      Hi Tim, I made drawers for my old Land Rover years ago but they were way heavier than these. After looking at these XTM ones I thought I would give them a go. I will be taking off in a couple of weeks so I really think they should make my trip more convenient. I will be post videos when that trip is completed with my assessment of them. Good luck with yours & yes I think the price was really good.

    Hi Doug,
    Thanks for your previous reply. Also wondering how you find standing in front of the food prep/cutting part of the slide out kitchen when the ute door is where you'd stand. Do you stand on the outer side of the ute to do this?

I actually use it as part of the prep area but as I travel solo I guess I dont need as much space as say a family might. I have a few videos which actually show the kitchen being used. From memory it was a video at Carawine Gorge but you will have to wade through a lot of travel footage but that is what fast forward is for!

    • @dougrorison1211
      @dougrorison1211 3 года назад +2

      @@davidkelly1677 Hi Dave, I found them to be sturdy enough for their purpose. They are put together with nylock nuts & under the 'normal' conditions that you would encounter on Australian roads, they should hold up as well as any other brands on the market. I know that some of the people who put videos up on You Tube travel on very ' extreme' tracks & literally 'shake the shit' out of their vehicles & their equipment. I would have no doubt that any of the equipment on the market could not stand up to that sort of abuse. I always use the dictum that I buy the cheapest possible thing that will do the job & that if it fails then I replace it. There is a saying that 'you only get what you pay for' but seriously, most of the stuff we are sold today comes from China anyway & a lot of it comes out of the same factories. People who think that they are getting a 'better' product because they pay heaps of money for it are deluding themselves. I just completed an 8000km trip & the XTM stuff I used is as good as when I left.
      On a prior trip I used drawers that I actually built myself & remember having to replace a screw at the back of them when one of the runners came loose & the drawer would not slide That is one of the reasons I put my faith in these XTM drawers & they stood up to any punishment that I gave them. Having said that, I do not like to abuse my gear because I might come to rely on it!

      Hi Kevin. If you pull the drawer out to its fullest extent, you will see at the back a ring clip on either side. Pull each of these in towards the centre & the drawer will slide fully out of the case. This will give you access to the bottom of the unit which has holes so that you can screw or bolt the unit to the tub of your ute.
