A tip for someone boondocking with a shower. Keep a dish pan on the floor to catch excess shower water and use it to flush your toilet.
For cleaning produce save the root veggies for last as they will be the dirtiest
Dawn Powerwash was a game changer for me. Spray, wipe, slight rinse.
You know you can make your own, save the power wash bottle, RUclips the recipe , alcohol, water and dawn
Makes a great spider killer too!
My husband is a kidney transplant patient. He has zero immune system. Before he eats any fruit or vege, I microwave them for 20 seconds to kill any germs. The time is not long enough to get food soggy, just kill the grems. Bagged salad, just open to vent & microwave. Strawberries, blackberries, apples. Every friut or vege that we eat raw must be microwaved. This helps save water, too. Great video!
You are destroying more than germs.
A microwave changes the molecular structure of liquids & zaps away all nutrients.
Look into Colloidal Silver . . . . .
Antibiotic
Antifungal
Antibacterial
Antimicrobial
You can make & use it for disinfecting, wound care, eye wash, etc., for pennies a gallon
Take it orally as a preventative &/or remedy.
💞~👵
In addition to your techniques, when we're boondocking we keep a small plastic bowl in the bathroom sink. When we wash our hands we capture the handwashing water in this bowl. Then dump it in the toilat to flush.
I do my dishes slightly differently. I do the same as far as the wash water for one becomes the wash water for the next, etc. But I keep the wash water and rinse water separately. The used in tiers like you rinse water becomes my next wash water. Enjoy your journey. ☺️
That's almost exactly how I do the dishes.
We're so smart and economical.
This is a very informative video. Thank you for all of the information. The only thing I do different because I'm a nomad with no tanks I carry my own water. I usually only have about 10 to 12 gallons with me so I have learned to use vodka in a spray bottle. Works great and because I don't drink it it lasts me a long time and there's no smell and it works really well specially on stainless steel. I can't stand the smell of vinegar so I opted for vodka and it works really well in a spray bottle
Robin, love your dishwasher system. So logical and conservative. I try to use very little at home too.
Another tip: eat from a Tupperware bowl and just put it back in the refrigerator with your next meal inside it, so you don’t have to wash the dish at all.
that dishwashing technique is genius
I buy a bag of lemons, juice them and strain/pour into a quart spray bottle. Lemon juice works the same as baking soda only better, easier clean up, smells great and lifts baked on crud so well. I clean my toilets, everything with it. I can’t breathe in any chemicals now I just use dawn and lemon juice. You can use it on your wood too for dusting
I use lemon rather than vinegar, only because I don’t like the smell of vinegar. Both work great. Thanks for the video.
You are a smart, beautiful lady! Thank you so much! My van is currently being built out for full time living so these tips will help a lot!
growing up with a family from ww2 we learned how to save water doing this even living in a bricks @ sticks wash least dirty first thats called having respect for not wasting
I use a mortar pan. I originally bought it for a sled for my backpack. I still use it for this purpose. Now I use the pan. It's big enough to sand in or sit. I can soak my feet to keep my feet healthy and. Bath in or shower in. Multi functional and it's heavy duty plastic. It's light and I can store things in it too. Slide it under my bed or throw it on top somewhere.
Watching from my dry cabin
We live in N central CA, S of Silicon Vly & are always in H2O saving mode. I've always used your tip about pouring the washing soapy water from smallest to largest dishes. & now I'm going to add your method for cleaning crusty cooked on food stuck in pan bottoms. That's definitely a water saving winner for our conservation efforts in our stix & brixs home. When we RV we also reuse as much water as possible too, like for toilet flushing. At home, flushing is for #2 only while #1 mellows. It's amazing how much water people can save if they just stop & think about it. TFS all your tips - & great reminders on ways to save our planet & our water resources.❤
Wow this is a fantastic video! A lot in here I did not know, and problems that you have solved are the same problems that I have had, and didn’t know how to solve!! Thank you so much!
Weak acetic acid in vinegar reacts with baking soda's sodium bicarbonate to create carbon dioxide gas, which causes the mixture to foam. This reaction can lift stains and cut through grease, making it useful for cleaning silverware and toilet bowls.
