As a mechanic and custom car builder your show was the most realistic. I admire the fact that you put the car first and pull no sugar-coated punches. Looking forward to seeing more from you and your crew. Thanks Dan!
Most realistic? Are you kidding? I respect the quality of work coming out of this shop, but the show itself was made for drama nonsense. Drove me nuts to the point I couldn't watch the show.
I find it hilarious that they ignore your interview at SEMA when a few of you were on stage and were asked about your plans for the next season. You explained that you had a lot of cars to do and that the demands on your time made it difficult for you to dedicate to your customers, your business and your family. I admired your blunt honesty on stage in front of an audience, and not giving a flip about how others felt about your choices. I tip my hat to you, your family and tge crew at Fantom Works.
I can't tell you how much I miss Fantomworks. I've watched and rewatched every episode more times than I can count. I'll definitely be watching for the new show!!
My late wife who was a car nut and car encyclopaedia. She never missed an episode and sais that your show was in her opinion the most realistic (within some limits which are acceptable in all shows of the genre) car programme on tv .... so through me from her, my sincere thanks for every episode..
I appreciate Dan’s comments and honesty. Being a small business owner myself, I know the stress of running a business and that employees sometimes have false notions as to what it cost to run a business, pay bills, and keep things running when the cash flow is slow or depleted. The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.
Dan, 1st and foremost big thank you to you for your service to our great nation. I was a huge fan of the show from the start. Sorry about your father’s passing but more so that you were not able to spend his last hours with him. Glad to see you survived the show and are still out there restoring and building and doing what you love to do. Will be watching for the upcoming show. Best of luck in all of your endeavors!
Finally, a reality show thats actually REAL!!! No fake drama,no B>S. ,and no phony people doing stupid shiot for so called Entertainment Purposes!!! What a breath of fresh air!! Thanks Dan for your service to your Country, and Thanks for for bringing us this entertainment platform for strictly ours and your pleasure. I hope to get to see more of this type of content from you going forward!! All the best to you all at FantomWorks!!!
Dan, I am an old retired military master jet / auto mechanic and I really miss your stories. The "show" was never a show to me. I owned an auto / boat repair shop and did things like you do I was a jet mech in the USAF and did the best job I could and expected everyone around me to do the same. I am finishing my wife's 56 T-bird and If I had the bucks to have it finished I would send it to you and I trust very few people to work on my stuff. I hope you are happier now and know that myself along with many others resect and miss watching your shop and you. Thank you! I subscribed and look forward to seeing more of you!
Being that Dan is a Green Beret is the reason he is such a stand up guy. You will get no BS from him ever. Try to catch him on something and you wont be able to. Much respect sir!!!
Dan thanks for bringing the show back - you have a passion for cars, and it shows. I look forward to seeing new episodes and what FantomWorks is doing!!
People have no idea the difficulties small business owners endure. Dan nailed it. Everyone has a hand out for donations, family members that need a loan. Not taking into account the fact that if your short 1 month. The Owner is the last guy to get paid. While assuming all the risk and bills involved. I loved this show for the realism. He didn't BS. I really do appreciate that about the series.
FantomWorks was my favorite car show and I hated to see it end. I'm glad you're bringing it back without the encumbrances of a TV studio. I had no idea that you weren't getting paid per episode, which is just wrong.
Dan - First and foremost thank you for your Service! Your knowledge and professional attitude is an inspiration to me. I've always considered myself experienced around Cars & Bikes having built and restored my fair share. I commend you and your shop for doing the right thing regardless of what your clients actually want to compensate you for the work. People with deep pockets never know what takes place to do it right the first time. Besides getting the right parts and not just third party parts is the heart of a quality restoration along with the ability to see it to the end. Keep on making what makes you most content. USAF Jet Mechanic
Thank you Dan for your service and the wonderful shows. I feel very sorry for what you’ve endured, as the love of money is the root of evil, especially done against you. I appreciate what you’ve done for the automotive world and us collectors.
