It is not easy finding quality workmanship across all the trades these days. Fewer people doing it and higher costs of operation are just a couple of the challenges. Thanks for posting.
There used to be some real good machine shops I would go to back in the 80s and 90s and never had issues, I mean never cause the guys at all them were racers and car guys and would get me the best combo for my app. Its a dying breed no more speed shops and it was even like a favorite pass time for me just hanging out talking engines. They even had price books like a menu. To this day I can remember the names of the guys and shops who did my work. They are local legends.
Got back a Toyota 3RZ head from the shop that still had loaded EGR gunk in the intake ports, after a full supposed rebuild. There was only 1 shop open in the area due to the China virus lockdown at the time. Took the head back and he went back thru and cleaned and double checked everything. 2nd time was the charm.
Holy shit....I just finished a set of FIA rules approved, and time period, for endurance use , cast iron 289 1965 heads ......... and then I see THIS....... I need some heart drug medication and a truck load of tranquilizers ..... Planing 1 head takes about 1.5 hour to set up and cut of as less as possible.... Porting by hand takes 17 hours at least. Cc-ing all the chambers and get them within 0.25cc ....another couple of hours..... Aaaahhhhhh.........
Parks Machine and Engine, Seguin Texas, Rick has years of experience with all machining of any engines Diesel and gas and he builds from stock to pro mod engines and he doesn't skimp on machine work or parts!
I took an old VW 4 cylinder block in to be rebuilt and bored out for oversize pistons. The guy failed to adjust his cutter head and bored one cylinder substantially over size, into the water jackets. Not an easy engine to obtain.

Shops don't care about quality anymore.

And there's no language barrier!
Doesn’t speak English was his “run away” red flag...

Sorry to break your bubble, old vws don't have water jackets. They are air cooled.
Glad to see things are going well.😁
Hey Josh, hope you are doing well too man.
@@scotts439 Enjoying the weather in AZ and have a nice shop built on my property. Things are going well.

Pretty sad workmanship. You'll make it right though!
