Wolf is the song that split the fandom's opinion, it's either u love it or hate it 😅 when I first listened to Wolf, I don't really like it but until I watched this Wolf live remix version, it totally changed, I fall so hard for it that I watched this performance over and over again, never get tired of EXO amazing incredible live performance 👍🏼 love your reaction and thanks so much 💕

Wolf is the song that gave them the first win. Also when you read the lyrics you have to consider it as part of the concept like a werewolf that fell in love with a human girl having a conversation with his pack that try to convince him to just "eat her" so he won't be weak. If you do that you won't find it as weird as many do. 😅

EXO debuted in 2012 with their song "Mama" and "Wolf" was their first comeback in 2013. Every move of the " Monster" choreography has been designed to be an extension of their story and it uses elements of their dance to show several of the members using their powers. The X they make to represent EXO is only the beginning of the story in their choreography. (It's the same choreography you saw in the MV) For example, D.O. has the power of super strength, so during his part in "Monster" we see that he waves his hands and the other members are pushed away from him or pulled toward him. When you see Suho in the middle of the group and they have a hold of his arms, he rotates his body around like swirling water because Suho has the power to control water. Xiumin has the power to control snow/ice/frost, so during one part of the choreography we see that each of the members pause as if frozen as he moves in front of them. We see Kai slide backward and forward into the center of the group while waving his arms to represent him teleporting. And when Chanyeol jumps over Lay, Sehun and Xiumin, this could be him using his phoenix fire wings to fly, or it could be showing him leaping over flames because he has the power to control fire. Sehun superpower is the ability to control wind, so during his parts, we see the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm. And the part where they are sitting on the ground is supposed to represent a sundial -- EXO gets their power from the eclipse and their powers are affected by planetary and solar phenomenon, so the sundial is meant to represent the passing of time and their connection to the sun. And at the end of "Monster, "when they sing "creepin', creepin', creeping," the dance move they are doing is called The Creep, from the iconic 1990s American girl group TLC, which was created for TLC's song "Creep." So the choreographer added this dance move as a nod to a famous dance move from the '90s. The moving picture you see the EXO members create during "Wolf" is a tree and it's supposed to represent the Tree of Life, which is a visual connection between the storyline in "Mama" and the story in "Wolf". In their "Wolf" MV they create two separate trees (or one tree that is split in two) because the MV is when they still have 12 members. EXO-K (Korean) was one half of the tree and EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) was the other half. However, as you saw in the concert performance, they don't split up into two separate trees anymore because now there are only 9 members. After the 3 Chinese members left, they now do everything together, so there is only one tree. This concert was in 2016 and Kris, Luhan and Tao left in 2014/2015. The concert version of "Wolf" is the remix version, so only the beginning and end of this performance is what you will see in their "Wolf" MV -- the middle part where it slows down is new, but the hype part at the beginning and end is exactly how the original song sounds. Often, the performance and choreography for their songs in concert is different than the original because they put a different twist on it every time they perform it. In "Wolf" the members are supposed to be a wolf pack. So, the choreography and the song is about them acting like wolves. The "Wolf" choreography was created to use movements that made them seem like wolves, and the moves, such as them showing their claws and bristling their backs and shaking are all things that wolves do as they compete for power and attention, etc. The wolf comes out of the forest (as he scratches the ground behind the Tree of Life) and he is stalking his prey. Their prey is the girl that, in the song, they are talking about being so obsessed with and in love with that they can't help but act like a wolf and capture her so that no one else can have her, etc. In EXO's songs and MVs it is often thought that the girl that EXO sings about is a manifestation of the heart of the Tree of Life. So, that is why EXO becomes so enamored by her and so possessive and protective of her, etc. Protecting the heart of the Tree of Life -- or "the girl" -- is what EXO has been sent to Earth to do. How I interpret the part where Kai Xs out the tree, is that EXO are searching for the Tree of Life and Kai has eliminated that tree from their search. It's not the tree they want, so they get rid of it. If you remember, in the intro to their "Mama" MVs the narrator talks about how the Tree of Life has been split in two and each half has been hidden away. It's EXO's job to find the two halves of the Tree of Life and reunite them to restore peace in the world. So, in their live performance, that is what they are doing. They are searching for the real Tree of Life. The shadows that they dance with also could have something to do with their X-EXO clones, which was later introduced in their "Obsession" MV in 2019. If their shadows are X-EXO, this could explain why we see them fighting with, and eventually eliminating, their other selves. (And now it could also be connected to the silhouettes we see behind the lighted white wall in EXO's "Tempo" MV and SHINee's new "Hard" MV storyline.) Therefore, in this performance this could be a foreshadowing of events in their storyline that only begins to make sense as the story evolves and SM reveals more details in the future, etc. Which is why we say, if you want to really follow EXO's storyline, you have to pay attention to everything EXO does and you have to try and remember everything you have ever seen and heard from them. The story may not make sense at the moment, but it could be important in the future to help explain something else that is happening in EXO's storyline or even part of the larger SM Culture Universe storyline that involves all of SM Entertainment's groups and artists. And, at the end, I don't necessarily think Kai is breathing heavily because he is tired. I actually think he is still in character. He has that brooding expression on his face and he is breathing heavily because he is acting like a wolf. Although I am sure the members are tired after those performances, you would be surprised how well they are able to recover. In reality, if you saw them interacting with the audience right after that performance you would probably be surprised at how they don't look or sound out of breath or tired. They have trained their whole career by doing cardio exercises while singing at the same time, in order to build endurance and stamina, so they are able to sing live while dancing this intently and not use up their energy. In their dance practices we often see them wearing a lot of layers because it helps build endurance and it conditions their bodies to be able to dance on stage with their stage outfits and not be affected. Why it looks so effortless on stage and like they hardly even exert themselves sometimes, is because their body has become used to being dressed in layers while working hard and wearing heavy boots, etc. It's kind of like if you spend a lot of time in a sauna, after a while your body gets used to the heat and you can endure more heat for longer. Just imagine, that was only one set from a more than 3-hour concert, where they performed more than 30 songs. So, if you think that performance was amazing, keep in mind, after this they only took about a 5-minute break to get ready for the next set of songs and change outfits, etc. You have only scratched the surface of what an EXO concert is like, just wait until you check out more performances from their concerts. What Baekhyun screams in the middle of "Wolf " is "Tokyo Dome," which is where this EXO PLANET #3 - The EXO'rDIUM(dot) in Japan world tour concert is being held.

