Love your vids. Thanks for posting. I’ve been trying to hunt down a problem with my mk2 sound board. I’m fairly certain it’s the amp. I noticed some electrolyte from the caps so I did a cap kit and some of the pins on the amp looked to need resoldering. It worked for a while with gameplay then the static sound came back and the amp was super hot to touch. Probably worth replacing the amp chip if I can get my hands on a replacement one?
Ok i replaced the caps on my mk2 soundboard the gal the u2 chip.. mine still wont have any sound ?? Could it be A the clock crystal or the balck amplifier by the heatsink?
Great video. My original MK2 soundboard has no sound. I check the 3 items you list to check. No bueno. Are you accepting sound boards to be repaired for your fee? Thx!
Hi Mike! Do you have a spare MK2 sound board for sale? Or do you accept boards for repair? Mine stopped playing sound a couple of weeks ago and I dont have the technical skills to repair it - unfortunately I do not know anyone "around" here that could do it either. I would ofcourse compensate for the work.
I do not at the moment. My apologies. I would love to help but I don't have any spare main boards to test it with. Does the LED light up? Did you verify the U2 sound rom (the top one) is good? Did you reseat the ribbon cable at both ends? Either of those can cause the board to not produce sounds.
Curious how you have sound hooked up on your test rig? Those looked like powered speakers but since the audio board is already amplified do you just have an audio jack hooked to the jamma connector and volume turned down on the speakers? I have been trying to think of how to accomplish this myself and I just don’t want to do damage to the sound board
No, it's just an old Radio Shack Optimus speaker with the Jamma speaker wires running to it from the harness, just like it would be if it was in a cabinet. Just think of the test rig speaker like an actual cabinet speaker.
Criminally underrated videos , awesome!
I remember how killer the DCS sound was coming out of an MK2 cab

Common issue. Replacing the caps or the amp usually fixes it.