Dan, you have been an inspiration to me that I should never attempt to do a restoration myself. ( I just retired at 72 y.o. and I would like to buy the red Corvette with removable split window roof. I would settle for just a copy of the roof. I had a '66 conv. Small block. That red one, cragar mags, just socks the air right out of my chest. U have loving passion and soul, ministerjack
Wow I am glad that you’re still going to have somewhat of a show that’s on your time and what you want I can’t wait to watch you are an honest man and you helped a lot of people to get the cars that they wanted built and you helped a lot employees to become what they are today, and I am very proud of you for what you’ve done with your shop !
First and foremost, thank you for your Service for our country. You such a stand up guy and never once backed off of being you. Thats what I repect about you most. Thanks for being truthful about how these shows truly are. I was a diehard speed, velocity and motortread channel watcher. So I've seen every episode a few times and will continue to do so. The very best of luck to you and Fathomworks in the future and looking forward to seeing your new endeavor. Thanks for being real!
Dan, Your show was the greatest car show on air. I am 71 years old. Most of your builds were keeping the car pretty much original which is what I love. I graduated in 1969 and own an all number’s matching 1969 Olds 442 400 4spd Muncie close ratio with 3.90 gears. Looking forward to your new show. Jack
I really appreciate you taking your time to put truth to the rumors. I was a huge fan of the show and will continue to be a fan of Dan Short and Fantom Works. At the end of the day, Dan has worked hard to create a truly great business with the hard work of amazing craftsmen. Thanks, Sir.
I am sorry that you got screwed over. You are an honest, hard working man and your work is impeccable. I do miss the show, but I’m glad things are going better for you.
I have full respect for you Dan! I loved your show and now I can watch it on you tube, so cool I saw you were always so intense on so many things and a stickler for detail. Now I know why lol Thank you for all your service to our country, very impressive to fly the Apache Heli and be a Green Beret. My friend was a Green Beret and the stories he has told me just set me back in my chair eyes wide open! Best of luck to you and your family and your crew!
Thanks for telling your story post FantomWorks. I have watched every episode, most of them twice. You may not be a paid actor but you are a car star, par excellence! Much success as you move forward with the new FantomWorks model.
First and foremost Thank You for your service...enjoyed watching the show. Enjoyed your candid honesty about the cars. Appreciated your stickler to details. Right is right ,,not right and almost...look forward to the future videos... hope Bobby is still around. Top notch old school mechanic.
Bravo to you Dan. Your show was always, and has always, been the best. It was real and it was obvious it was real. I am sorry you had to go through all of the stress but glad to hear you are proud of the content you put out. We the fans knew it when we saw it and are glad you came out on top on the other end still doing what you really want to be doing, building and restoring amazing cars.
Well Dan, i really love your work. I miss your tv show until i find you again, now at youtube. I just immediately subscribed to your channel, and now I can enjoy every new project of yours. I wish you all the luck the world can give you, and I send you my sincere greetings here from Brazil.
Dan I am so impressed and feel bad at the same time. We love you, what you do and your people. Crem de la crem top shelf hope you are successful and well. From a 71 year old whose first hot rod sleeper was a late Dyna-flow 322 Buick 4 barrel with duals and a Century body. I relate to the jackrabbit starts and floor boarding from the light. The next was an Impala with a 396 375 duals Holley spread bore single line dual pumper. She smoked several (total # NOT DISCLOSED) Formula 400 Firebirds from traffic lights at various local locations. She was right dignified (blue and white, pretty car) but became a beast when floored it. Love you guys man, loved your show but YT allows you to be yourself and show what you do so well without all that vise of time and pressure. Stay well be blessed and our prayers are with you!
Stoked to come across this video and hear that you are now continuing the show here on YT!!! As a lifelong resident of Virginia Beach and Norfolk you and your team of craftsman instilled a bit of hometown pride in what you guys do. Keep up the great work and you've just gained a new, stoked, subscriber!!!
Thanks for everything, Dan 👍 My particularly favourite show was when you came to the UK and got to meet and talk to REAL car enthusiasts. You seemed to be really happy and chilled with the experience. ✌️
I always liked watching your shows. I feel like you have integrity and have a genuine love for what you do. It's great to hear that you are doing great and I will be looking at your current and future content!!
