LL's flow on his second main verse is nasty. I've never been a huge fan of his raps but he knew the assignment and showed up. Such an impressive track.
@Darrnell Bradley (DB) Yes, LL is that dude. NOTE: you also might want to check out the original Murdergram joint from LL's classic: "Momma Said Knock You Out" album in 1990. See, I understand that your generation may not get the full gravity of who he is as a lyricist, or even what he means to the culture, because y'all probably know him more for being an actor and those R&B rap joints for the ladies. But people from my generation (which includes Em) know him to not only be one of the illest emcees that's ever graced the mic, but also one of its fiercest battle rappers ever as well. That's WHY Em has REPEATEDLY stated time and time again, that LL is his favorite emcee. He's is an ardent student of hip hop history and ALWAYS pays respect/homage to the lyrical greats that preceded him. Em even shouted out LL's hood when he said: "As far as boulevards, I'm talkin' about Farmers like insurance claims." If you know anything about LL's earlier work, you know that he ALWAYS shouted out his hood, aka, Farmers Boulevard. Em also shouted out another lyrical giant in Big Daddy Kane in his last verse when he said: "Now women treat me like BDK (Big Daddy Kane), the king and they feed me grapes." This was in reference to Kane's "Long Live the Kane" album cover, when he's surrounded by a bunch of ladies feeding him grapes. He also said: "So take a B.C. date 'cause you're history" Which is one of Kane's most legendary/iconic bars. So, nuff respect to Em for paying homage to those who inspired and paved the way for him.
I think there is a Romans scheme in there as well. BC, veni vidi vici (Caesar‘s words: I came, I saw, I conquered), history, the grape feeding. There might be more 🤔
My heart melted when you mentioned Dan and his similar rhyming to Em. Funny story, back in the day I actually started listening to Eminem cuz I liked Dan Bull so much. I have mad respect for both.
You missed the shout out to BDK, Big Daddy Kane. Q-tip produced this. The BDK verse was a callback to the Long Live The Kane album cover that showed him as the king being fed grapes.

I can tell this young man didn't grow up on L but as long as Em know about L.
He missed a lot. It's cross generational. You're right. Good review but lyrically he's missing the entardreds cause he don't know.
