made dan better too... they where the epic couple ... until the writers ruined that amazing relationship, I still cry to this day because I wanted them to be together.

I know that many people thought that the writers made a mistake but honestly they were my favorite couple and after seeing the fact that she ended with chuck it made me sad, because they were the most healthy couple in the show and they brought the best of each other. Dan gave Blair the opportunity to be best of herself without the need to prove herself who she was. Dan finally was able to feel comfortable and didn't need to think about what move to take because when he dated Serena and Vanessa there was always something that got in the way from having a stable relationship. Serena doesn't deserve dan or nate in my opinion.
