I remember singing this song alongside others for my auntie’s funeral, since this was the song we learned from her. it was safe to say that many of us were (very) emotional preforming this, without her by our side, but we could very much feel her spirit that day with us. i hope your proud of us auntie inga, everyone misses you down here, but we all know we’ll be reunited once again someday🤍

Emotion and passion transcends language barriers and I always felt this song was about something beautiful. I was blessed enough to find a translation of the lyrics today. It is a song giving praise to their parents for raising them right, making them who they are today and encouraging youth to listen to their parents and love them because they won't be around forever. I encourage you to google the translation and listen along. This song has so much more meaning to me now.
Islanders always have a good ear for music because we all exposed to it from day one through our cultures and Religion. When it come to singing we all like to harmonise that's because we used to it already from family meetings and church. Many of our friends have tried in the business fail and give up because of the fact that we all very good as backup singers but very few of us can be a lead vocal. It was fun on the first time but the audience get tired of harmonise... We feel lonely if we try to sing on our own and we look for back up to complete what is missing from the song. We need to come out of that habit and able to sing an entire song without looking for someone to back you up. So we need to be strong and find your own voice look for the lead vocalist and start to take charge on stage. The way you stand, walk, talk, sing, move anything you do need to command your audience to follow you and maybe we might have a chance to break out like some of our friends that have crossed it..good luck..
