I'm so glad these performances are on RUclips. Neil Diamond is good for my recovery from alcoholism. I thought he was good when i listened to him in my youth. Now at 73 i find him GREAT and SOULFUL Beautiful Noise, Sweet Caroline, Brother Love, I am Said I, Forever in BluevJeans. These songs are magnificent!
Yet again Neil Diamond shows us why he is so loved, cherished and admired !! Thank you for your music and sharing it with us at all your wonderful performances, we love you ❤❤❤❤❤
GREAT SINGER , LOVELY SONGS! WHAT CAN I ASK FROM GOD , TAKE CARE OF HIM FOREVER, ALWAYS IN GOOD HEALTH, HEALTHY & LOVING PERSON TO EVERYONE THRU HIS HIS LOVING SONGS!!! MY PRAYER TO GOD TO TAKE CARE OF YOU & YOUR FAMILY. WISH FOR GOOD SONGS, GOOD HEALTH TO SING FOR US!! LOVE YOU MR. NEIL DIAMOND!!!
These are the best years of our lives. I love Tracy Chapman. I love hearing Neil DIAMOND doing one of her songs. He really puts his heart into it. God bless him and the fans who frequented his concerts.
Neil Diamond is someone i always come to, especially when i feel disappointed with something going on in my life which is negative and Neil's songs are such a great way to recover from negative obssessing about people, places and things i can't do anything about. Whew, what a relief !!!
Hes a celebrity, so must wear whats appropriate for his status. To be able to write songs and sing them or make other musicians sing them is an unbelievable talent. I take a bow. More power to you Neil. Thank you for your music.
My wife and I have seen Neil many times, and he never disappoints in any way. I hope he can keep performing and making albums till 80. Elvis was good, but in my book he will never touch Neil Diamond Plus, we can never forget that fantastic back-up band. I believe they are the best of all time. God bless Neil, the band, and all the fans..
Gary Smith There is only a handful of the 1989 band on the current tour. Reinie and Linda Press, Alan Lindgren, Doug Rhone and Hadley Hockensmith are all retired. Vince Charles passed away a few years ago. On the plus side, King Errison, Tom Hensley and Ron Tutt are still there and vintage Diamond guitarist Richard Bennett has rejoined the line-up.
I have been a fan of Neil since 1966 and have had the pleasure of 39 of his concerts- including the 40th Hot August Night in 2012 & my last one in San Diego in 2017 and I’m from Pennsylvania! I miss him very much! This Toronto one in 1989 is helping me remember the Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and D.C. ones I saw that year! Thank you for putting it out😍
Neil Diamond. Pours his heart and soul into every performance. I saw him just a couple of years later (1991) in Hampton, Virginia, in a different setting being in " The Round" revolving with band and pit orchestra ensemble. One thing is very prevalent in this show is how many times he makes his way around to sing to those audience members behind the stage. Very Classy. An interesting choice of his body of work. One I always loved is "If you know what I mean" as all the hits were done so well. Only one we didn't hear that I saw was "Play Me". But so many others that could have gone on for another hour. Diamond shows that he is the consummate entertainer. The entire package. Amazing band, sound production, lighting, body of work and most especially...he holds the audience in his hand from the moment he walks on stage. I thoroughly enjoyed my concert on my birthday treating my family. A night we will never forget.
Quess he's driven BT what some powerful source God perhaps as he is a devout Christian. Who knows. His time is now for privacy with his family. And a well deserved rest He needs to recuperate otherwise he'll never * Pass this way again* we will c him in concerts again. I know that believe me
Sadly, I only got to see one of his concerts back in the 1980's (Tampa, Fl), but I have NEVER been to a better concert. He was the best entertainer/performer I have EVER seen in concert, and he gave it his all - from start to finish. A true professional.... Love Neil Diamond.
I have been to nine of Neil's concerts in.St. Louis but decided not to go to hos 50 year celebration concert then regretted terribly. Just after that he was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease.
Nil para mi un artista conpleto su canto sus musico exsescionales su canto y musicos lo tengo muy dentro de mi tengo historia con su sus canciones muy bonita yo vailando sobre patines y dominando el patin es mi istoria incondicional con nildayamos un abraso
I started going to Neil's concerts in 1972 at the Minneapolis state fair . This man really puts on a Super concert . He sometimes sings for two and a half hours .
In listening to Neil I am curious to know in addition to the songs if he writes the music for that orchestra as well. The music is just fantastic .❣️Being a widow sometimes I listen to him half a day recalling beautiful memories of my life with him❣️👍🫶🏻
Think positive man. Neil is taking a subactical only. No Parkinson just excuse to use for taking time out for his family to rest and recuperate as I said b4.
My o my what a great concert and Neil s singing is so good he is really dancing and having fun that's what makes a fantastic show when the entertainer can get involved with his audience only Neil can achieve that great singer ever, love u Neil forever.
We really do need a "a new dream." Headed for The Future is an extraordinary song. Neil Diamond was a man of vision. That song plus America reveal a good part of his vision.
Q bonito concierto! Saludos. 💘❤❤❤
I agree that's a terrible shirt lol but Neil was a showman back in the day. He often wore shirts that were glittered or a bit eye catching. Not my style, but my love for his music far exceeds my opinion of his shirts.
Mmmm chuckling over ur comment. Neil chooses his shirts as the mood is. Mmmm not keen on shirt he has on in this concert but on a whole like his shirts in Australia when I saw him in the mid 1990s ( can't remember year) remember he wore a black shirt with green bits I think Had his son Jesse playing in band that night seem to remember. Only have seen him once. In Melbourne
I saw this show at the NEC, Birmingham, West Midlands as part of the European leg of the tour, 11 November 1989. I promise you the sound quality was first class. My ears were ringing for hours afterwards! I remember at the time being a little disappointed that Richard Bennett was no longer in the band. Hadley Hockensmith, however, made a very worthy successor.
He puts on a great show. No backups at all. Hes the show. Ive seen him 6 times in concert. All in Texas. Every show sold out those were in the 70s and 80s. I saw him in San Antonio about 1995 i think. Im 64 now.
Hey William, I took my then 7 year old daughter to see Neil Diamond at the old Salt Palace in SLC. She spent the whole concert up on daddies shoulders bouncing to Neils music. This is the same concert, different venue of course. Thank you so much for sharing this concert. It brings back so many memories!
Neil in his prime! notice that there are NO lip syncs or fakery? he is the real deal. thank you for posting this. I used to sneak my sony recorder in and record the audio of his concerts. they weren't nearly this good. wonderful show.
Wow grandioso Neil, esa entrada y energía, y la voz, no no no, este hombre definitivo dotado por Dios en todos los aspectos, y esta melodia de entrada, lo demuestra Neil por siempre en mi corazón ❤❤❤
This was my Christmas present too!! I saw him in Buffalo, NY the next night. I was 10 years old! I finally saw him again last year when he was back in Buffalo.
Yes, I too saw Neil Diamond at the Buffalo Memorial Auditorium on February 11, 1989. My seat was in the upper corner behind stage right. When seeing him again on March 31, 2015, I had a ticket in the upper section at the other end from the stage; before, my seat was upgraded to the section across from stage right. Thanks Neil Diamond for exchanging that poor seat in 1989 for the excellent one in 2015. Very rewarding.
My friend and I were at this concert!. Watch for the Panda shirt in the audience. We were in the 6th row! In other words we were in Diamond Heaven! Can never get enough of Neil. EVER!
What does Neil Diamond want to tell us with this shirt ;-) The show is stunningly good. Like all his concerts. And therefore he is also forgiven for this slip :-)
WOW!! This is brilliant!! It's hard to find current concerts filmed this good!! Thanks a lot!! My mother saw him in this tour and I saw him in 2015 and will again this year!!

