i love watching the rangers play. they are a great team and have a very skilled and underrated captain. They also make some good shields that would have link jelous lol
One play not included was Jacob Josefson beautiful set-up to Stephen Gionta. Toe-dragged around a Caps Dman and was able to dish the puck to Gionta while falling. Just as good, if not better than the Nash pass while on the ice.
From the NHL website: "It should be noted that while the position of the player’s skates is what determines whether a player is “off-side,” nevertheless the question of an “off-side” never arises until the puck has completely crossed the leading edge of the blueline at which time the decision is to be made." So if both feet are in the zone and the puck is on the line, as soon as the puck goes in you are offside. Your wording is right if the play entered the zone onside to start with though.
Man, Thomas Vanek got snubbed hard with this countdown. His 3rd goal for a hat trick against the Bruins, his no look pass while falling down to Ennis, his goal from a no look between the legs pass from Pominville, he had a couple others that were beauts as well. Not saying they all should be on there, but he should be represented SOMEWHERE. His goals/plays were certainly nicer than Foligno's... (and Foligno is one of my favorite Sabres too)
that sedin play where he passes it to the corner should have been number one. just the face the could play the angle like that and the timing i just i don't even know it was sick
I agree that Datsyuk's goal was insane at #2, but he actually put himself offside when he kicked the puck off of his skate before picking it up and roofing it. Watch the replay at 21:30. Both of his skates are clearly over the line before the puck is.
Datsyuk: 4 Lady Byngs, 3. Frank J Selke, 1 NHL Plus/Minus Award Crosby: 1 Art Ross, 2 Ted Lindsay ( 1 of them in 2013 which means he was voted best player by players this year), 1 Hart, 1 Rocket Richard, and he would have won more if it wasn't for injuries. But Crosby has many years ahead of him while Datsyuk has a couple seasons left. It's safe to say that Datsyuk is better defensively but Crosby is the better forward.
regular season. Only covered 10 playoff highlights (mostly goals) before getting into the top 10 of the 50. They kind of made that clear from the outset. Besides, those goals weren't highlight reel in terms of skill - they were just extremely timely.
I'm talking about the much more representative NHLPA poll. The truest way to compare players, though, is with advanced metrics, and Datsyuk blows everyone out of the water.
After the year the hawks had, I wasn't even sure anyone scored on them. I just assumed the hawks spotted everyone a lead when they wanted to challenge themselves.
No there was a separate list of top playoff goals before the top 10 regular season goals. They went a little out of order there so I see how you got confused.
Also, what I mean by 'I find that fishy', is because I've seen many players having been called offside in a similar situation. What I meant to say more clearly is that there seems to be inconsistency within the call across multiple instances, which is why it seems to be referee related.
Crosby isn't lazy, he's one of the hardest workers out there. You could make an argument that Datsyuk is better defensively, but you can't honestly call Crosby lazy.
Not according to NHL players, who, in the players poll, routinely select Datsyuk as the best in just about every category he's eligible for. See; Smartest Player, Most Difficult Forward To Play Against, Most Difficult To Take The Puck From, etc.
If you're talking about 2012 then Crosby was voted #1 by players. Datsyuk was 2nd. I can't post links so just go on the hockey news and search for best player voted by players.
That's what us Bruins fans thought too...rule says puck has to be 'seen' to fully cross the line. Wonder what would happen if puck in glove, glove off hand in net...?
Callahan is underrated. He is amazing! Prob one of the only players in the NHL that gives it 200% every single night. No one can deny that. When the rangers give up, he keeps them in the game. He is def in the top 3 captains in the game. It isn't all about scoring cause if it was Crosby would beat him but Crosby is overrated. He's a baby. Callahan plays every inch of that ice well.
I do not find that Datsuk has the same knack for scoring that Crosby has, but I would say that Datsuk is probably a better two way player. It is all how you look at it.
The rule actually says that if you enter the zone in control of the puck then even if your feet are ahead of the puck you are onside. It's odd how the rules change and have nuances like that.
i would expect nothing less than datsyuk having the top 2 goals, he is the best hockey player ive ever seen
Pavel gets number one and two .. Great job magic man :-) those were great thanks for the memories good luck this year
it takes spectacular plays to beat spectacular goalies
It makes me proud to be a Detroit fan when I see Datsyuk has the top 2 plays of 2013
I guess Paajarvi's goal was so good it made two spots in the countdown.
i love watching the rangers play. they are a great team and have a very skilled and underrated captain. They also make some good shields that would have link jelous lol
Yes. their just so baffled by some incredible plays.
paajarvis goal is so nice it made it on twice
Paajarvi's goal was that good they put it in twice!
