    I have wanted to know how to make bows for many years and have had many lessons from friends but to no avail. Yours is the best tutorial I have seen. I have never seen anyone make the last bow but using a glue gun really appeals to me. I will consider myself very lucky if I can master bow #1!

    @irisfamily8854 5 лет назад +6

    Just a quick tip. Tie a " bakers" knot by wrapping the string around twice before pulling tight that way it doesn't slip loose while wrapping again for the second time. That way you don't have to worry about losing all the folds etc before even getting it tied.

    I really appreciate this video. I especially appreciate you showing how to do the "pinch" everyone talks about but never shows. I am new to bow making and really struggle with that. Now I know how to do it properly. Thank you!!

    This is my first comment as a NEW SUB! I found you from a recent video on 11/26. I saw that you had a bow making video and had to come check out your 4 styles.
    My Mom, rest her soul, was a champion bow maker. That’s how I learned! Primarily we freehand the #3 bow, like you said, for a tree topper, outside bows for the pole light outside, to wreathes. Mom loved the red velvet wired ribbon 🎀. She had made a beautiful bow in silver for her tree with tails streaming down “crimped” to make a cascading bow that flowed down and into the tree.
    Luckily, she passed on her bow making skills to me as I make custom wreathes for all seasonal wreathes. The DIY grapevine wreath is my favorite medium and because you DIY’d the wreath and bow, it can be full and as beautiful and unique as a fingerprint of your own aesthetic and style or for someone else’s requested style.
    It is my passion.
    I’ve made over 100 wreathes for friends, family, co-workers, and clients in all colors, shapes and sizes with all mediums. I did not know Dollar Tree had red wired 9’ ribbon! They seem to have so many picks, decorations, flowers, and all kinds of craft items I never knew they carried.
    I’ve learned now to make 2 other style bows. #1 I’ve made before and #3, but your technique is so different and precise since mine are free handed and no cutting of ribbon. Thank you for providing an easier and precise application to your style. I’m saving this tutorial for another way to perfect the craft.
    Looking forward to binging your videos and your new content.
    Today is Thanksgiving 2020 & what better way to spend our “Covid downtime” with productivity in making DIY projects and just in time for Christmas!
    Looking forward to seeing you in your new & old videos and your unique and creative ideas!!! ❤️🎀❤️

    I know this is an older video but it's still a goodie! My tree topper is like the 3rd bow (but mine is Huge!) It's is a red Christmas plaid & I attach 4 various length matching robin's to flow down the front & sides! Love my bow!

    Just found your bow making tutorial (thanks for doing it slowly) in time for Christmas 2022! My hands cramp very badly when doing "tight" work, they tighten into stiff, crazy positions, so the hot glue was a genius idea, Shannon! My thumb and index finger cramp first, so being able to keep my "folds" together and then add the glue was incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for this essential how-to video. :)

    Thank you for this video. I’m can not make a pretty bow but the way u explained it and showed me, I might can just do it. I love you workshop with all those power tools. I love to work with wood, but don’t have many tools or a place to do it so I just sit and watch you. Lol. Everything you do to me is like a master piece. I’m thinking maybe someday I can do those. Love that vinyl machine you have also. I’ll probably never have that though.
