2:03 the most important part about ct mid anchor is knowing where on the wall to bank your smoke, nade and molly. Smoke should be as deep as possible, so at the left end of the brick wall. This gives you line of sight at the window overlooking water and t stairs. If you throw a smoke too shallow, you take that angle away from yourself and any possible aggression play from window while your smoke is up. Nade is aimed above the blue arch so it bounces towards deep left mid. Molly is aimed at the near right corner of the brick wall so it lands behind the smoke. There are also dozens of other nades that can be thrown from ct mid without exposing onself to the enemy. Flashing through the bridge window by banking it off the same right side wall when you're in cubby. To allow your ebox player to peek water. Similar to the flash niko right clicks over the wall. And even a nade from cubby thrown over the top of the right wall and banking off a wall behind it that hits the right side T mid enemy if they're posted or boosted over the smoke.

There is one thing I'd like to point out to you and anyone who is interested, which is kind of a default play on Anubis, but I haven't seen pienix (or in this case NiKo) cover it: Usually, the CTs start by smoking somewhere in the middle of the bridge and the Ts start by smoking house. From there, it's still pretty safe as a CT to hold your own smoke from cubby without exposing yourself to enemy spam through smoke. Now, if the Ts want to take mid control, they usually initiate this by throwing a molly into cubby, and that's where my little tip comes in: Since you can't hold your own smoke anymore without being in the open, as soon as you see the T's molly coming in, you should throw your incendiary infront of your smoke, so in the space between your smoke and house/cubby to prevent the Ts from pushing through your smoke (or punishing them for doing so). It's a basically a trade of utility, but I often see my opponents not respecting this counterplay and getting caught offguard by it and taking heavy damage / getting themselves killed. If you hear them burning, you can also spam the smoke in house or move into the smoke in house and spam. I hope that helps a bit. :)
Im curious in the first play why he's so unconcerned with a second player on the right. Maybe it's different in lvl 10 but I feel like it's not unusual for 3 people to stack up on mid tside
Different in high level play. Unless it's a mid call they're not going to dedicate more than 2 players to mid. When he pops the smoke and sees nobody else, he feels safe to scale and the second guy that comes in probably wasn't even playing mid, he came from around stairs after the mid player died.
