    I went there the week before around 29th August 2017 and had a look .
    Reading the comments ,and having spent all my working life in engineering and costing and physical stuff shifting machinery vehicle movements etc .
    The overall cost for works to accept a second span would probably have been in the order of 15% as all the cost will have been in meetings and permissions and working structure not in materials .
    The crane set up to lift it in and associated closures probably cost more than the fabrication of the span !!

    Such a shame it couldn’t have been double track

    Is this bridge high enough for the upgraded electrification of MML when they actually get as far as Loughborough, i mean, IF they go as far as Loughborough or if they decide to electrify the entire route.

      I believe it is now the standard to leave room for electrification, plus I know the engineer who did the alignment work for the bridge is a big fan of electrification and futureproofing so I don't believe he'd sign off on something that hasn't been properly futureproofed

    Very cool view of the project. Thanks for sharing it :) They have been on about building the bridge since I was volunteering at the GCR about 20 years ago lol! Good to see it getting somewhere, It will certainly be an enjoyable trip when you can go the full 18 miles!
    Cheers, Michael

      Many thanks Michael, I hope to do a few more 'progress' videos of the project as it moves toward completion.

    It is a real short-sighted shame that the GCR could not see their way to making the bridge a double span for double track. The project will involve more disruption in the future and cost more ultimately as a result.

      Why would they, the doubling would end as soon as they reached the Nottingham end and I dont think they intend to re-double the entire section. Please correct me if I am wrong

      I'm they did as much as they could afford. The heritage railways are not made of money.

    *exasperated sigh* They could of at least rebuilt it with space for a second span...

      Hi scot4u, I don't see how it doesn't answer your question as the very first line states "It is illegal to fly a drone on or near the railway."

    • @timberry7238
      @timberry7238 6 лет назад

      the Q was about Railway Terrace, not the railway

    • @davideatterbury
      @davideatterbury  6 лет назад +1

      My bad, apologies, I thought you were asking about the railway itself, not Railway Terrace, Loughborough. Basically, unless you are a qualified drone pilot with a PfCO from the CAA then you should always fly in accordance with the CAA DroneCode... dronesafe.uk/drone-code/ I hope that this helps.