Ultimately, it depends what you look for in a player. They are both spectacular.
The Blackhawks passing is insane!
"Shave my face with a rusty razor" LOL best call ever
JVR's two goals, amazing.
on #20 you have to give props to Oshie for that backchecking. He almost stopped an empty netter from Zetterberg
"shave my face with a rusty razor" and "peanut butter jelly time"
The Oilers all have good hand-eye coordination lol
One play not included was Jacob Josefson beautiful set-up to Stephen Gionta. Toe-dragged around a Caps Dman and was able to dish the puck to Gionta while falling. Just as good, if not better than the Nash pass while on the ice.
Oh my God that Ovechkin move...
I love Hardings reaction at #4 of the playoff list. There was absolutely nothing he could do.
are you kidding me?! the second time they showed it, it was easily three times as good as the first time
From the NHL website: "It should be noted that while the position of the player’s skates is what determines whether a player is “off-side,” nevertheless the question of an “off-side” never arises until the puck has completely crossed the leading edge of the blueline at which time the decision is to be made." I was hoping John Tavares's shootout goal against Ottawa would've been on there
How were the Datsyuk lasers not included in the playoff top 10? 1 against the ducks and 1 against the Blackhawks. Sick snipes.
Why is Magnus Paajarvi on this list twice with the same goal?
Man, Thomas Vanek got snubbed hard with this countdown. His 3rd goal for a hat trick against the Bruins, his no look pass while falling down to Ennis, his goal from a no look between the legs pass from Pominville, he had a couple others that were beauts as well. His goals/plays were certainly nicer than Foligno's... (and Foligno is one of my favorite Sabres too)
gotta love how bryzgalov got dangled so many times
#2 was offside. Was nice to see CoHo get #3 though. That goal was magical.
lol announcer voice-crack during #20
And Edmonton goal from Paajarvi was in there TWO times. #38 and in top 10
the ballerina too
that sedin play where he passes it to the corner should have been number one. just the face the could play the angle like that and the timing i just i don't even know it was sick
2013 was a great year! Here's some proof.
Actually this is TSN, ESPN's Canadian station, which covers hockey more than most sports (except the CFL).
2:52 Nice to see Mike Smith and the Coyotes get some love, finally.
You've gotta love Foligno's goal at 28
18:49 A SENSATIONAL FINISH
1300 Word essay due? Naa I'll watch this instead
S-MSniper dldd
I agree that Datsyuk's goal was insane at #2, but he actually put himself offside when he kicked the puck off of his skate before picking it up and roofing it. Watch the replay at 21:30. Both of his skates are clearly over the line before the puck is.
Tarasenko's second goal in his first game should easily make the top 10.
"Peanut-butter Jelly time!" wow just wow of all the things he could have said...
The same goal by Paajarvi is #38 and # 6 :D
Datsyuk: 4 Lady Byngs, 3. Frank J Selke, 1 NHL Plus/Minus Award
Crosby: 1 Art Ross, 2 Ted Lindsay ( 1 of them in 2013 which means he was voted best player by players this year), 1 Hart, 1 Rocket Richard, and he would have won more if it wasn't for injuries. this might as well have been titled "Top 50 Bruins and Blackhawks Plays"
I'm a sharks fan. But I'm sure niemi should have been on the list he made amazing saves this year
Datsyuk is just amazing best hockey player out there!
regular season. Only covered 10 playoff highlights (mostly goals) before getting into the top 10 of the 50. They kind of made that clear from the outset. Besides, those goals weren't highlight reel in terms of skill - they were just extremely timely.

10:51 voice crack of the year! LOLOLOL
The Kane spin and backhand top shelf was the most impressive play of the year in my opinion.
Well it's not very impressive when you do it in a blowout on a crappy backup goalie and a rookie d-man.
Lundqvist's save confused the light guy lol
Did anyone notice that Paajarvi's goal was shown twice? The same goal is shown at number 38 and number 6.
I feel like every year you see a highlight where Pierre McGuire says that the play will be on every highlight reel.