So glad to vicariously join your journey! Clearly your production contract was too one sided and you were taken advantage of like many others. Much credit to you for fulfilling your commitment. Thank you for shedding more light on your experience. Hopefully you will profit now in more ways to make it worth your while. Thank you for your honesty, integrity, realism, and your service. Good luck!
Dan, Thank you for giving it another try as I have seen most of your show several times and it will be AWESOME to see new ones! Good luck with this next chapter in your life! Also Thank you for your service to our Country!
I do miss your show. I have a great appreciation for not only the caliber of your work, I applaud you for your dedication to do what is right. I am thrilled to hear that you have a fresh show, and that it is Your very own show. I look forward to watching it.
Holy shit, you’re still around and filming?! Subscribed! That was my fav car build show to ever air on tv. The algorithm FINALLY delivered a video to my feed I’m thankful for
I've always been a big fan of your honest, no nonsense approach to people, the business, and the cars themselves. And I've always gotten a chuckle out of (sorry for butchering this) "if we have to pick between you and your car.....we are not picking you" Thanks for everything!
I always loved watching Fantomworks every week! It was my favourite automobile restoration/customization show hands down. Stuff happens to businesses, it’s part of life…. It’s unfortunate. I look at the work that they do, their honesty and passion for restoration! And I definitely see that Fantomworks with the direction of Dan does exactly that. When I finally buy my C3 corvette, it’s definitely going to FANTOMWORKS for restoration.
I just watched an episode tonight and wondered how you guys were doing. Glad to see you’re doing things on your own now. When I was assigned to Langley, I dropped a friend off there to pick up his MG before the show came along and remember meeting you then. I’m really happy for your hard earned success.
Dan.... I understand now why the show ended but I thank you and yr crew for a great series of shows! You guys and women really rock!! Thanks for a great series! And long live muscle cars!!
Loved the show, the quality of the work, the skill of the mechanics and dedication to do things right. Glad the business survived and going strong. I’m subscribed to follow you and your crew in your future projects!
Hey Dan missing watching you and your crew working on those lovely cars....we all love your work..your attitude..God bless you..from coventry in england
I for one, am glad you're back. I wondered, now and again, what happened to Fantom Works. I wish you had a Canadian outlet, but you know the old proverb, "Wish in one hand, ... and **** in the other." Good to see ya back, Dan.
Well, Mr. Short, I had a conversation with a friend of mine, and we both agreed, if money was no object, if we both wanted a car restored to factory specs. We would send our cars to you, and to you only.! You have a great passion for original cars from the factory.! And for that I have the highest praise for you and your crew.!
One of the best no BS, nuts and bolts, realistic custom car repair shows ever done. The breadth and scope of the stuff they worked on was amazing and you could tell that the craftsmanship was top notch. Glad to see it back in a more controllable and workable format as a RUclips channel. I subscribed and will be paying attention to an old favorite that I've missed watching. Really one of the better car shows ever done!
I miss this show tremendously. So many of these automotive shows have uninteresting characters and/or forced drama, but this one was wayyyyyyy better. I’d love to buy Dan’s crew a beer!
I just wanted to say HI and I'm glad that you're doing well. I hauled a Corvette from Pittsburgh to you then picked up a VW going back to Pittsburgh when I was hauling exotic and classic cars for Quality Transport out of Johnstown, Pa. Meeting you in person was to this day one of my most memorable times driving truck. My father also loved watching your show but he passed away in 2017. I've been out here 29 years and finally retiring and building my own cars/trucks in Rome, Ga. I pray that you stay doing what you love to do and also successful at it. I'm done rambling so have a wonderful day!!
I thought you was 110% committed to the car builds and doing everything to the best standard possible. Loved the show and the work done. Hope you’re still building/improving vehicles and doing well. Happy new year pal.
