Decided to remove the Alpine alarm system first owner installed. Never really worked and I think it's what is draining the battery.

I've the Alpine SEC-8063 model system in my 2000 Miata. After going through your video a few times, I'm uncomfortable to start clipping off wires. Plus, I couldn't locate a Valet switch anywhere. So I'm planning to simply unplug the four connectors and the power input from the main module and seeing what happens. I'll report back!

So how did you make out?

@@bazehed1 to be brief, it worked out perfectly.
Details: After disconnecting all the electrical plugs from the main module, I did a test start. It started up right away. Wanting to also remove the display module from where it had been double-taped to the console near the gear shifter, I removed the necessary screws from the console cover plate (or whatever it's called) and lifted the plate high enough to work that module's wiring plug out from under the dash and out through the plate. I reattached the plate's screws. To finish off the job, I taped the flat sections of all the electrical plugs to keep them from shorting out, then taped them and their associated wires together into a tight bundle and tapen the bundle against the steering column. Then, just in case some future owner would be interested in reconnecting everything, I placed the main module, the display module and owner's manual into a ziploc bag and saved it away.
I hadn't seen any need to do anything with the plugs other than simply tape them closed. Much easier than tracing each of them down and cutting them our, which would entail taking the risk that I'd run into an electrical problem somewhere down the road. And besides, as I've stated above, this gives me the option of selling it to some future owner.

Did it end up fixing your problem? I’m currently thinking about getting rid of mine

Yes, but remember the draw coming from your car might be different from mine. Good luck and should take it out either way...Weight savings, 😆

I know it's been a couple of years but do you still have the alpine car alarm if so are you willing to sell it?