Ron Tutt, bless him, also sang background vocals on this tour and several others. This was Hadley Hockensmith's first full tour with ND after Richard Bennett had moved on.
When I saw the laser image I thought it was Epcot's nighttime show and that is a terrible look for Neil Diamond. I always loved his 80's-90's versions of his songs
1) That shirt is epic. 2) Is it just me or does he end every song line with 'Yes'. 3) To everyone knocking the A/V quality; did you look at the year this was recorded in? For 1989, this is amazing quality. Have you forgotten that most camcorders in 1989 had to be carried on your shoulder?

I was this show. I was 11, and my parents took me and my brother. It was my first concert. Great memories of a simpler time.

ALWAYS JUST SO BEAUTIFUL
Just scrolled the setlist, how in the world is Sweet Caroline not in this set?
1) That shirt is epic. 2) Is it just me or does he end every song line with 'Yes'. 3) To everyone knocking the A/V quality; did you look at the year this was recorded in? For 1989, this is amazing quality. Have you forgotten that most camcorders in 1989 had to be carried on your shoulder?
1) I read somewhere that he wears sparkly ridiculous shirts so everyone can see him! 2) Yes! 3) Yes!
DCLT05 that shirt is hideous. Love the man but the shirt has to go
Neil sound wonderful and has great energy! Puts on a wonderful show! Agree about the shirt though…
I hope the shirt was a one time throw away.
His songs keep on🤩
