I run 93dB efficient speakers using 100wpc mono-blocks and the difference over using the “adequate” 35wpc amp I have is staggering at similar volumes. I am a fan of transmission line speakers, and they have gotten far more advanced over the last several decades. The qualities you spoke of - effortless and articulate bass and open midrange that sounds like an open baffle - are what I hear with good transmission line designs.
I am so pleased you like them. I purchased the original Fact 12 back in 2015 and I still love them. My situation was the reverse of yours as I knew I was not getting the best out of them. However, I have been fortunate enough to be able to upgrade my digital source components, preamp and power amp to the point where I am really happy with the sound. It is testament to the speakers that they can reveal the improvements made by the rest of my system.
Congrats on the new speakers! Goes a long way in confirming that if it sounds good to your own ears...and fits within personal criteria (price, look, sound,etc.)...buy it. Cheers

It’s a Blue Note production from the early sixties and you can get it on Qobuz. Exhuberance superbly recorded.Tobi Ilu, the last track is a real head banger!
Hi Hans , Great Tutorial on loudspeaker cabinets , PMC , I built my transmission line loudspeaker cabinet about 40 years ago it’s time is approximately 1 1/2 m in height, the drivers used to be Peerless, But unfortunately one of the traitors decided to pack up so I’ve now replaced all driver units for SEAS Tweeters 27TBCD / Woofer U22REX/PL . They have changed completely, I did not change the crossover unit in anyway. They have now seem to come alive, I will try and have a listen to the PMC but not sure where they are available, I find your territorial on Audiophile very interesting, keep up the great work. PHIL FROM THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOULIN FRANCE.
I am a Fan of PMC . Own a pair and appreciate rhe same qualities in them as you do . I traded them in for my Martin Logsn electrostatic speakers and was amazed by the effortless bass and the spatial projection qualty
I know, I once owned two different ML models. The step towards the AudioPhysic Scorpios was already an improvement. The PMC are even in a different league all together (which they should be for that money)..
Given your experience in the field and the sheer amount of speakers to which you (likely) are able to access, I think it speaks volumes that you've decided that these are to be your new reference loudspeakers. I bet your Setup 1 sounds phenomenal and that you really do "Enjoy the music" listening to it 👏
Thanks for your informative vid.s, Hans; they helped me figure out what a dac was for, etc., when I got back into the stereo game after a 25 year hiatus. Nice choice of speakers. In a lower price class, but in line with your speaker criteria and comments, I think you would also enjoy Spendor SP2/3r2 speakers. I got a used pair a couple of years ago, and they play very well indeed in my simple setup: NAD M22 v1 amp and Benchmark DAC3hgc (with usb to imac).
Congratulations. PMC are indeed great speakers overalll. They’re straight shooters with that rare combination av neutrality and transparency while still being highly engaging and enjoyable. Honest and Fun if you like. Like a great friend.
i also own a set of pmc ib2 se 's and they sound great.especially the mids. you would think that the singers were in your front room sometimes.they sound that real..
Excellent choice, Hans. I recently upgraded my speakers to a much superior model, very revealing. The thing that struck me most is the different behavior with the other components of the rig. Let me explain: I am trying two excellent dacs and my choice was falling on one of the two. With new speakers, the choice unquestionably fell on the other. I believe that your new speakers will be of great help in your reviews, allowing you even more precise judgments.
I’ve had the 12s for around 6 years & could not be happier although I am intrigued by Magico A3. Would be interested if anyone here has experienced them.
I almost bought the pmc fact 8 signature and decided last minute (after blind testing with my wife) to buy the devore o/93 instead. I rly like the pmc, but it is way too clean and thin sounding for me.
Hi Hans! I love your videos and learn a lot from them. I have my fathers wonderful B&W801s3 and I’ve heard often about what you mention regarding impedance curve. I’ve struggled to find any material to help me understand the phase angle effect though and how that interacts with impedance and the effect on the driving electronics. I would love it if you could direct me to some good material, or even better 😉 make a video on it.
Congrats on your new speakers Hans. They will serve your pleasure and profession well. I know that you won't do this but these are very unforgiving and don't gloss over bad recordings.... Garbage In Garbage Out. I auditioned these and put random recordings through them as well as audiophile recordings. Be aware all those out there in audiophile land.
