Anteaters aren't monotremes. There are echidnas that eat ants, but anteaters themselves are placental mammals.

@SolisFactor Upon investigation of your comment, I have realized that the Echidna is sometimes referred to as the "spiny anteater". I believed this to be a separate species. Thank for letting me know!
