    The lead singer, Matt, was a finalist on the US vocal talent show called 'The Voice' in 2014 - Cool to see him join the 'scene'

    As a bit of background, back in 2019 Jonny Craig left the band high and dry just before a tour, and Matt was asked to fill in at short notice and learn the songs, having not heard of the band before. They put out an album with this lineup last year which was pretty great, and this is their first song under the new name.

    I think their best songs are the newly release 'Waiting on You' and 'Eyeopener' from their first album with Matt. His vocals are insane, so much control.

    slaves last 2 albums are some of my favorite albums of all time. Even if jonny is a piece of shit, his last album with slaves was a complete master piece.

      i recommend you guys try "slaves - talk to a friend" which is with the new singer, and "slaves - i'd rather see your star explode" which is with jonny craig.

    Favourite song by them personally - Witch Hunt off To Better Days by them. Still as slaves before they changed their name, but also with Matt not Johnny

    I got to see them last month (I went cos Siamese were supporting) and it was probably one of my favourite shows I've been to. Really got me hooked on this band that I'd only dabbled with before.
    Would 100% suggest checking out their album from 2020, even if it's just something that ends up like this where you enjoy it every now and then

    Love your video's as you aren't afraid to be critical unlike most other reaction video's. Check out " buried a lie" by them, from their last album. Favourite song of mine. Technically this is their first song as "Rain city Drive", so the other songs may be under the name "Slaves" on youtube.

    I highly recommend some of the songs from their last album, 'bury a lie' and 'talk to a friend' are 2 standouts for me. imo this song is a bit weaker compared to their previous works but still a solid song.
    Personally I only just discovered them this year after finding out johnny craig was their vocalist for a time. He's an asshole but I can't deny that he has an incredible voice so I was curious as to how he sounded but I'm actually more in love with Matt's vocals now and they've become one of my top bands.

    I feel like the chasing her around thing was more about fighting in a relationship and feeling like it’s over only to end up right where you started…trying again to make it work. He woke up with her not there and was frantic about finding her to “explain” and she was resistant but in the end she went back to their “home” and they tried again. Any takers?

    I have enjoyed all of Slaves work both with JC and Matt. The new name is definitely a move in the right direction as a 'brand' I'd say. But this song, albeit good, was only good. It didn't shake things up enough for me to get overly excited.

  • @Nomzi
    @Nomzi 2 года назад +1

    I'm not sure of your names, but it makes me sad that one of you said post-hardcore does nothing for you. Saosin and Rain City Drive are two of my favorite bands, and nothing does it for me quite like post-hardcore! Different strokes, I guess

    Not a huge fan of their newest song, liked the structure of slaves when matty entered the mix. New stuff is a little too over produced. In my eyes taking away the more aggressive intrumentals they had which was what made them unique in my opinion. Nobody really does low mixed lower tuned instrumentals with clean vocals. I mean just look at the numbers of when they were still called slaves.

    I do like rain city but they've not got to the level as they did with Jonny. You should have a listen even if you don't like him as a person.
