      Every decade is like that. It takes about 2 or 3 years for it to end. That's the reason early 2000s seem closer to the 90s than anything.

      @Jack Straw oh I was talking about feeling the effects of 911. I felt like the effects of 911 really didnt hit us until like 06. I mean I know things changed immediately after 911, but Im talking about people becoming fully aware. Like once the shock wore off.

      Nah things started changing drastically around 03-04 when the south started taking over in music and technology was taking off like crazy. 2000 through 2003 was very similar

    Early/mid 2000s still had a 90s vibe to it. Overall, the 2000s decade ushered in a whole lot of changes in this world. Once I started seeing more cameras being put up in late 2000s, I knew things were definitely headed in another direction.

    I was a child around this time and every Summer day was spent OUTSIDE. Running around, playing with open fire hydrants, jumping rope, playing tag, roller skates, scooters, attending endless block parties, water balloon/gun fights, and so much more.
    Anytime I hear children playing on my block it makes me so happy because it reminds me of THIS. I mean it definitely doesn’t compare lol, but it’s a special moment for them.

    I was 33 years old and living in Bed Stuy around this time. I got my first computer this year. Wow!!! Things were mad different back then. People were just a tad more nicer and tolerant of each other. More unity 1993-2003!

      BNOZ99 ! I don’t think anyone loves poverty. However, people learn how to deal with it, and make the best of it, it’s a humbling experience.. which results into a form of unity and bond. Which is what I miss from these times.. no. I don’t like trashy areas. I love a clean neighborhood, however that was then, and I appreciated it, because it made me, now that I know better, I still appreciate it. It’s the moments that I miss & value, not the circumstances.

    Born in 1998 i’m at least happy that I got to experience what life was like before it got ruined by social media and phones at a kid. My younger sister is 11 years younger than me and it’s crazy how different our childhoods were. We’re moving towards the future while the state of the world is rapidly decreasing. To the point that I could never bring a poor kid to this effed up planet. Sucks that i’ll never get to enjoy this level of absolute freedom as an adult 💔💔

    A lot of these people moved out of NY to the south and west coast. Now NY is filled with brand new immigrants that didn't live there before in large numbers... it won't ever be the same

    I'm 27 and live in Flatbush. This area still looks like this. People aren't out like they used to be, but that's any city in 2019. The Bush is still liive especially on church, just more police and cameras now

    I live in Canada in a majority non black neighborhood so when I see videos like this it makes me happy and jealous a bit because I want to come down and be among my own people, even that I feel like I am an outcast due to not being among alot of blacks my whole life besides church.

    Wow i don't know why but those kids dancing at this music in the streets, adults chilling, it looks like when i was little. The crazy part is that it was not Brooklyn but Rome and in 2003..
    I'm not kidding 😂 and those little guys playing with cars and little girls dancing the same as me at 5 hahah is basically me and my cousins.. it's so weird how i feel home watching this. Cool times man..
    Sorry i had to share this cause is crazy how i can totally see my family how it was years ago right there.

And quite frankly, the 2020's so far is arguably a lot worse than the 1990's for numerous reasons. Each decade in the 21st Century is worse than the last despite technological advancements.

    Looking at this makes me so emotional to be honest I’m 22 and I was probably 2 years around this time but even then and few years after was really a good time to be alive in bk because social media and nothing like that was around yet that there was no distractions everyone use to interact personal everything really changed drastically late 08

    First person I noticed is my mans Zeqway!! Nigga love rapping since he a kid 😂 Grew up to be one of Brooklyn's/Flatbush realest brothers up to date. He a real one fr! Back in those days was fun tho, Brooklyn was a party central 4 - 5 days straight. A lot of homies lost thier lives as well out in those same exact streets. Flatbush wasn't nothing to play with back then, it was like every day dudes/people was getting gott out there when is was growing up. I lived on Flatbush and Albemarle rd. Glad to say things have evolved and changed where things are a bit more descent now. After all, things can't and won't always be the same. Change is inevitable. This is like 3 and a half decades ago where watching at here lol.