I do my dishes the same way even when home in our house.
Morning!
Me too
Another great one! I use the compressed towels you turned me onto so many years ago. I love them & they help us save water. You rock on 2 weeks with that tiny tank.
I use one of those garden pump bottles that's a half gallon and I have all my dirty dishes in a tub I put a little dish soap in there and then I spray the dishes and rinse the dishes and it all goes in the tub and I use about a half gallon or less to do all my dishes including pots and pans.
Great idea!
I have a class B fan only 18 feet long the cassette toilet was a disaster if you asked me however after watching your first ogo toilet video -I purchased mine via your link and it has been a game changer for me no black tank dumping at all anymore you can go a lot longer it’s just been a game changer and I love it! Thank you for sharing that information on that video that day I also feel that I can do way way longer using the other because it doesn’t use any water and then again you don’t have to dump!
I do the same thing with wash water into the toilet. I also will pour extra liquid like coffee of tea in the black tank since it doesn't fill as fast as the gray tank.
I have 100 gallons in my Class A, and love taking the RV boondocking.
I like the burn bag, unfortunatley Arizona usually has a burn ban during the summer months. I do like the stacking the dirty dishes.
I wash my dishes like that at home
Thanks for all the water saving tips.
Great tips Robin> Have a great week.
Turn off your water heater! Showers are way shorter if the water is cold. I use a pump up sprayer shower. If i preheat water I find I use 2x as much.
Luv this video! And your fans/followers! The information included in both the vid & the comments is amazing! 🥰
Great tips... as always ❤
Very good info. Yes, having lived aboard a sailboat in the middle of nowhere for many years these are tricks that I did also. We sometimes had to be 1000%self sufficient for months. Zero outside support of any kind. 😊And I want to go to composing toilet. Will check out your unit. They are actually pretty easy to make if funds are an issue.
Great tips Robin! Thanks ☺️🙌
Good ideas for use of water consumption! ❤
Good morning. Have a great day!
Love it great videos Robin thank you
So helpful! You are rockin' it, girl. I love to live vicariously through you.
Nice to see you. Thanks for another video.
Once again another great video from Rockin' Robin!!✌🐢
All of these tips are excellent, Robin! Thank you for sharing them!
Good tips for camping and home.
Great tips!! Thank you!
Great VIDEO!!!
HEY!! You should blur out your license plate in your footage. I know that's a pain, but your channel has blown up and you need to protect yourself online as much as you do on the road. LOVE YOU xoxo 🤩
It takes a while to break the old 'house' skills to learning how to be more water conservative, thanks for sharing your experience.
You are so right. I have been cooking and cleaning up RV style while at home, to be well practiced at it for when we go out on a voyage.
Great video!
Thank you. This was helpful.
Great tips!
Great tips thank you!!!!!
Very helpful
I have a tiny Airbnb I rent out. It has 40 gallons inside and 50 gallons outside for the outdoor shower. And I have an Ogo. Started with the airhead but for my guests ease and myself, I went to the Ogo. No regrets.
Nice hacks and tips, for your burnt in/on pots you might try just water but on the burner, and scraping gently with a metal or wooden spatula. I believe they call it deglazing.
Great video 👍 I learned a lot 👍
Awesome! Thank you!😊
Great tips. I hope to be out there in the near future.
Anyone ever tell you, you look like Joan Cusack. btw that is a great dish washing tip. I have been trying to conserve water and that looks like a great way to do it.
Thanks!
Great tips 👍🏻. 🐾🙏🏻✌🏻
I ❤️ your little airstream
Love this,clever lady❤
Great video Robin! Even living in sticks n bricks your tips are very helpful. Thank you. 👍🏻💪🏻♥️
Aloha from Pahoa, Hawai'i.
Your videos are fun and informative. Keep on truckin', Mahalo🤙🏼
Good tips.
Thanks I learned a new strategy to try even tho I'm not in an rv.
Do you buy drinking water? Hubby and I drink coffee, tea and water during the day. I figured out we use 1 gallon a day.
Good to know.😊😊
I love my OGO toilet
I have celiac disease, crosscontamination, and washing is the biggest challenge.