They performed “Wolf” in 2013 at the opening of Universiade (international sport event) in my city of Kazan, we were hosting it. The only time they I’ve been to my country to represent Korea.. and I didn’t know about it. I still regret it to this day. 😢

That tree they form is so beautiful! It's the Tree of Life from EXO's lore. I must say that whoever came up with EXO's lore was/were a genius! Hope to see more of it in their future albums as well as it adds so many complex layers to their art, taking it beyond just musical performances.
Wolf is one of the songs that the fandom disagreed with because it was a somewhat strange idea, but this show made everyone love it. This show is just one of many of EXO's wonderful shows. I miss their unparalleled shows and performances.

I was waiting for this one! this last part of the Wolf remix (it is not present in the original version) - is the peak of kpop for me personally: main vocals sing the adlibs and main line of the song and the rest of the group sings the chorus and dances. this is the best live performance I have ever seen from anyone. fun fact: although the song is called wolf, they actually sing the German "ulf" because it is easier for Koreans to pronounce. there is also a demo version of the song, which was leaked before the official song release. it is... interesting XD but I kind of like it. the song "wolf" itself has questionable lyrics, but I still love the song.
Wolf will definitely sound different in the studio version. They totally reworked it for this stage (and most of us much prefer the stage version) The MV for Wolf is a bit cringey and it doesn't have lyric subtitles (old SM vids almost never do) so you'll have to look up the lyrics. Translations vary in accuracy but some of the lyrics sound very odd or cringey in English. Wolf came out before Growl and both are kinda in the same universe. Growl was the one that went insanely popular but they began with the concept-heavy Wolf first. It (and the many storyline stages that went with it) was heavily influenced by the vampire/werewolf craze at the time, esp Twilight series which directly influenced some of the camera shots they used.

