  • In this video I show you how I use my truck and winch to move los and load them onto the Woodland Mills HM 130. I do not have a tractor or other machinery to handle logs, so I had to come up with a way to move logs around and load the mill. I build the mill in front of this tree for this reason. My next video will be on the milling of this log as well as the setup of the Woodland Mills HM 130 including blade install, tracking, tensioning, and blade guide adjustments.

Didn't everyone know that gravel / rocks are good for the saw blade, and also a pair crocs will do wonders when a log falls/ rolls onto ones foot, not very smart dude !!

      Obviously Safety steel toed Crocs...
Nobody would wear regular Crocs rolling logs, that would be just plain stupid.

Human nature. People need something to complain about.

Glad to see not everyone with a mill can also have a loader. Thanks for posting.

So true. This is an older video. When first starting out I didn't have a machine to move logs for me. Sometimes you have to work with what you have. I work hard and save and upgrade as I go.

I'd use a chain, lasts longer when getting drug through the dirt and gravel.

Nice! I love seeing normal guys like me doing stuff how they best can do it with what they've got. Gives me inspiration to be able to do it myself someday! Thx again bro

Thanks for posting! I hate leaving critical comments, but you lost me when you involved the mill as a leverage point. Logs are often heavier than the mill and can cause the base to shift and become out of level.

Thanks for watching. No worries. I understand your concern and it's a valid one. This is an old video. I do things quite differently now. I posted a new sawmill video a week or so ago. Check it out. I hope you like it. Thanks for following along.

I was wondering if anyone pressure washed logs before milling? I've never seen it done in a video before this. Some people remove the bark but if its a green tree that can be very difficult. Also, for people who have a tractor or forklift and can move logs that way, remember that the bark catches dirt and dust blowing in the wind too (while the tree is standing). Pressure washing will provide the best blade life in my estimation. Of course there is the trade-off: time spent pressure washing vs money spent on new blades/sharpening. Nice video! Thanks.

Yes. I keep a pressure washer by my mill and even if the slightest doubt I’ll hit the log with with a pressure spray. It’s cheap insurance if you have one and fortunate enough to also a water supply.

Yes, a rock or dirt embedded in bark will dull a blade real quick.

How is your blade holding up? Have you sharpened it? What have you or would you use to replace it?

Miguel Licona my blades are holding up very good. I use Ripper 37 blades on my Mill now. They work great. Thanks for watching and we all hope you subscribe to the channel and stick around because we have a lot more content coming. Happy New Year

you're bandsaw blade will dull very fast if u keep pulling the logs with the car on gravel road. a forklift would be much better