No Tarasenko dangle on the red wings? bummer
Lots of Hawks Highlights!!! :D
can't believe Reimer's full splits save against Bergeron didn't make the top 10 playoff plays
cheers for this.
Kanes backhander should be higher on that list :/
Since May 2013, The NHL Needs Seattle and Wants Las Vegas
Datsyuk has amazing puck control. Whenever he touches the puck he pulls off some crazy ass shit that I can't even begin to understand
Datsyuk's backhander against the ducks in playoffs?
After the year the hawks had, I wasn't even sure anyone scored on them. I just assumed the hawks spotted everyone a lead when they wanted to challenge themselves.
pretty easy to tell which teams fans vote more. Getzlaf's short handed goal vs Detroit should have been in the playoff goals.
I gotta say the Kane spinorama-goal was pretty damn sweet.
Glad Hemsky got some recognition. So underrated. Especially that goal
The only time my team was on the list was when we were getting scored on..... Flyers
The Canucks, Maple Leafs & Lightning all have the same goal horn so it's like #49-47 all take place in the same arena lol
i saw a whole lot more against the flyers
lunquvists glove was inside the net with the puck when krejci shot it
No there was a separate list of top playoff goals before the top 10 regular season goals. They went a little out of order there so I see how you got confused.
I wish America's Sport Center was like this...
Paajarvi: Number 30 something and number 6 for the same goal lol
all goals are greaT
Also, what I mean by 'I find that fishy', is because I've seen many players having been called offside in a similar situation. What I meant to say more clearly is that there seems to be inconsistency within the call across multiple instances, which is why it seems to be referee related.
good choice for #1, he literally beat everyone on the ice
how is there not 1 play from Thomas Vaneks two 5 point games on here
I also like how Datsyuk started off that play with a hit.
the #4 save is the greatest of all time
Crosby isn't lazy, he's one of the hardest workers out there. You could make an argument that Datsyuk is better defensively, but you can't honestly call Crosby lazy.
NHL rocks pavel dastuyk has sick moves
9:20 Shave my face with a rusty razor LOL
LOL "Shave my face with a rusty razor!" XD LOL
Not according to NHL players, who, in the players poll, routinely select Datsyuk as the best in just about every category he's eligible for. See; Smartest Player, Most Difficult Forward To Play Against, Most Difficult To Take The Puck From, etc.
That;s impossible to hate him. He has such great sportsmanship. You must just be mad that he embarrasses your team
Paajarvi is so good hes in the top 50 twice
Because Datsyuk is amazing.
Why aren't the last seconds of the 2013 Satnley Cup Finals on there?
14:43 it sounds like he says "Thats the shit were used to seeing." hahah
how are #22 and #21 so high?
he was talking about the top 10 playoff plays part
The hendrick lundquist save at 10 sec. it's a goal and not (ONE OF THE SAVES OF THE YEAR)..
Last time i checked Grabner was playing for the New York Islanders.
If you're talking about 2012 then Crosby was voted #1 by players. Datsyuk was 2nd. I can't post links so just go on the hockey news and search for best player voted by players.
Man I remember watching datsyuk #2 live on TV I dropped my pizza
That's what us Bruins fans thought too...rule says puck has to be 'seen' to fully cross the line. Wonder what would happen if puck in glove, glove off hand in net...?
basically the pens bruins and Patrick kane
Wait a minute, wasn't that Paajarvi goal on there twice?
Callahan is underrated. He is amazing! Prob one of the only players in the NHL that gives it 200% every single night. No one can deny that. When the rangers give up, he keeps them in the game. He is def in the top 3 captains in the game. It isn't all about scoring cause if it was Crosby would beat him but Crosby is overrated. He's a baby. Callahan plays every inch of that ice well.
Is it just me or Paarjarvi's goal is there twice?
I do not find that Datsuk has the same knack for scoring that Crosby has, but I would say that Datsuk is probably a better two way player. It is all how you look at it.
they only thing funnier than it being on here twice is the fact that its so separated, how could they rate it 38 and 6...
So...
Crosby calls Kunitz "Kunni" oh my gawd xD
The rule actually says that if you enter the zone in control of the puck then even if your feet are ahead of the puck you are onside. It's odd how the rules change and have nuances like that.
im surprised that boston's goal to tie it up in game 7 against Toronto isn't here
