This guy (Fred) John Landecker and Larry Lujack... three of the top jocks in AM radio in Chicago no matter where they were working they brought Their audience with them!
I know Fred. Last time I spoke with him, I thought he was upset with me, but that wasn't the case. Cumulus let him go from WLS-FM. In 1989, they knew the music was coming to an end, the format going all talk. Phil Duncan was the last D.J. on WLS-AM. It was the following month later in August 1989. Last song played was from the band Chicago, "Just You And Me". It was a shock because nobody knew until the last minute, at the end of Phil's show, there was no more music on WLS-AM.

Nobody on the radio has ever made me laugh so hard, no matter where Fred was working.
Couldn't agree with you more, he was the most underrated of the big three, Lujack Landecker and Fred!

Somewhere there's tape of that. Just that song (appropriate), the news and Sally Jessy Raphael. And just like that, the Big 89 was gone.
Who was it that did 'the last angry man' rants on WLS? They were so hilarious and brilliant: 'I am thankful Cheez Whiz contains neither'
I'd love to hear some of Phyllis Levy's old shows that were broadcast on WLS at this time ... does anybody know where to find them?