Dan - Loved your show and the fact you gave the customer, up front, what a realistic estimate for the work to be done would cost, so they could make an informed decision. I appreciate you taking time to talk to me about doing a custom convertible conversion of a 1960 DeSoto Adventurer, and what you thought that would cost. The project never got off the ground, but at least I didn't get in over my head when I was only able to spend $80-$90k on a project that you estimated would cost closer to $150K. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. Thanks!
As friends always do me and my buddies talk about what we would do if we won the lottery and where we would have our dream car built. I have always answered Fantomworks. You guys are amazing and do work that is 100% unparalleled. Keep up the good work and I’m damn glad to see y’all have went back to your roots and doing what you love.
I watched the show when I was younger and living in Colorado, honestly I hadn’t thought about it afterwards until I moved to Virginia Beach and happened to drive past the shop. I’m glad the show didn’t ruin you guys! I’m happy to have found you on RUclips! I’d rather watch here
I was so sad when Fantomworks went off the air! Yours was one of the few car build shows that (at least to me) didn't seem scripted. And it looked like you din very nice work. Glad to see ya back!
Man I miss that show. The most honest builder out there. Saving my pennies to someday give my 73 Cuda a full going through and would be ecstatic to have Dan and his crew do it. Congratulations on the new show from a new subscriber.
Dan thanks for all the great shows. I still watch the reruns. One of these days I'll get down to Norfolk and stop by. Looking forward to your new show.
Loved this TV series when it aired and I tell ya, I actually stopped watching a few other car shows to watch this one. It boils down to how Dan handled the clients from start to finish and also the great choices of cars he built paying attention to the smallest of details. So glad to see FantomWorks on youtube and hope to see some build content in the future. Thank You Dan for this update and laying it all out for us so we understand what really went on!
If someday I visit Norfolk I'll ask just for a photo in front the building... Always loved the show and the way Dan and everybody works. I also regret my late grandfather was unable to know the show. As a fabricator he was he would love it. Regards from Brazil.
Hey Dan and Team - I always loved the show and did learn a lot about what can be hidden under a shiny paint job. Of all the automotive shows that I watched, I will say that Phantom Works was the most down to Earth and real. Of course I realized there was more behind it due to the TV show and resulting pressures. What I will say is that PW is the only show that my wife ever really commented about - and it was usually about the people and their attitudes about fixing things properly. Always positive. You won over my wife with a car show. Kudos to you! Glad I saw this video and looking forward to the new content. Subscribed!
Glad you put this out, I always wanted to stop by your shop as I had family in Chesapeake, VA. Looking forward to watching future episodes here! Had to subscribe!!!!
Your show was awesome, a truer representation of the automotive restoration business.. And I always wondered how the heck these edits came together , after hearing that you could be filming 20 different segments in a day, week whatever...that would of literally driven me crazy..hope you and all your team are doing very well...thanks
Great insight Dan,always wondered what happened to the show.Fantomworks was always one of the best car shows on TV,Great to hear you guys will be back soon,Been loving "Tyrells Classic Workshop" in the meantime on RUclips.i bet you watch him too...All the best from Ireland.
Was great watching your show over the years. Thanks for letting us in on the operation. Glad your moving on and doing it the way you want it done! All the best for your success.... Motor on! PS Thank you for your service.
Glad to have been recommended this video. I loved fantomworks! I binge it all the time. I must say your resume is astonishing! Thank you for keep on keeping on especially when times got dark. Above all else, thank you for your service! Can't wait to see your content on YT in a less stressful environment for your shop!
Dan, your show was awesome and your attention to detail was unbelievable (and a bit intimidating!). Your restoration ability & supervision is second to none. If I ever have the means, I will do business with you.
Glad your back Dan, your show was my fav. out of all the car shows because you were always up front with people. I hope you get 20 million subscribers .... good luck!
I really enjoyed this program. He was always straight forward about the build costs and time it takes to do the jobs! Most people who buy a car and want it restored have no idea what they are getting into. Even a fairly decent car doesn’t mean it’s going to be cheap! Parts are expensive, labor is expensive! Time is not cheap!!
