As my ears is good , I understand the splendor of her performance well This masterpiece will transcend time , race , nation and space There is something extraordinary in this performance From Tokyo of the Land of the Rising Sun 🇯🇵
Iona copy of this recording, and have loved it since I first heard it close to 30 years ago. I was driving along listening to NPR and this came on, and I got to my destination before the piece finished, and just sat in the car listening to the music wash over me.
The only thing in the score that mildly annoys me is the pointless key signature change at 8:25......like why but a B flat in the key signature if ur not even gonna play it. Other than that.....this is still one the most beautiful violin pieces I've ever heard....hence, one of my favourites.
The greatest 16 minutes in music.
agreed
give some credit to the performance
If perfection is found in strings, this is undoubtedly it.
The chords from the strings at 13:49 to 14:16 bring such somber and finality to the piece!
Thanks for using this excellent recording!
4:36 is just heartbreaking
Beautiful

Sounds like Oriental music from the Far East.
It's because the melody uses the D major pentatonic scale. A common trait in eastern music.
He was known for scouring the English countryside for old folk tales and using them as inspiration.
