I'm on recovery now, but at that point I felt so small, so worthless, so empty of love for myself and I stumbled upon a performance of Jin's Epiphany on piano. I was singing along as I always do and then I read a comment that said "Jin got 30 thousand people to sing 'I'm the one I should love' " and it completely broke me. I cried nonstop and realized I needed to keep on trying to love myself and improve my mental health.

The reason why the Idol video is so colorful and it obviously have a lot of crazy backgrounds with a green screen it's because haters tend to say that bts uses a lot of green screen, they don't believe they really make crazy scenarios like Jungkook running with the floor falling behind him, a man on fire because of a special jacket that protects him, water falling with Jimin in between, etc, etc. So this is the: "you want a really green screen with crazy stuff? You get it". Also, Tae wearing glasses because haters used to say that it doesn't suit him. Or Namjoon using filters. Even the bunny in the moon has a cultural reference that I can't remember and the drawing in the background like the whale or Shooky (Suga's character in bt21) crushing people with his hands are all things that the boys drew themselves so it has a meaning too for them, all the faces of the guys can also represent the part that says "inside me there are hundreds of me" but some people also think it's a response for "all asians look alike", all has a meaning and all of the meanings make fun of haters basically.😚 Ps. It's also said that this video represents the folklore of korean culture. Haters also used to say that bts has forgotten their asian culture because how much they have wanted to enter in the occident with their music. So Idol has a lot of cultural reference like the dance, the colors, the flowers (i'm not sure if i should call it a flower but it has a shape of a flower), the words ursoo and jihwaja that are exclamation words for excitement (sounds typical of their culture, which do not have a specific meaning in other languages), I think the music it also have an specific korean wind instrument, and others references that make honor to korean culture. The rabbit also symbolizes immortality. And according to RUclipsr David Kim, there is a Korean saying that translates to "the more you are cursed at, the longer you will live." In this case, BTS could see themselves as the rabbits, indirectly referring to the criticism they've faced since their debut."

Im a Jimin bias but i also appreciate Jin’s songs...😭im a ballad lover. Epiphany is one of his best songs. I wud love to see a Jimin x Jin collab someday.
I must have heard Epiphany atleast a thousand times. But it never fails to make me cry. SeokJin's voice feels like a voice talking to my soul. Its one of the 3 BTS' songs that made me ARMY 💜

BTS released this song right when they were blowing up big time in US and it's not a coincidence. They were facing kind of a push back from the close minded part of the western audience. People were saying things like kpop is not music, everything is too over the top, they are just pretty boys in make up, ... a lot of prejudice like you can imagine. BTS never said it out loud but their intention with IDOL was to give people seemingly what they were expecting but roast them in the lyrics and have the time of their life in the process. The best part is those judgemental people would never look up the lyrics and keep making a fool out of themselves while getting screamed at in the face that the boys doesn't give a flipping f.. about them. At the same time as they were getting bigger and bigger korean kpop fans were saying that BTS is getting too westernized, they are not the same BTS they were before, they are leaving their roots behind, etc. So they made IDOL as korean as possible with traditional instruments, clothing, dance figures, all the colors and all the other things they use in the MV/stages. If you watch their performance of IDOL at MMA 2018 it's basically a giant celebration of korean culture. I left this same exact comment on another video just yesterday. People are on a roll for IDOL I guess or it's just lucky timing for me. Thank you for making time and going deep with BTS, love your inputs 💜
