yes you can cut it afterwards as to not have to go through all that mess again to open it. However you must be CAREFUL, since the clip is there for security reasons, i.e. don't try to open the keg when it has PRESSURE inside or things could jump into your face. PS: I still haven't been able to open mine lol
Do you have to keep something in the valve before it will twist? I can't seem to get the damn thing to turn clockwise. I'm hammering away and just knocking off pieces of metal.
