- Can an "unboxing" be cinematic? Is it even an unboxing if it's a very old camera? Its it even a Leica since the internals are all Minolta?

I love my R4. It has been perfectly reliable and a winner with the excellent R lenses. It does distress me to see people shipping cameras with no body cap.
I hit it with some eclipse fluid, and pec pads and it's all good. I do wish there was a body cap involved as well. The R series has got to have the most beautiful mirror box ever by the way.
Shutter mirror slap and film advance sounded very crude. If you have a chance, get the leicaflex, those would give you true Leica experience. And the first Leicaflex is the best out of all.
I managed to get my hands on one briefly but I didn't purchase it because the shutter speends set off some red flags for me. I also own the R6 and the shutter mechanism on it sounds feels and also works differently. Maybe I'll do a vid with both. And yeah the leicaflex is a step above overall.
The shutter on the R4 being electronic is really the issue here, however it still sounds really good compared to most electronically controlled shutters on old SLRs.
May I know of where did you purchase your beautiful Leica R4 and how much did you pay for it? Please!
About $100 not counting shipping. Craigslist and reddit tend to have good prices form time to time. I rarely go to EBay anymore. But as always with old cameras, you buy the seller. Make sure you're buying from a photographer who uses and knows the gear, otherwise it's a gamble.
The R4 a very poor example! Unreliable! Same as Minolta version, but with lousy German electronics! Get higher numbers or better The Minolta X-700!The various cams reqd. for meter, are a nightmare of costs!
Yeah, I mentioned that it's really just a Minolta. The meter in mine is very accurate, and if it goes it won't matter to me. The real magic with the R system in the R lenses. The 50mm 'cron is amazing.
Yes electronics problems on R4. Better buy R5 or RE
