This is actually what happens in normal Indian Hindu weddings.
Though the warmalla is done in the lehenga, the other wedding rituals need to be performed in a saree, which generally is gifted by the boys side.

Please mention "most of the Indian Hindu wedding's_ or in "many Indian Hindu weddings" because in Bengali wedding bride wears the saree brought from her parents side and groom changes to clothes gifted by the bride's family. On our reception day we wear the saree or these days people have started wearing lehenga's also gifted by the groom's side.