I was able to attend exordium when they came to Mexico in 2017. Best freaking day EVER!!! That intro is so epic that I got goosebumps. One of the things that I remember the most is when Wolf was playing and we were so loud shouting AUUUU, and then Chanyeol asked us to scream again 😂 also they had some technical difficuties and the audio was out when they were performing TRANSFORMER, it was amazing because at the beginnig us fans were singing without the music and they still dance. That EXO concert will remain as one of the best days of my life. I end up without my voice for like a week, my feet were hurting so bad but I was incredibly happy. Oh and I had VIP tickets so I was very close to them, I didn't even want to blink 😂😂 Thank you so much for your reaction!! Wolf is that song that's better as a live version. Exo was heavily ridiculed in SoKor because of this song. It's so bad that they treated bad promotion as promotion (yk) and with that it got exo their first win since they debuted. Everyone had a love-hate relationship with it that even exo themselves tried to sabotage the song so it wouldn't come out but it still did, probably why they tried to redeem it in its live version. And to add context, it actually is a dark song. It's about a werewolf falling in love with a human and was fighting itself if he should kill her or set her free when she found out his secret. They even made a little drama series of it that was shown in a year-end award show.
One of my live 😌 I still cant believe how their vocals can be this good while dancing and the choreo itself looks very difficult 🥲 but their vocals sounds exactly like the studio version ( i think everyone will agree with me ) 🙌 The whole live was perfection. When you said very nice singing i was like wait for wolf. I had literally held my head when i saw this first time. In 2023 i found this hell of talented group. And thisss performance is one of the reasons i became their hardcore fan❤plz react to exo performance for call ke baby +chill+touch it. It is theatrical type performance. They are stage beasts. So versatile and graceful whatever genre they do they kill it. The beat thing about them is the song that is not good in mvs or original will be the best in their lives. It shows how good they are live.

