When I was writing a blog about her song as an adult, someone passed it on to her, and she sent her thanks to that person via e-mail, which eventually reached me in Japan, and I was touched.

Great version. I can see why Manfred Mann picked this one. Love this!

Manfred Mann's Earth Band not only covered the song but also made it a part of the "Angel Station" concept, because "You Are - I Am" repeats the chord sequence on the second side of the album.

Harriet : I don't know if you are still alive, or even check your youtube regularly, but I wanted to tell you " thank you " , even though 1974 was a long time ago, I still remember. in '74, I had to have major surgery. I was just 17 at the time, and scared as all hell at what the doctors were telling me and my mum. According to them my life was in danger. Add being bipolar before they knew what bipolar was, and I wasn't too happy of a camper. At times all I had was my music, and this one song I held close to my heart was " Hollywood Town " . I couldn't understand what the DJ was saying when he tried to pronounce your name. I just knew " Hollywood Town " I figured I would never know, until a couple years back I discovered youtube ,and there was your song. I felt the warmth and the comfort the song brought me, and not the danger from the past. There were a few from that time I held close to my heart, ( and still do ) but the one that brought me the most joy at finding on youtube was this one. And thank you very much for helping a frightened teenager feel better.

Have to say, I do prefer the Manfred Mann's Earth Band version, but this is by no means bad. Kind of interesting to hear the original, too.

Harriet Schock. It's a thorough condemnation of the entertainment industry that I've never heard of her before my last few minutes of surfing here.
    Hollywood FAIL.

trfesok ... Helen Reddy recorded “ain’t no way to treat a lady.” But now that you mention it, I wonder how Reddy would’ve sounded singing “Hollywood Town” and I bet it would’ve been good. Helen Reddy had a special voice. But Harriet Schock sang her song so well.
