We were there last week; awesome. Staying in the park is crucial, if you want to get the most out of your visit. We stayed two nights at the John Muir lodge, followed by two nights at the Wuksachi lodge. Both were excellent, have restaurants, and surprisingly good WiFi. Generals highway and Kings Canyon Scenic highway are great drives. As long as you observe the posted speed limit, they’re fine.
I've heard its twisting and higher elevation. If i want to be on the moutain side opposite the cliff side should i come from La or Fresno ? I want to be closer to the mountain away from the railing.
Lasty week I saw what looked like a bear on its hind legs. The hair under the arms was blowing in the wind which I've never seen in a bear. This was at night about 5 miles in by the store and 25 minutes West. Just saying.
