I’m 37 from the UK. In all my years gaming I’ve never used or heard friends use the term ‘beat/beaten’ the game. Everyone I know has said i’ve ‘completed it’, meaning they’ve just finished the game/story. I always thought ‘beat’ the game was an American way of saying finishing a game. Maybe I’m wrong! 🤷🏼♂️ I’ve just found your channel and subscribed too! 👍 P.s - definitely change your platinums for original releases. Looks better and more sought after 😁
Definitely agree about tank controls. I miss it in a way, I think the jankiness of it makes enemy encounters more anxiety inducing, which works so well for survival horror.
You are right that video game adaptations are becoming more common and are also effecting the price in the gaming market. ITs funny till a few years ago, whenever a game adaptation was announced we usally think 99% it will be bad and a faliure. The main reason i think that is no longer the case, has probably to do with the fact that people who grew up playing these games are now in a position to make them as before it was just a bunch of old corporate heads who never played and want to capitalize on a popular brand. We have a few more adaptations coming including the Bioshock and Borderlands movie. A New Tomb Raider Series. Twisted Metal s2 and more. so grab while you can.
Beating a game or completing a game is when the credits roll it has nothing to do with the trophy list. Trophy list are extra things you can do if you want. Same with open world games it's over when the story is over but if you want to do all the extra stuff in the world that's up to you. Trophy list wasn't even a thing way back in the day (been gaming 35 years) it's just something extra that's it.
The Trophies and completionism i always saw them more as an incentive to replay the game with a different focus rather than a necessary job. it gives you an excuse to keep a game in your inventory and play it again later down the road and still provide interest.
Completely agree with your view on 100%ing games. There are definitely some odd people out there that take platinum trophies too far. I'm 29 and a chef, I work 55+ hours a week sometimes, I don't have time to platinum every game I play 😂
To me beating a games story mode is enough, some games like open world games such as Just Cause 1 - 3, GTA games, Witcher etc I like to explore a bit and do side missions just for fun...but that's it...I don't hunt for trophies or achievements...that takes the fun out of a game for me...I'm there for the story...not to see on which difficulty I can beat a game or how fast I can get through it
Hi Cayle . Recently just started collecting games. Do you collect a franchise on one console where possible or for example if it’s on both 360 and Xbox one which would you buy ?
Hard disagree on Joel being portrayed as incapable, numerous examples throughout that run counter to it - and not just in the final episode. Actually adding some emotional vulnerability though on top was a great addition. I’m honestly dreading TLOU2, the discourse from the game release all over again.
Ive only completed two games in my life, resident evil 5 and bloodborne. Just two games that I have replayed countless times so it felt meaningful to get the platinum. After 100%ing resident evil 5 I dont think I'll ever wnat to play that game again ahaha some of these trophies were a pain.
I sometimes also can't find really cheap games at GameStop, even thought they can't be rear because than they wouldn't cost 5$. I actually think they are hard to finde, because game-stores that are selling used games are offering such little money, that people aren't trading them in.
Am 43 and yes with a regular job, house and all... Can only spare few hours a week for gaming. Takes me months sometimes to finish off a game.. "beaten" 😂... Keep it up gamer Cayle 😊
I always try to "beat" the games I play, but I rarely ever "complete" them cause half the time to 100% a game is incredibly long or boring, and I just can not be bothered. Last couple games I "completed" was Hogwarts Legacy and MX vs ATV Legends when I got the Platinum trophies. Very easy Platinums but very boring, literally just collectables, nearly fell asleep going round the map picking up shit lmao
I just checked the trophy unlock thing out using watchdogs legion and it's only got about a 10% for the final mission which is far less than the 78% who beat the prologue 😂
Well that game is on PS Plus so a lot of people turn on the game to try and turn it off after 10 mins and never play it again. Thus decreasing the overall percentage of all trophies. A good example would be to check a recent game that released that was never in a subscription service.
@doctorsilva1345 issue is I don't buy new games anymore I just wait till they go on sale because unless its somthing I'm hyped for I don't really care for it 😭
I'm the same age, 26.. wild people saying you not a gamer.. I plat some games but I mainly just beat a game and move on😅 my most rare is my driver san francisco collectors edition on ps3.. I haven't seen Forbidden Siren or God hand, I only recently heard of God hand
Great elaboration on the comment on not beating games until you’ve gotten 100%. I guess it’s mostly just a provocation from the author, because it’s completely unreasonable. Who says you need to limit yourself to the developer’s choice of things that count up to the completion percentage in games that have it? There’s always something that you can do that’s not in the requirements. Have you actually entered every house, picked up every item, stood in every spot, loaded every texture, done a playthrough for every possible choice…? “100% completion” can probably be defined in millions of ways and ironically you’d never actually finish a game if you really wanted to “be a real gamer”.
When you say you try not to get games, you're never gonna play. That sounds good in theory. But realistically I feel like as a collector there are probably 2/3 of our collection. we will probably never play again. We just don't have time in our daily lives to go back to them. We think we will play them again because we like them, but we never actually will and it just takes up space.
Who want's to see more Q&A video's like this?
Yeah these are amazing
I'm grateful to you for showing me your VIDEOS you are a very honest person

I'm 39 from the UK and I say beat to mean credits and completed means 100%

I love haunting ground, project zero, obscure, forbidden siren great era for survival horror for the PS2 times 😎

Congrats on 9k
Re-fallout 4 I bought it about a month before the show came out and it was £2 in CEX and the week after the show it had already gone up to £8

I've only 100% 3 games in my life and I'm 40 next month 😂
With the closing of the Xbox 360 marketplace I think even the games that are considered bad will be going up in price

In my case I’d say I’ve already played at least 80% of the games I own😅
@cayletalks Yeah, a
I'm sure youve played them, but i'm talking about replaying them again and again
Borderlands is cheap as hell in cex 1.50 at moment I brought 10 copies the movie gone be out in august just like fallout I think u see price rise
Bro you got to play hollow knight, it’s the greatest game ever and it’s also hard, imo it’s harder than most souls games and it’s soulslike.
It’s a fantastic game 😊
Have you ever played Marvel Ultimate alliance?
I'm only buying xbox 360 video games that I want to play
Cayle, what's your PSN/Gamertag?
