I ship all my shoes in clear plastic bag . It also helps In case somehow your package is in left out in the rain like our carrier does and there’s no water damage . If they’re over $50 or have any details that could get ruined from rubbing up against each other I put one shoe in each bag .
I learned so much! Wow! As a side note for Padded Flat Rate envelopes or mailers for shoes going 1st class, put the label on first. It can be difficult to put the label on afterwards and have it be flat & easy to scan. Keep rocking Daltonius & Carylee!
The timing of this for my business was perfect, thank you! I just mailed a pair of shoes in the padded envelope and have been worried about the condition they’ll arrive in and if it’s even acceptable to do. Thank you for confirming that it’s okay! Enjoy your day!
This video is packed with so much useful information! Thank you for constantly teaching the best methods for shoe sales and shipping. You and karliey are such a good team, can’t wait for the next video!
This was awesome! I am just getting started and came across some great brand new high end brands that do well on eBay yesterday. I am a bit overwhelmed on how to get started. This helps so much! I will be sure to use the affiliate links. Thank you!
I tape all my nib boxes shoes on both sides and then throw them in a decorative poli bag to fit accordingly and slap a label on them, haven't had a complaint yet. Cutting the USPS boxes is too much work for my liking.
Great video! I haven't started sourcing and/or selling shoes yet, but this is most helpful. No free boxes for us Canadians (thanks Canada Post) but still these tips are really useful!
Thank you so much for this helpful video! Are you doing free shipping or are you charging the customer on eBay? If you are charging the customer, are you charging the calculated rate or a flat rate?
Thanks Dalton for your information on shipping shoes boots etc.. the only difference that I do is put my items in a plastic bag/bags…I’ve received EBay items sent without the bags in pouring rain delivery and the items do get wet through the boxes. Just my 2 cents…
I know a lot of people do this, but I never once have had this be an issue. I’d rather have to refund 1 in 10,000 sales than continually have to buy poly bags for my shoes
AND reinforce the longer medium flat rate box with tape at the top, where the seam is, tape that all the way around, and squeeze boots in there! As long as they fit and you can close the box, you're golden (over 4 pounds, boots etc). Without reinforcing with tape, the seam pops. Tape it first, so good.
I'm trying to learn shoes from you. I have actually been buying more shoes now, one being a pair of toddler Acme boots that are new. I paid 3.99. If I looked up proper comps, I think they sell for over 300.00. Crazy! I also picked up there pairs of Hoka one ones at Goodwill for 7.99 each. Thanks again. I'm usually a hard good seller but still learning and trying to expand my knowledge from the great resellers like you. PS: I'm planning on buying something from Carley, so I can leave a bad review. ;) JK Carley
I have a pair of tall faux leather boots that can fold over I think they can fit in a padded flat rate, should I go for it? ETA: they have high heels and they sold for under $15
put your shipping label on the padded flat rate envelope BEFORE you put the shoes in (making sure the shoes will fit) AND the envelopes USED TO BE more stretchy; i can't stretch a size 9 mens in there anymore, no more stretchy stretchy :(
Are you weighing the box and shoes when you left the item and then if you find someone buys a pair of heavy shoes that are like 3# and you had it in a box priority to ship and they live on other side of US like California do you automatically put it in a flat rate envelope and adjust price? I’m not understanding all the listing and shipping parts. I’m still trying to learn it all.
Thumbs up, just a suggestion start putting your shoes in a #7 size poly mailer bag before u put in box.... had a customer on poshmark ask for a refund because they said box was wet, shipping paper, and shoes were damp after mail carrier left on door step.... was not my fault but that got refunded
I know a lot of people do that, but I’ve never once had this happen. I’d rather have to refund one sale out of 10,000 than have to constantly purchase poly mailers
Great video, thanks for all this awesome info. However, you said that shipping USPS Flat Rate is often going to be more expensive than shipping regular Priority since our shoes are only going to weigh 2 to 3 pounds. But when I calculate a price based on a 3lb box it comes out to $22.45, whereas the Medium Flat Rate comes out to $17 and change. What am I missing here? I have a pair of women's combat boots that weigh 2lbs 3ozs and with the box, it comes out to 2lbs 9oz but no matter what when I calculate a price on USPS I get the same $22.45 price to ship them. They would fit a minimum of 3.5" x 12" x 7.5" box. Am I missing something? Is $17 Medium Flat Rate Priority really the cheapest option to ship these shoes?
@@ConcernedCitizen-fx7du yep a big 30 pound newsprint way better than that packing paper he shows.. also Priority is way higher than USPS ground advantage. Yes you have to provide your own box but it still way way cheaper than priority and usps ground is just as fast as priority!!!
This is the exact question I had. I use Mercari and just added shoes to sell and unsure which way to ship plus he's using usps boxes that are free in the mail but how would we know the shipping cost. Trying to figure out whether to offer free shipping or use the app labels and find a box.
@Maximus Silver Stacker fed ex ground is cheaper, however, finding a box or buying a box to ship the shoes will add extra cost wouldn't it. If using the free usps boxes, you just pay a little extra for shipping but will already have a box available.🤔
I may have missed it in a previous video, but I have been comparing shipping prices and the prices I see people use for shipping are a lot lower then what it shows on the ebay calculator for shipping. Is there a different way or is it just taking the shipping hit? Between the supplies and say a $4 overage in shipping thats a bite out of the return. Also you've been SO informative, Thank you!
Do you offer free shipping or do you use the label from the app. I use Mercari just curious? Also, how much is shipping cost if I use the first box you showed for shoes?
Hi, I am new in this business.. I am confused, can I use USPS show box on poshmark? And for ebay same box for shoe, is it Priority Mail? And how much is shiping cost? Thank you
Great video, great explanation kudos question, where in the seller hub I can find that free coupon? I’ve been selling for almost a year and I just learned from you about it.
Dalton, if shipping cowboy boots across the country that are too expensive to send USPS, how do I send it via UPS Ground? (Cost is $46.00 vs $23.00). And must I alert the buyer on the change?
@DealingWithDalton I used the ebay calculator and saw that FedEx was cheaper, went out, bought one of their boxes, and will print out the label-- anything different in that process? This is my first time having to ship something that large/costly. Thank you so much for getting back to me!
I have been offering USPS Parcel Select Ground on almost all my listings lately, but also offering Priority if they wish. Is there any reason I shouldn't? Usually cheaper for buyer, especially if they live far away. I am in Florida too so many of my sales are further away. Any thoughts?
@Dealing With Dalton True, and I do usually upgrade to Priority if price difference is under $1.00. I get a lot of positive comments about how fast shipping was. Just trying it out. Thanks for the advice!
Yes! This is how I do it except sometimes I use bubble rate or air pillows (which I can get for free) instead of the paper if it gets me under 2 pounds. I am a maniac at getting the cheapest shipping. Almost all of my womens shoes manage to fit in the flat rate padded. P.S. I love the shoe trees!
You have nice advice and knowledge but I barely made it into 6 minutes of the video and the background music is driving me insane. You do you I guess. I won't be back.

Can you make a video on how to store used shoes before selling?
I just had to modify a 1095 for the first time thanks. It doesn't look great but it works with a lot of tape. Next time I'm sure it will look better.
Remember, you don’t need to actually cut the box, more so just putting an indent in the cardboard so it has a line to fold on
EXCELLENT! I only messed one up in practice!
I always include a thank you note with 20% discount card /note off their next purchase on eBay
Can we use the priority mail shoe boxes with calculated shipping on eBay (usps ground advantage)?