EXO debuted in 2012 with 12 members. 8 Koreans and 4 Chinese. The group's idea was to promote their music both within Korea and within China, so the group was "divided" into two: EXO-K (with 6 Korean members) who promoted the group within Korea, singing the group's songs in Korean and EXO-M (with 2 Korean members and 4 Chinese members) who promoted the group within China, singing the group's songs in Mandarin. The group performed with all 12 members together, but most of the time EXO-K was in Korea while EXO-M was in China, participating in the group's interviews, programs and promotions. When EXO-M returned to Korea, EXO all got together again. The group also released their albums and MVs in 2 versions (Korean and Chinese). EXO-K and EXO-M released MVs of the same songs but in different languages, in the MVs of both versions it was possible to see all 12 members, but the Korean version MVs highlighted the EXO-K members, while the Chinese version MVs highlighted the members of EXO-M, in addition, the verses of the songs were sung by different members in each of the versions/MVs. The initial concept of the group is that the members of EXO were aliens who came from the Exoplanet to Earth and each member had a super power. In 2014, two Chinese members (Kris and Luhan) left the group due to health issues, logistical difficulties due to the many trips between China and Korea and issues with the company. In 2015, another Chinese member (Tao) also left the group due to health issues. EXO has since stopped being divided into EXO-K and EXO-M and has become just EXO, with now 9 members (8 Koreans and 1 remaining Chinese). EXO still promotes their songs in Korean and Chinese, and releases their albums and music videos in these two versions, in addition to also releasing some songs and albums in Japanese. Lay, the only Chinese member of EXO, still remains in the group (as of 2024), but now resides in China and his last active participation in the group was in 2021 on the album Don't Fight The Feeling. For political reasons between Korea and China, Lay is unable to promote with the rest of the group, even though he wants to and always mentions the members in interviews (Lay is actively linked to Chinese politics so his situation is delicate). The 8 Korean members remain active in the group, but due to military service enlistment, since 2019 the 8 members have been unable to promote together at the same time in the group. In Korea, military service is mandatory for men from the age of 20 and lasts about 2 years, idols must take a hiatus from their activities during this period, but idols can postpone their enlistment until their 30s. All members' military service will officially end in 2025, and then EXO will be able to reunite again. EXO debuted in 2012 with their song "Mama" and "Wolf" was their first comeback in 2013.
Every move of the " Monster" choreography has been designed to be an extension of their story and it uses elements of their dance to show several of the members using their powers. The X they make to represent EXO is only the beginning of the story in their choreography. (It's the same choreography you saw in the MV)
For example, D.O. has the power of super strength, so during his part in "Monster" we see that he waves his hands and the other members are pushed away from him or pulled toward him. When you see Suho in the middle of the group and they have a hold of his arms, he rotates his body around like swirling water because Suho has the power to control water. Xiumin has the power to control snow/ice/frost, so during one part of the choreography we see that each of the members pause as if frozen as he moves in front of them. We see Kai slide backward and forward into the center of the group while waving his arms to represent him teleporting. And when Chanyeol jumps over Lay, Sehun and Xiumin, this could be him using his phoenix fire wings to fly, or it could be showing him leaping over flames because he has the power to control fire. Sehun superpower is the ability to control wind, so during his parts, we see the other members shuffle around him as if they are creating a windstorm. And the part where they are sitting on the ground is supposed to represent a sundial -- EXO gets their power from the eclipse and their powers are affected by planetary and solar phenomenon, so the sundial is meant to represent the passing of time and their connection to the sun.
And at the end of "Monster, "when they sing "creepin', creepin', creeping," the dance move they are doing is called The Creep, from the iconic 1990s American girl group TLC, which was created for TLC's song "Creep." So the choreographer added this dance move as a nod to a famous dance move from the '90s.
The moving picture you see the EXO members create during "Wolf" is a tree and it's supposed to represent the Tree of Life, which is a visual connection between the storyline in "Mama" and the story in "Wolf". In their "Wolf" MV they create two separate trees (or one tree that is split in two) because the MV is when they still have 12 members. EXO-K (Korean) was one half of the tree and EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) was the other half. However, as you saw in the concert performance, they don't split up into two separate trees anymore because now there are only 9 members. After the 3 Chinese members left, they now do everything together, so there is only one tree. This concert was in 2016 and Kris, Luhan and Tao left in 2014/2015.
