A busy afternoon tide at Sharpness with a coaster, a ferry and a barge all out on the tide. The barge struggles against the howling wind and incoming tide.

I stayed on Lundy I remember the crossing in that Oldenburg thing , it thought it was a submarine, I thought it was going to roll over.

The English Channel is the more direct and shorter route.
