This is the video I've been waiting for. Growing up in a reloaders and hunters family, it was standard practice to watch my dad go through the process of getting the copper out. However, being 40 years old with my own guns now I have NEVER removed copper from any of my guns. Most of them have a few hundred rounds through them, and it doesn't seem that there's any reason to take that copper out using the same principles you laid out here. I guess my question would be, does copper ever build to a point that it makes the gun "dangerous " or all of a sudden less accurate? What would one look for, pressure signs? Is anyone " qualified" enough here to answer that? I have read countless forums and seems to always be a can of worms controversial topic where some strip a barrel, some remove some copper every so often and some never do it. All claim thier results are great for thier rifles and accuracy. I never say never, but I will likely not clean copper out of my barrels unless I am informed from a reputable source that is indeed neccessary at times. Love your videos and this series.
I occasionally clean copper fouling out. My Sako manual says to periodically clean it out to prevent corrosion. I use a non-ammonia based solvent. Pro Shot. Just take a look at the barrel and clean it out once it builds up.
Sir ? Every seen the end of your barrel turn green, ever ran a dry clean patch down it n see green on it? Thats the copper fouling tarnishing for lack of a better word. That can attack the steel of the barrel n lead to rust pits. Which can lead to accuracy issues. I clean mine as soon as possible after n sometimes during season of copper. I find normally dont need but 1 fouling shot for accuracy to settle . I also clean after a range session n have during one Everyone has to figure that out for them n there rifle..
Yeppie. N between different Monolithics as there not pure copper.. My experience shows to start Monolithics on a clean barrel. N Clean between brand A,B,D etc etc. Going back to Jacketed bullets on top of Monolithics Dosent seem to matter. Others n yourself my find different.
It’s definitely something you should do. My 300 win was shooting terribly and someone suggested that I clean the copper out. It made a huge difference

Love these videos Randy. Thank you for all you and your team do. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
There is also some controversy around switching between monolithic copper bullets and copper clad bullets and how that effects accuracy.

Its not really a controversy, its an acknowledged fact by the bullet manufacturers like Barnes
Ooh…I need some carbon bullets.
Made a big difference in my 257wby that shoots monolith coppers… but good holy does that stuff stink. Like nothing other!
Not needed
