- Transformers Missing Link from Takara-Tomy continues to take the toys of the 80s and retools them with modern articulation! C-03 Bumblebee (Bumble) and C-04 Cliffjumper (Cliff) are the next toys to receive this treatment and Captain Kyle reviews them to see if they are worth it! Plus, he shows a mystery figure that might just put them to shame!
Bumblebee and Cliffjumper are two of the original Autobot mini-bots released in 1984. Both quickly became popular characters, portrayed by Dan Gilvezan and Casey Kasem respectively. The original toys have been reissued as keychains as well as new toys, including one with Bumblebee getting a more cartoon-accurate face. While small in stature, these bots made trouble for the Decepticons, though Cliffjumper could have not missed Megatron. Not the sniper he wants to be. These Missing Link versions add articulation and weapons to the original toys at the same scale. Captain Kyle goes through them thoroughly and then brings out a mystery knock-off Transformer that is sure to blow your mind.

00:04:32 - there's a small peg on the side of his gun that you can attach to the inside of his left foot (inside of VW bug trunk) just before you transform him. Nice storage spot.
Sweet transformers line. I can't wait to get Cliffjumper. loving that huge gun. :)
The head not folding all the way in and leaving a gap between the panel and the body of the car is accurate to actual Penny Racers as that gap is where the slot was where you would insert the penny to make them pop a wheelie. I love that attention to detail there.
That is the Impossible Toys version. I bought a bunch of them at TFCon Chicago in 2014.
I just received mine, a gift from Jimmy G, I'm excited for these guys. Great review!
8:20 That's a 3rd Party figure.
Impossible Toys, MC-02 Minicar "Hill Jumper".
They made pretty much every penny racer styled minibot they could.
They even made a proper version of Bumper!
If they weren't so hard to find I'd get every last one.
For anyone that's curious...
MC-01 "Bumble Bug" is Bumblebee.
MC-02 "Hill Jumper" is Cliffjumper as seen in the video.
MC-03 "Bump" is Bumper.
MC-04 "Hub" is Hubcap.
MC-05 "Gold Bee" is exactly what it sounds like, a G1 style Gold Bug. (Redeco + new head of the Bumble Bug)
MC-06 "Glypher" is Glyph. (Redeco of Gold Bee)
MC-07 "Tapper" is Tap-Out. (Redeco of Hill Jumper)
MC-08 "Bee Bite" is Bug Bite. (Redeco of Bumble Bug)
And there was even a boxed set of based on the evil clones.
These were aptly named Night-Bee, Night-Jumper, and Night-Bump.
PS- The heads on these figures don't turn, but they do slide forward to be a bit more centered on the body.
PPS- Impossible Toys made a few cool TF products including a bunch of G1-ish style TFTM figures including Arcee and the Allicons.
I agonized about getting these...oooof. The price is just too much. Cliffjumper in particular though, I used to take him arond with me in my pocket all over the place. One day I lost him outside cause he fell off the railing but a couple years later when we took the back step off to replace it he was there in the dirt lol. I shoulda kept that one but he was always one of my favourite and one of two first minibots I got, the other was Seaspray. I don't mind that they are small they are supposed to be one for one same except the extra poseability. I would however love a supersize one to come out someday, maybe in diecast metal. That would be epic. If we're lucky some time they might come out with the G2 colours for these two. Expense was the only thing holding me back and if I was a rich man I would have them for sure lol. It's going to be interesting if they put out Huffer and Brawn what they might do for the hands on those. This whole line fascinates me. Just making the robots in the original quality is great with the chrome and rubber tires. So nostalgic.
Very cool! Great review! mind blown! 👍🤯
Ah, Impossible toys made that big Cliff...I luckily got All 9 of their minicars for $28 USD about 10 years ago...come by my channel, I did a review for them. They did BumbleBee, Gliff, Bugbite, Cliffjumper, Waspinator, Hubcap, a yellow cliffjumper , Gold Bug and a light green, almost teal Cliffjumper. They arent cheap anymore tho. Look for Impossible Minicar set if you are curious. Also, meant to ask, who is Logan? Just curious cuz you are always preemptively telling them to shut up ( Im getting deja vu lol)
Thanks. A friend texted me after he watched the video to tell me the KO was from Impossible Toys. And they weren't well received when they first came out. I envy your purchase, as they are much more expensive now. I will get them when I see deals.
As for Logan, he is a long-time watcher who comments a lot and does often twist my words into inappropriate meanings in comments. So, it has become a thing to tell him to shut up whenever I say something that I know can be twisted. All in good fun.
@ I feel like Logan is a kindred spirit lol. In my many years of life I have had many people say things followed by a “Shut up” in my direction . I hope you can score the whole set for a good price. Love watching your vids, always fun
Great video, but as other have attested, the cost is ridiculous. $40/each, $80 for these two? C’mon. It’s like what Takara doing w/ their MP line - charging more simply for the name & supposed higher quality. Now, if they made them $50 for a two pack? Sounds reasonable. For some, the cool factor has no budget, but there’s plenty of cooler figures to be had for $80.
Oh, I agree. I find the price excessive myself. I was hoping they would have scaled them up and given Bumblebee his cartoon accurate face. I really hope future releases are more reasonable.
I got these guys and do like them. I agree that they shouldn’t be as expensive as they are…but…nostalgia, I guess, lol.
Use the cards to gain entry to secret areas! "I'm Bumblebee, shhh, I'm in *disguise*."
Expensive per pound for something small eh? Just like the filet mignon when I worked at Hanaford....and increased in cost just as badly. When we got the original figures in 84 they were $0.99 for each of them. And these were what? Like $45+ each. That's one hell of a increase since then.
I'd love to get these myself, but at that price I'm better off focusing on other current main line figures I'm missing.
these are kinda expensive
$40+ each, yeah I’ll wait. They’re cool but geez. At least it’s not hollow. And, I’m waiting to see if our awesome friends from China will make BB & CJ the same way and cheaper as they did the Missing Link Optimus Prime. Which I did get and comparing to the ML Prime, wow almost the same thing and cheaper!
NO RUB SIGN?...
On the foot.
Yeah the "Missing Dinks" just don't do it for me, overpriced and apathetic! If you wanted to turn Optimus's head you loosened the screw. lol