The concert version of "Wolf" is the remix version, so only the beginning and end of this performance is what you will see in their "Wolf" MV -- the middle part where it slows down is new, but the hype part at the beginning and end is exactly how the original song sounds. Often, the performance and choreography for their songs in concert is different than the original because they put a different twist on it every time they perform it.
In "Wolf" the members are supposed to be a wolf pack. So, the choreography and the song is about them acting like wolves.
The "Wolf" choreography was created to use movements that made them seem like wolves, and the moves, such as them showing their claws and bristling their backs and shaking are all things that wolves do as they compete for power and attention, etc. The wolf comes out of the forest (as he scratches the ground behind the Tree of Life) and he is stalking his prey. Their prey is the girl that, in the song, they are talking about being so obsessed with and in love with that they can't help but act like a wolf and capture her so that no one else can have her, etc.
In EXO's songs and MVs it is often thought that the girl that EXO sings about is a manifestation of the heart of the Tree of Life. So, that is why EXO becomes so enamored by her and so possessive and protective of her, etc. Protecting the heart of the Tree of Life -- or "the girl" -- is what EXO has been sent to Earth to do.
How I interpret the part where Kai Xs out the tree, is that EXO are searching for the Tree of Life and Kai has eliminated that tree from their search. It's not the tree they want, so they get rid of it. If you remember, in the intro to their "Mama" MVs the narrator talks about how the Tree of Life has been split in two and each half has been hidden away. It's EXO's job to find the two halves of the Tree of Life and reunite them to restore peace in the world. So, in their live performance, that is what they are doing. They are searching for the real Tree of Life.
The shadows that they dance with also could have something to do with their X-EXO clones, which was later introduced in their "Obsession" MV in 2019. If their shadows are X-EXO, this could explain why we see them fighting with, and eventually eliminating, their other selves. (And now it could also be connected to the silhouettes we see behind the lighted white wall in EXO's "Tempo" MV and SHINee's new "Hard" MV storyline.) Therefore, in this performance this could be a foreshadowing of events in their storyline that only begins to make sense as the story evolves and SM reveals more details in the future, etc. Which is why we say, if you want to really follow EXO's storyline, you have to pay attention to everything EXO does and you have to try and remember everything you have ever seen and heard from them. The story may not make sense at the moment, but it could be important in the future to help explain something else that is happening in EXO's storyline or even part of the larger SM Culture Universe storyline that involves all of SM Entertainment's groups and artists.
And, at the end, I don't necessarily think Kai is breathing heavily because he is tired. I actually think he is still in character. He has that brooding expression on his face and he is breathing heavily because he is acting like a wolf. Although I am sure the members are tired after those performances, you would be surprised how well they are able to recover. In reality, if you saw them interacting with the audience right after that performance you would probably be surprised at how they don't look or sound out of breath or tired. They have trained their whole career by doing cardio exercises while singing at the same time, in order to build endurance and stamina, so they are able to sing live while dancing this intently and not use up their energy.
In their dance practices we often see them wearing a lot of layers because it helps build endurance and it conditions their bodies to be able to dance on stage with their stage outfits and not be affected. Why it looks so effortless on stage and like they hardly even exert themselves sometimes, is because their body has become used to being dressed in layers while working hard and wearing heavy boots, etc. It's kind of like if you spend a lot of time in a sauna, after a while your body gets used to the heat and you can endure more heat for longer.
Just imagine, that was only one set from a more than 3-hour concert, where they performed more than 30 songs. So, if you think that performance was amazing, keep in mind, after this they only took about a 5-minute break to get ready for the next set of songs and change outfits, etc. You have only scratched the surface of what an EXO concert is like, just wait until you check out more performances from their concerts.
What Baekhyun screams in the middle of "Wolf " is "Tokyo Dome," which is where this EXO PLANET #3 - The EXO'rDIUM(dot) in Japan world tour concert is being held.