You are right to some degree. Yes they are unforgiving but offer so much back in return. I have a playlist with rock & pop from 1950 up to today and when I play that I hear the differences between the production style and production gear. But I see that as belonging to the music.
Fantastic vid! I am a PMC person too but not that high up the food chain. But maybe once I great the ultra neo in the set up the need might get obvious?
Congratulations, Hans. Have you ever had the chance to listen to any of the PMC active professional monitors, in particular the Result 6 model? I am intrigued with the idea of going active and these have no DSP and are all analog and simple in design utilizing transmission line loading. I would be interested in your thoughts. Thank you for the update and your continued work. It’s good to see you back with renewed health and enthusiasm. Take care…best regards, John
I was very curious about your direction choice. PMC are hard to hear in the US. I have heard the little ones and they are very good. MSRP of about $20k USD would put them on par with the ATC 50 Passives, Probably nothing low enough from Wilson Benesch. The MBLs at $12k sounded quite good at Axpona. You are looking for detail over surround effect it seems. Great choice!!
One of my main criteria for loudspeakers is that they are 3-way in general, with a wide-dispersion dome mid-range driver and these speakers meet that criteria. If the mid-range reproduction is not persuasive, what's the point of a loudspeaker. This statement is actually intended as a compliment and would make me consider the PMCs. as they are 3-ways with a mid-range dome.
@@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel Response appended above: ""This statement is actually intended as a compliment and would make me consider the PMCs. as they are 3-ways with a mid-range dome."

HI Hans, I'm considering the Fact 12 Signature as one of my next purchases. I have seen some comments about the 'lagging' bass if seated from a distance due to the transmission line and I would like to hear your thoughts about it.
Listen to live music first and then to thr Fact.12’s. It’s the most ‘live’ speaker I know. I wonder if that comment comes from uneducated thinking about a transmission line.
@@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel Thanks Hans. I've seen a few of those comments floating around, which was why I asked, and you've had a proper presentation of these speakers in your videos. I used to play live in bands a lot and have also personally had auditions of the Fact 12 Signature. I'm super impressed with the performance and I've never heard midrange like this from other speakers. Other towers I'm considering are Dynaudio Confidence 60, Perlisten S7t and perhaps Borresen, all of which are considerably pricier, yet I find myself going back to that midrange beauty of the PMCs. Will watch your other videos and see what your overall experience was like. Cheers
I don’t review loudspeakers but I had to describe the speakers I use for my reviews. I need to use analog speakers to be able to test digital front ends. Otherwise the Grimm speakers would be high on the list.
Hi Hans, nice system. After reviewing all the wiring option for the Fact 12 signatures, I am curious how you have them? What are your thoughts on bi-wire vs using jumpers. I recently tried using high quality jumpers and found a significant downgrade in sound quality.
thanks Hans. I'd be interested in whether you wanted a 'better' speaker, as in more revealing, better clarity, say, or something slightly 'different', as in a bigger sound, more bass, or more 'something'? Or indeed a combination of better and different.
The output of woofers is defined by the displacement they are able to generate. And that’s a result of the diameter and the travel of the cone, in conjunction with the cabinet design. In this case two 14 cm (not 13) woofers are of the long throw type so they will produce more air displacement than some other woofers. Using two woofers doubles that, resulting in a cone surface of 1230 cm2 while one 18 cm woofer has a surface of only 1017 cm2. Then the transmission line cabinet optimally uses the air displacement at the rear of the cone almost doubling that. But you could have established that yourself by simply listening.
@@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel I'm curious to hear that indeed. I listened to several speakers in that configuration. The bass was nicely control, somehow deep but no meat on the bone, no vibration and diffusion in the room. The presence was not there too. If i can, i will listen for sure
Actually it is for every 3dB increase, you need to double the power input. If you want to double your volume, you will need ten times the power. on another note, those speakers look very good but some of the crossover parts look cheap. Bar core inductors and sand cast resistors should be avoided at all costs in high end crossovers. Upgrading these in the future would be your best upgrade path. Happy listening!
If you spend this amount of money you can buy an appropriate amp. More important is that the actual impedance below 100 Hz never is lower than 5Ω so it's easy to drive. My 125 watt in 8Ω Ayre amp can play them very loud.