As a mechanic and custom car builder your show was the most realistic. I admire the fact that you put the car first and pull no sugar-coated punches. Looking forward to seeing more from you and your crew. Thanks Dan!
You do realize much of the added drama was scripted, right ? It's a TV show.
It wasn't. His show was literally like he said the daily shop with cameras pointed at them
LMAO..OK
He is totally believable to me, his awesome miltary background is an integrity badge that should dispel all the haters BS.
Most realistic? Are you kidding? I respect the quality of work coming out of this shop, but the show itself was made for drama nonsense. Drove me nuts to the point I couldn't watch the show.
Best line ever: "If we have to choose between you and your car, we're not choosing you." Way to keep it real, Dan.

From a former Army infantryman and car nut, thank you Dan for your service, and your honest way of living your life! Hooah!!
And I've always gotten a chuckle out of (sorry for butchering this) "if we have to pick between you and your car.....we are not picking you"
Thanks for everything!
You and your stay with crew are true artisans. Thank you. To the new staff, You have landed in a class act, enjoy it.
Dan,
for your effort in bringing a real restoration show to TV . Looking forward to new channel !
Dan.... I understand now why the show ended but I thank you and yr crew for a great series of shows! You guys and women really rock!! Thanks for a great series! And long live muscle cars!!
Thank you Dan for this episode! My highest praise, honor and regards to you and your team 🙏👍💯💜🇺🇸
From one Veteran to another, thank you for your service, the entertainment and the realistic view of auto restoration. I will miss your show.
Well, Mr. Short, I had a conversation with a friend of mine, and we both agreed, if money was no object, if we both wanted a car restored to factory specs. We would send our cars to you, and to you only.! You have a great passion for original cars from the factory.! And for that I have the highest praise for you and your crew.!
Great Job Dan. Loved your show. Glad your still doing what you love. - building wonderful memories with those you love. Gary
Dan your show helped me during a low point in my life. You're one of my heroes. I love how real you are and still are. Thank you!
You're the only shop I've ever watched that I'd take my car to. You just do great work, and you do things the right way.
I watched the show when I was younger and living in Colorado, honestly I hadn’t thought about it afterwards until I moved to Virginia Beach and happened to drive past the shop. I’m glad the show didn’t ruin you guys! I’m happy to have found you on RUclips! I’d rather watch here
Folks, this is as real as it gets. I'm glad I found the channel and instantly subscribed.
Subscribed!
We miss you Dan but will see you on cmax TV. Great show that I'll miss. So impressive on how you took care of history.
As a GM World Class Technician glad to see you doing your thing. I tip my hat to you and the crew.
As a car enthusiast the build are awesome, if you n the crew decide to keep on with the you tube channel you definitely have a fan here.
Glad you've been able to put the show behind you and are starting on something new, I'll be looking for your new channel and episodes.
Great show Dan good to see you back again all the best from the Uk 🇬🇧
Glad to have been recommended this video. I loved fantomworks! I binge it all the time.
I must say your resume is astonishing! Thank you for keep on keeping on especially when times got dark. Above all else, thank you for your service! Can't wait to see your content on YT in a less stressful environment for your shop!
X2 What he said and especially for your long service to our country.
Nice to find you back Dan and the rest of the team ,and still as honnest as i can be.Keep up the greaat work
Love your shows. Thanks for all you do and for being real. Hope I get to visit you some time.
Dan, your show was awesome and your attention to detail was unbelievable (and a bit intimidating!). Your restoration ability & supervision is second to none. If I ever have the means, I will do business with you.
Glad your back Dan, your show was my fav. out of all the car shows because you were always up front with people. I hope you get 20 million subscribers .... good luck!
Thank you Dan for all the great episodes and your blunt honesty. That is something rare now a days.
Best shop and management I’ve ever seen. Keep up the high quality honesty and things will be great !!
Thank you Dan for the knowledge of how to care for certain cars a certain way and how to fix cars in ways I didn't know.
Very enjoyable to see all the different classic vehicles. Loved the show and the quality work.
