I respect Jimmy Carter's moral character. He criticitzed Obama for keeping Guantanamo Bay open and for the federal surveillance programs revealed by Edward Snowden. He also opposed the Iraq war. His involvement in humanitarian efforts post-presidency is certainly admirable.
He was AGAINST FED FUNDS for Planned Parenhood in 1977- but not later on. Carter on Planned Parenthood: "Their services reach far beyond abortions and can save many lives through cancer screening, prenatal services, and adoption referrals. Stop living in 1977!
There is a reason why he's 99 he never did intentionally bad for people had a lovely long living wife and kids and man was never arrogant and was kind in his presidential term so, yeah 1st October from next year onwards on his 100th birthday should be observed as National Humanitarian Day.
He was an ok president, but not terrible, as some opinions posted here. Terrible is an appropriate label for Andrew Jackson, Frankin Pierce, James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson and Donald Trump.

I remember how relieved the country was when Reagan became president. Iran backed down, the hostages were released, the energy crisis went away, and everybody was happier. Carter was low energy & not intimidating just when we needed someone who was.
