This prestigious historical estate for sale is located in the countryside near Florence, where the presence of villas and farms, ecclesiastical buildings, farmhouses and related crops have contributed over the centuries, in symbiosis with the natural landscape, to the creation of that synthesis of calm essentiality and formal elegance typical of the Florentine spirit. This frescoed Villa, of extraordinary historical and artistic interest and in fact protected by the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape, is spread over 3 levels for a total of 1,300 square meters and boasts perfect conditions. The first evidence of this extraordinary historic villa dates back to the 14th century, although the complex took on its present form in the Renaissance, when it was purchased by Matteo Carlini, a well-known lawyer and notary in the service of the Medici Grand Dukes, who wanted to undertake the construction of a prestigious and majestic villa, suitable for his role in the court of the time. The expansion works were carried out with extreme care in respect of the surroundings, limiting the height of the buildings and colonnades to guarantee this prestigious estate an atmosphere of exclusivity and contemplation, also favored by the incredible view of Florence and Sesto Fiorentino. Frequented by the Medici family for recreation and pleasure, over the centuries this prestigious estate has continued to welcome historical and illustrious figures, always in search of an elitist atmosphere in communion with nature. In the twentieth century it was also owned by the great cycling champion Gino Bartali.
The main entrance to the villa is located at the end of an enchanting avenue lined with cypresses which leads to a hillock where the main building stands in a panoramic position. The interior details are simply enchanting. From the large frescoed entrance, where the heraldic symbols of the Medici and other noble families can be recognized, we enter the annex on the left, while on the right there is a big kitchen with access to the garden, rooms and spare bathrooms. Continuing along the corridor we reach the incredible main hall, with a very high vaulted ceiling and a big fireplace, and a refined dining room. Still on the ground floor, there is a study and other rooms that will enchant you with their timeless beauty. The best jewel set in this majestic historical villa is the family chapel with a vaulted ceiling, frescoed by painter Giovanni da San Giovanni. The artist decorated eminent Italian palaces and churches and some of his works are kept in the Uffizi Galleries. The area is completed by a delightful winter garden and a spacious independent study overlooking the garden, with its own bathroom and kitchenette. The property is equipped with a lift to allow easy movement between floors.
Upstairs is the sleeping area: 5 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, including a master bedroom with huge wardrobe. Beyond the precious and imposing loggia there is an independent apartment, ideal for guests.
The basement of this extraordinary villa for sale hides a priceless treasure. Here, again in the sixteenth century, a complex thermal water system was set up, reflecting the aristocratic distinction of the Carlini family, then owners. The prestigious nymphaeum, decorated with statues and fountains, was fed by a source of thermal water located upstream of the villa, which can still probably be restored today. In the center there is a splendid intact fountain attributed to the artist Bernardo Buontalenti. The Villa and its baths were also visited and appreciated by the grand dukes of Tuscany, as celebrated by an inscription dedicated to Cosimo II de Medici and a painted family coat of arms visible on the entrance wall of the basement.

The patio, stove, frescos, the office which would be a stunning art room, the thermal baths, the beautiful outdoor spaces, all make it very pleasant home.. the lower profile lends a bit of comfort to such a formal design. I bet there are wonderful sunsets and sun rises. The two apartments are a nice bonus too.