this last part of the Wolf remix (it is not present in the original version) - is the peak of kpop for me personally: main vocals sing the adlibs and main line of the song and the rest of the group sings the chorus and dances. this is the best live performance I have ever seen from anyone.
fun fact: although the song is called wolf, they actually sing the German "ulf" because it is easier for Koreans to pronounce.
there is also a demo version of the song, which was leaked before the official song release. it is... interesting XD but I kind of like it.

Wolf will definitely sound different in the studio version. They totally reworked it for this stage (and most of us much prefer the stage version) The MV for Wolf is a bit cringey and it doesn't have lyric subtitles (old SM vids almost never do) so you'll have to look up the lyrics. Translations vary in accuracy but some of the lyrics sound very odd or cringey in English.
Wolf came out before Growl and both are kinda in the same universe. Growl was the one that went insanely popular but they began with the concept-heavy Wolf first. It (and the many storyline stages that went with it) was heavily influenced by the vampire/werewolf craze at the time, esp Twilight series which directly influenced some of the camera shots they used.
It might sound cringy but even though many ppl disliked the Twilight series.. I liked it a lot.

I was able to attend exordium when they came to Mexico in 2017. Best freaking day EVER!!! That intro is so epic that I got goosebumps. One of the things that I remember the most is when Wolf was playing and we were so loud shouting AUUUU, and then Chanyeol asked us to scream again 😂 also they had some technical difficuties and the audio was out when they were performing TRANSFORMER, it was amazing because at the beginnig us fans were singing without the music and they still dance.
That EXO concert will remain as one of the best days of my life. I end up without my voice for like a week, my feet were hurting so bad but I was incredibly happy. Oh and I had VIP tickets so I was very close to them, I didn't even want to blink 😂😂

Wolf is that song that's better as a live version. Exo was heavily ridiculed in SoKor because of this song. It's so bad that they treated bad promotion as promotion (yk) and with that it got exo their first win since they debuted. Everyone had a love-hate relationship with it that even exo themselves tried to sabotage the song so it wouldn't come out but it still did, probably why they tried to redeem it in its live version.
And to add context, it actually is a dark song. It's about a werewolf falling in love with a human and was fighting itself if he should kill her or set her free when she found out his secret. They even made a little drama series of it that was shown in a year-end award show.
One of my live 😌 I still cant believe how their vocals can be this good while dancing and the choreo itself looks very difficult 🥲 but their vocals sounds exactly like the studio version ( i think everyone will agree with me ) 🙌 The whole live was perfection.

Yayyy finallyyy you reacted to it. I never saw such a live performance. It gave me everything vocals,dance, visuals, intensity, energy, concept. When you said very nice singing i was like wait for wolf. I had literally held my head when i saw this first time. In 2023 i found this hell of talented group. And thisss performance is one of the reasons i became their hardcore fan❤plz react to exo performance for call ke baby +chill+touch it. It is theatrical type performance. They are stage beasts. So versatile and graceful whatever genre they do they kill it. The beat thing about them is the song that is not good in mvs or original will be the best in their lives. It shows how good they are live.

6:05 the transitions in Monster actually formed the E X O as they move.. it was transitioned in different parts.
And as you watch the live concert performances, there are songs like Monster wherein fans take part in, you can hear the crowd shouting the chants because there are really songs that has fan chant that'll make the whole concert performance complete. EXO debuted in 2012 with 12 members. 8 Koreans and 4 Chinese. The group's idea was to promote their music both within Korea and within China, so the group was "divided" into two: EXO-K (with 6 Korean members) who promoted the group within Korea, singing the group's songs in Korean and EXO-M (with 2 Korean members and 4 Chinese members) who promoted the group within China, singing the group's songs in Mandarin. The group performed with all 12 members together, but most of the time EXO-K was in Korea while EXO-M was in China, participating in the group's interviews, programs and promotions. When EXO-M returned to Korea, EXO all got together again. The group also released their albums and MVs in 2 versions (Korean and Chinese).
EXO-K and EXO-M released MVs of the same songs but in different languages, in the MVs of both versions it was possible to see all 12 members, but the Korean version MVs highlighted the EXO-K members, while the Chinese version MVs highlighted the members of EXO-M, in addition, the verses of the songs were sung by different members in each of the versions/MVs.
The initial concept of the group is that the members of EXO were aliens who came from the Exoplanet to Earth and each member had a super power.
In 2014, two Chinese members (Kris and Luhan) left the group due to health issues, logistical difficulties due to the many trips between China and Korea and issues with the company.
In 2015, another Chinese member (Tao) also left the group due to health issues.
EXO has since stopped being divided into EXO-K and EXO-M and has become just EXO, with now 9 members (8 Koreans and 1 remaining Chinese).
EXO still promotes their songs in Korean and Chinese, and releases their albums and music videos in these two versions, in addition to also releasing some songs and albums in Japanese.
Lay, the only Chinese member of EXO, still remains in the group (as of 2024), but now resides in China and his last active participation in the group was in 2021 on the album Don't Fight The Feeling. For political reasons between Korea and China, Lay is unable to promote with the rest of the group, even though he wants to and always mentions the members in interviews (Lay is actively linked to Chinese politics so his situation is delicate).
The 8 Korean members remain active in the group, but due to military service enlistment, since 2019 the 8 members have been unable to promote together at the same time in the group. In Korea, military service is mandatory for men from the age of 20 and lasts about 2 years, idols must take a hiatus from their activities during this period, but idols can postpone their enlistment until their 30s.
All members' military service will officially end in 2025, and then EXO will be able to reunite again.