Thank you dear
That has been my worst nightmare about how to use water. Thank you - that really helped.
I use a flow limiter on my faucet. Saves a lot of water.
😮very interesting
Good morning from California
Being free that's for me
THIS 💜💜💜
I use Dawn Powerwash for my crusty pans.
Robin, this is excellent to help with conserving water. My husband and I got a van last year and went on the road for 75 days worked and conserving water on the way. How do you store drinking water?
Current fire restrictions dont allow fire where I'm at or I would be burning too. Someone already commented, Dawn power wash, and I rinse with my spray bottle of vinegar. Been washing that way for over a year, no problems.
Answered my question. I’ve been wondering if you were still liking the OGO toilet. I am thinking of it for my tiny home.
Bar Keeper’s Friend!!!!!!!!
Curious how you put out your fire each day?
As someone who lives in their rv, do you drink the water in your freshwater tank? How do you make sure you don’t get sick? Is an in-line filter enough?
I wash dishes similarly but water ends up in a dishpan for hand washing
I would have jugs of drinking water...im always worried boondockers dont keep hydrated.. The aluminum foil can be wiped scrunched into a ball and put in recycle...fyi
Why not carry more water with you to pump into your tanks when empty?
I have a question about the dishwashing I've watched some other RUclipsrs and they claim that when they do their dishes they use like the spray bottle of vinegar water and wipe the utensil out and of the forks and whatnot spray them and wipe them off and they're done now is that true or should they still be using a little bit of soapy water to wash the dishes yet again?. What's your answer on this.
❤❤😊
I just watched your OGO video from a yr ago. Do you still think it was worth it? Any issues?
After Boondocking out in Quartsite for five winters, I am getting better and better at perfecting conservation of water and tanks
Yeah I think I’ll choose a bigger rv 😬
I don’t know what’s wrong with me but I’m not following the produce washing process. I just see swishing in a bowl of water then hearing a reference to rinsing in a colander. I don’t get where the food grade hydrogen peroxide is used. I’ve watched 6 times and I’m just stumped. Would someone be willing to recap the steps? Thanks in advance!
👍👍👍👍👍👍
I kind of do the same thing with my dishes but didn't think about the small-to-large process 😊
I find paper plates wasteful both in resources and cost.
Your dishwashing is ok but as a British person, we fill a bowl with water and dish soap then wash from cleanest (glassware) to dirtiest. One bowl usually does all and the water is saved for the toilet which is a great suggestion.
Burn paper plates in fire is a great idea

With all due respect, I don't get using vinegar and baking soda together. Vinegar is acetic acid. Baking soda is sodium acetate, a base. When an acid and base combine they neutralize each other. In this case you are left with plain water, salt and CO2 gas. It's fun to watch the fizz but it doesn't actually do anything toward cleaning that using one or the other separately wouldn't do better. Yes, it's a "hack" that's all over the internet, but that doesn't make it true. Why not do an experiment video on this and really help your viewers?
Yup!
Agree. I am a former chemist and the internet is full of this myth.
That probably why she still washes it with the rest of her dishes at the end of the day.
But it's common knowledge that Vinegar is a good cleaner. And she is using the baking soda to scrub off the burnt on food. So in this case, the use of both, for two different reasons, is common sense. When I used to work at a restaurant, we'd use ice cubes and salt to remove burnt coffee from the coffee pots. That doesn't mean ice cubes and salt are good for cleaning in general!
@@user-pz9rk5im4i yes, either is a very good cleaner alone, but when you put both together then the result is a non-cleaner, they cancel each other out. The urban myth is to use them together, which does not work
You are only concerned about water conservation in your RV not in life. Making a paper plate takes 8 gallons of fresh water. The plates may also contain: BPA, bioplastic or petroleum plastic. Nice stuff to burn & leave in the soil. Conserving water extends further than your little RV life. Simple solution: Put your dirty plates in the fridge to re-use until you wash the dishes. Please consider the entire global environment & ecosystems.
Well try and find some plates that contain those chemicals in it and after burning them take a couple of deep breaths and test it? That would be a great video! Don’t forget to hit record!
Thanks!
